When the don't snitch policy is observed as a matter of honor among the black community, when young men wear 'gangster wear' clothing with pants hanging below their rear ends, when a constant stream of violent videos has taken over the music video channels with a music genre that is disrespectful to women and decent society, well, this is what is reaped.

It is the least common denominator and it is embraced by communities around the country.Karen Townsendhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12692791436106987353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133856.post-65381951296741353732007-07-15T02:42:00.000-04:002007-07-15T02:42:00.000-04:00The mothers and fathers of this kids should be tri...The mothers and fathers of this kids should be trialed too.. this is partly their fault.

If you cant take care of your kids... don't have any. It's crazy.. but I think there is a general distrust of cops.. and, I can almost understand that. They often are unfairly singled out because of their ethnicity.

And all youth seem to have that lack of respect for authority, but it seems to be getting worse, these days. Kids don't get spankings anymore, and they should.
I still believe that this lack of respect is exacerbated by videos, music etc.

PATJ: I know.. it is such a vile thing to have done. I know the suicide rate it very high. Depression during one's formative years is quite usual. I suffered terribly with depression. We have had multiple teen-age suicides in our area just in the last 2 years. It is extremely frightening to see a 14-17 year old believe that the only solution is to no longer exist! How families and friends suffer afterwards, with guilt and intense grief!

Our children were not even allowed any kind of video game until our son was in 5th grade. Then we picked games that did not involve killing or trying to destroy the other person (Yes - there are some fun ones out there - we still play occasionally). The game we have is an Nintendo 64 - we have refused to allow anything more because of the games they promote.

Liberal White Boy - You are certainly allowed your opinions but you need to learn how to express them without the arrogance and sarcasm!!!Missyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04018768293766814480noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133856.post-91378302857598011942007-07-14T21:45:00.000-04:002007-07-14T21:45:00.000-04:00OMG INcog,..they should all be hanged in the publi...OMG INcog,..they should all be hanged in the public square..I mean it!WomanHonorThyselfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17211851365273181636noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133856.post-26168736552775294842007-07-14T21:36:00.000-04:002007-07-14T21:36:00.000-04:00unbelievable and that is all i can say!!!unbelievable and that is all i can say!!!Pat Jenkinshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18142174423986806144noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133856.post-73629496121626464482007-07-14T17:04:00.000-04:002007-07-14T17:04:00.000-04:00You brought up the fact that people don't want to ...You brought up the fact that people don't want to cooperate with the police. I am not up on (or is it down with) the hip hop culture, but I recently became aware of the "don't snitch" movement that is pervasive among innner city youth. Apparently it is a popular t-shirt and a large part of black culture is that you DO NOT cooperate with the police.

Not just in light of what I just wrote, but in consideration of the situation in your post: it all boils down to one thing: no respect for authority, rebellion against authority--it is the original sin and the common denominator to everything that ills societies. yneb and similar liUGNhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08018646255201516826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34133856.post-85760067182614506422007-07-14T15:34:00.000-04:002007-07-14T15:34:00.000-04:00MUD: Yeah, but it doesn't explain the white rich ...MUD: Yeah, but it doesn't explain the white rich violence/crime. Though there obviously has to be some parental neglect when kids are allowed to play these violent games etc. I think parents these days are far more permissive than they were in the past.
