"Who Should I Vote for in 2008?" Still wondering?

Still wondering who to vote for in 2008? That question seems to be on everyone's mind, these days, as the elections loom ever closer. Many people are still at a loss, although most know who they won't vote for. And that goes for both sides of the political sphere.

Well, here's another link to another "select a Candidate quiz". Some different questions, some similar to the vajoe.com candidate calculator I posted about earlier, but still rather interesting. This one lists all the various issues that you have in common with each candidate. I was even more amazed at who came up as my number one candidate, this time! No, not a Dem! But I was surprised, to say the least.

This is going to be a very interesting election!

OH MY GOSH! I can not believe that according to this, I would be for Sen. John McCain, who is my least favorite Republican. But, while interesting, when I did the vajoe poll, Duncan Hunter was who I was closest to. And yet, I am still with Mitt. Go figure!

As I have listened to Mitt, I find myself shaking my head north and south. Now I know he and I see more eye to eye. Rudy ain't bad but Mitt carried the poll. GOOD STUFF. MUD

well both quizes i have taken say my perfect candidate is hillary.... i kid. like 64 mccain was my man in this one.. that must mean we have a terrible field to pick from....

RIGHTY: Me too. Was shocked beyond belief. Mitt was 2nd and Hunter 3rd... none of which are my top contenders. I'm actually veering towards Giuliani, because I think he might be the only one who could beat Hillary.. appealing to both sides of the court. We shall see.

MUD: Yeah.. this one was fun too.

PATJ: I wonder if it's rigged.. considering so many of us got Mccain? But I still believe we have to back the one who has the greatest chance of winning in 2008.

Even though he doesn't come in as number one for my answers, my choice is still Rudy. Same reasons you pointed out. That's the most important consideration - beating Hillary.

My top 3 are Fred Thompson, Rudy and Duncan Hunter. I will most likely vote for Fred in the primary but if he isn't viable and its between Rudy and Romney I'll pick Rudy because I'm not a Romney fan at all!!

By the way I don't like that candidate quiz because it doesn't take into account a lot of different factors. You may agree 100% with someone on the issues but if you can't stand them its not going to work.

Also, the reason some might have gotten McCain is because the quiz isn't taking into account how ticked off we were when he stabbed Republicans in the back with the compromise gang of 14 over judicial nominees. There are a lot of reasons I don't like McCain and I'm not sure those are going to come up in a candidate quiz.

well said, dee. i'm with you. mc cain showed up as my #1 and then fred...

John McCain - I'm sad. Thompson was #2, though.

I'm a little frightened, though. The closest Democrat to my opinions was Kuscinich. Big Yikes!

This quiz made me a solid Democrat, with Chris Dodd (who he?) as my closest match (36 pts) and Rudy G as my top Republican (11 pts). Oddly, only Tom Tancredo (who he?) seems to share my views on Iraq.

I'm really not sure who I'll vote for this time around. I guess, for me, it's much too early to tell.

I kinda like McCain, but he only got a 4 on my quiz!?

hiya hun..I'm on the fence too!

KAREN: Yes, it truly is the most important reason. Given all the reasons not to have Hill as prez.

DEE: I just don't know if Romney is winnable. I have no feelings towards him, one way or another. And I know what you mean about the quiz.. you might be more aligned with one candidate, but if you don't like him, or he can't win, why vote for him. And many of the questions are just too black and white, and many of the issues are not that, at all.

HEIDIANNE: It was McCain for me then Romney then Duncan Hunter. But Hunter could never win..

JOHNL: Heh.. Kucinich and Gravel are always at the bottom of my lists.. That *is* pretty ouchy, though, John.

BOBB: :-) I figured it probably would.. That's the problem with most of the lesser-named candidates.. they have no chance in heck of winning.. on either side. Only the one's with name factor will win.. Obama and Hillary- Edwards is just too, well...Edwards. And on the Republican side.. the ones with tvq are Giuliani, Romney, MCCain and Thompson.. and many people dislike MCCain.. so.. should be interesting. I probably would have voted for your Iraq stance, but just wishful thinking on my part, I guess.

OPAL: I think things will start to make themselves clearer in the coming months.

BB-IDAHO: That's funny.. and those of us who did get him as our #1 choice, will not vote for him. I voted for him last time around.. but..

WOMAN: Well, I'm not totally... but not totally committed yet, either.

This is definitely flawed. It does show Fred Thompson at the top and I do consider voting for him.

The major flaw is that it is very black and white. It may compare positions, but it does not show the chance of a candidate sticking to his declared positions. With McCain you cannot trust him as far as you can throw him. He is willing to give away the farm in a compromise.

It did put Clinton, Obama and Edwards at the bottom with 5 points each. I'm surprised they did not get zeroes.

There was not an immigration stance that agreed with mine. I am adamant about getting the border under control and only then discuss what to do about the people here. The road to becoming legal should be long and hard, though with next to zero chance at citizenship.

Funy co-incidence,my husband did this today and he got Romney !My mother-in-law got John edwards!!!

AICS: I agree... it is way too black and white.. but still fun. There are lots of issues that I agree with part of... My bottom is always Gravel. :-)

FRASYPOO: John Edwards? Is she a Dem?

Personally I liked the vajoe.com quiz better. This one had several of the topics that just didn't match my viewpoint at all. Just seemed a lot more random. I know I agree with certain candidates on topics but this had those down in the "disagree" column... Maybe I just agree with your first quiz because it agreed with me more. This one spit out Hunter-Thompson-McCain when I'm a Romney-Huckabee-Guliani guy... go figure

Incognito said...

KODIAK: If they put the 2 together, it might be more viable.. but whether one is more closely aligned with one candidate than another,, that candidate still has to be winable.

The wqad "quiz" seems to be right on. I was leaning towards Ron Paul, and he beat 2nd place McCain (who I despise) by 14 points given my views.

Ron Paul.. wouldn't be too proud of that, sorry Anon.
