Palin More Experienced Than Obama

I knew nothing about Sarah Palin, other than the fact she's the Governor of Alaska, considered hot, and that many anti-McCain Republicans claimed they would be more likely to vote for him if he chose her as Vice President. And they are.

I was ambivalent, knowing so little about her, until McCain picked her as Veep and I started my research. And what I see, so far, I like.

The major criticism about Palin, including from fellow conservatives, is that she's as inexperienced as Obama, which isn't quite true if you check out a great side-by-side comparison of Obama and Palin on Redstate.com.

Palin's executive experience: 2 years as Governor and 10 years as a Mayor.
Obama's: zippo

They also seem to forget that she isn't running for President, and McCain isn't dead. Many, like Dick Morris, think it's a brilliant choice. I think the liberals do, as well, considering the dreck they are trying to dredge up. Sour grapes that after the Palin announcement McCain got more bounce and press than Obama did after the Clinton Convention.

I highly recommend checking out the redstate.com link above, if you already haven't.

The fact that Alaskans are pissing and moaning about the fact she will no longer be Governor, is also a testament to her character, abilities and governing style.

GOPUSA says this about her:
Governor Palin is a tough executive who has demonstrated during her
time in office that she is ready to be president. She has brought Republicans and Democrats together within her Administration and has a record of delivering on the change and reform that we need in Washington.

Governor Palin has challenged the influence of the big oil companies while fighting for the development of new energy resources. She leads
a state that matters to every one of us -- Alaska has significant energy
resources and she has been a leader in the fight to make America energy independent.

In Alaska, Governor Palin challenged a corrupt system and passed a landmark ethics reform bill. She has actually used her veto and cut
budgetary spending. She put a stop to the "bridge to nowhere" that would have cost taxpayers $400 million dollars.

As the head of Alaska's National Guard and as the mother of a soldier herself, Governor Palin understands what it takes to lead our nation
and she understands the importance of supporting our troops. Governor Palin has the record of reform and bipartisanship that others can only speak of. Her experience in shaking up the status quo is exactly what is needed in Washington today.

McCain/Palin are the CHANGE this country needs.

HI incognito! My friend Debbie at Right Truth made some of the very points you make here. I totaly agree that Palin is by far more experienced.

To be honest, even before Palin was on the scene I could never understand the DNC's pick of Obama. Even if they did not want Hillary - still, there were much more qualified people than the UN-QUALIFID Obama.

They - the Dems - look desperate to me imho. It is truly ashame.

I love Palin and she is a great role model for women and families. Her husband is also a good role model - and I was happy to see that since my hubby is disabled and seeing Palins hubby do what he has done in our own family renewed his bruised ego. You know, he felt because he was not bringing money in the home that it was bad-despite the fact it is not his fault - but as I said, him seeing Palins husband really boosted his spirits a whole lot. Her husband basically now stays home with the kids - a lot ad least. I think it is great!

I am extremely excited about Palin. I don't care what kind of "dirt" the Dems dig up. She is way better than having "Scrappy Joe" *gags* from Scranton as our VP.

@ Pat J: So your saying that Senator Obama's explanation that campaigning for the presidency does not equal executive experience? I guess I have been misled also... Gov. Palin was a good choice and shows once again that President McCain will be making the decisions, not the polls!

Aren't all governors head of the national guard?

The thing that gets me is she got her first passport less than two years ago and has visited three countries in the world (including Canada). I think this does demonstrate a vital lack of experience.

You yourself, incog, in many past postings have indicated that your travels and experience living in foreign countries has benefited your understanding of word affairs. Palin has so little experience of the outside world. (Her campaign management insisted she has visited four countries, but it turned out one of those was Ireland when her plane needed to refuel.) The other countries she has visited include Kuwait and Iraq - where she just hung out with fellow Americans in Army camps. So in total, her experience of cultures outside of North America - about two days in her entire life.

No McCain isn't dead, but at his age the chances are he'll get seriously ill during his tenure.

This woman may have some good attributes, but there's no way I'd trust her to be President. You can have all the experience in the world at home, but to a leader of the USA you need a bit more than that.

I think he could have chosen better, and I'm pretty sure Palin will get a whipping come the debates.

I am getting tired of the dems acting like trolls on this subject...I really do think its sexism to say that she should be home taking care of her kids and if she had been her daughter would not have gotten pregnant...imagine saying that to a man. She is more qualified by the mere fact that she agrees with me....HA! Great post... :)N

Oh, PULLEAZE, Incog! This woman's daughter got pregnant out of wedlock and Obama's PERFECT....WE CAN'T HAVE HER!!

(smile!!) GREAT post, as usual, keedo!!

Not to sound either inane or radical, but: apropos an earlier comment, I'm not convinced that extensive foreign travel is necessarily an arbiter of foreign policy smarts. Louis Farrakhan is well-traveled in the Middle East & has has come out of it with his racist/anti-Semitic worldview intact. Also, I'm not sure that Lincoln was an extensively worldly man, yet his courage, vision and persistence in prosecuting the Civil War limned his greatness. Mightn't it overwhelmingly be good values plus raw intelligence that measure the strength, across the board, of a candidate for high office?

Actually, Obambi does have executive experience. He just doesn't like to talk about it. He and his unrepentent terrorist buddy Bill Ayers ran the CAC, a grant-writing outfit that, depending on the source, blew about $100 million in foundation money on ethnocentric programs to improve Chicago schools. No improvement was reported.

I'm very excited about Palin. I was hoping McCain would make a good choice and he swung for the fences!

I especially like that she confronted corruption in Alaska. It would be nice to have McCain and Palin send the dead weight in Washington packing.

I was very impressed by her convention speech...even more so when I found out that her teleprompter was on the fritz.

You can pick a few bad examples out of the hat, Zack, for sure, but there's no better experience you'll get about another country than visiting the place.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not denying a lack of experience on all sides, but Palin does lack it and McCain could have chosen better.

She's good for the campaign but bad for the job. Hopefully he'll fire her if he wins.

Chris McClure aka Panhandle Poet said...

Troika: I hope he puts her on the road to get some of that experience. The GOP needs to be training up the next President. It is unlikely McCain will go for two.

Troika said...

Exactly Chris.

Well, you lot in the States will be waking up to the climax of 8 years of Republican economic policy this morning - I hope you all enjoy it.

And seriously ask yourself, when your stock market flops and tens of thousand of people lose their jobs today: Can we REALLY vote the same party again? Does that make ANY sense at all? Are we really THAT stupid to vote them in AGAIN?

Surely not.

Ottavio (Otto) Marasco said...

To date, Palin is doing fine, and watch / see how quickly she will learn the ropes. Yes, already talking more sense than Obama… If we can confine any analysis to her role as Governor and project forward we can see how Palin will evolve to be a most valuable conservative politician in years to come….

She should have evolved to be a valuable conservative politician long before becoming VP!

Give her 4.2 billion years and she might become a avluable human

It amazes me how many bright people can say with a straight face that a Governor on the bottom of a ticket with proven accomplishments is a greater concern than a Senator at the top of a ticket who has spent more time campaigning than governing.
