Latvia Trying To Ban The Burqa In Response To Influx Of Refugees

We haven't heard much about burqa bans- at least not for quite some years- but Latvia is hoping to join France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, The Netherlands, Russia, Syria, Chad, Cameroon, Senegal in banning the full face veil in public.  This article on Bustle explains the degree to which they are banned in those countries.

If the government approves, that is, Latvia might finally be going through with it.

Latvia will introduce a ban on the traditional Islamic clothes that cover the face when in public, Latvian Justice Minister Dzintars Rasnacs said on Monday.

"Such a ban will be introduced. The respective draft decision has been already worked out. We chose out of two concepts," the minister told the local LNT television.

"The first is to ban wearing clothes covering face only in certain places, including the state or educational ones. The second is to ban wearing burqa in all public places. The second concept was finally approved," he said.
The ban is yet to be approved by the Latvian government, Rasnacs said. "This ban is needed not to ensure public order and security, but to protect Latvia’s cultural values, our common public and cultural space, and each individual," the politician said.
One of the main reasons is a result of the influx of Muslim refugees.

Estonia and Lithuania are also considering the ban, but not without controversy.  As expected.

Bill To Ban Child Marriage In Pakistan Shot Down As Anti-Islamic

As proof that Pakistan is living in the dark ages, a proposed bill to ban child marriage in that country was shot down after the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) called it anti-Islamic.

The ruling party politician who introduced the bill, Marvi Menon of the Pakistan Muslim League party, withdrew it after the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) dubbed the bill “blasphemous”.

The CII unanimously rejected the proposed Child Marriage Restraint (Amendment) Bill 2014 on "purely religious grounds", reports The Express Tribune.

CII Chairman Mohammad Khan Sheerani said the bill contradicted Islamic teachings.

The proposed legislation recommended giving out harsher punishments to those entering a marriage with a minor, as well as raising the minimum age of marriage for women to 18-years-old.
Legally girls can marry at 16 and men at 18, but the CII believes that's anti-Islamic. According to Islamic law, 9-year-old girls should be allowed to marry.

Of course Ms Menon withdrew the bill after the CII called it  "blasphemous."  She is well aware of what happens to people who try to civilize a society still attached to backward Islamic ideology- people get killed.

Info On The 10 Yemeni Released Guantanamo Detainees

Barack Obama is making good on his campaign promise to release Guantanamo detainees. It took a good long while, but he's finally doing it. After all, he only has a year left in office to do as much damage as he possibly can. What this means is we are essentially adding to the ever increasing pool of terrorists who want us dead or living under Shariah law.

Muhammad Abd Al Rahman Awn Al-Shamrani. The 40-year-old is being shipped back to Saudi Arabia. He's already promised to kill Americans if released. You can be sure he will.

According to Breitbart, three others were already released this year:
On January 6th, Al Qaeda-linked detainees Mahmud Umar Muhammad Bin Atef and Khalif Muhammad Salih Al-Dhuby were released from the Guantánamo Bay detention center. On January 8, Faez Ahmed Al-Kandari, another Al Qaeda-linked detainee who was suspected of working as a jihadi recruiter and expert propagandist, was released.

Now ten more Yemeni terrorists have been released. The ten will be sent to Oman. Sean Hannity has a breakdown and photoa on each individual. Click here.

Obama Commemorative Chia Heads For Sale

For a little levity, Barack Obama Chia heads are back on sale on Amazon. I saw an ad for it on TV  last night and had a good laugh.  I googled, and yep, you can get your commemorative head from $17.99 to $19.99 plus free shipping to boot.  You even get your choice of his 'determined pose' or his 'happy pose'. Unless you'd like both.

They are also selling toilet paper:

Some of the customer reviews are kind of fun.

Paul gave it 4 stars: "Nice growth but it forced me to choose a new health plan that was $500 more than my current plan. Also when no one was watching it set the Mideast on fire."

Matt gave it 1 star: "Tried to use this but it redistributed all my chia seeds, would not recommend."

38% gave the chia head 5 stars, and 35% gave it 1 star.

Hillary Clinton's nutcracker is on sale as well, as is Mitt Romney's chia head.

You might remember back in 2012, right before the elections, I wrote about the battle of the Obama/Romney Chia heads, and that Obama was outselling Romney, which some believed was an indication as to who would win the White House.  Unfortunately, they were right.

Who Should I Vote For In The 2016 Presidential Primaries- Quiz

Once again we're faced with choosing who our next leader will be. Like 2012, we don't have a terribly great choice in either party. You've got the two front runners from a very small group of presidential wannabees in the Democratic party- Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. And a slew of Republican contenders topped by the petulant outsider Donald Trump followed by Ben Carson, who was giving Trump a run for his money until he recently slipped way down in the polls. Now it's anybody's guess who might garner enough popularity to compete with Trump for the trip to the White House.

It's always a challenge to figure out who you are most aligned with politically, so I enjoy the quizzes that pop up during election years.  The latest from I Side With has an in depth quiz that covers all the categories from Economy to Foreign Policy to Education and everything in between.

Those listed in this particular quiz, in no particular order. Other than three Democrats listed at the bottom, along with Indepedent Jim Webb, all the rest are Republicans.

Donald Trump
Ben Carson
Carly Fiorino
Marco Rubio
Mike Huckabee
Ted Cruz
Jeb Bush
Rick Santorum
Rand Paul
Chris Christie
Rick Kasich
Hillary Clinton
Bernie Sanders
Martin O'Malley
Jim Webb

Click here to take the quiz on ISideWith.com. Remember to click on "Other Stances" for more detailed responses, and to also click at the bottom of each category for 'more questions'.

I really like Ben Carson, but he has no chance of winning. And no offense to all the Trump lovers, but I was not in any way a fan- I thought he was a major joke (though I've been warming to him ever so slightly),  so was very surprised to see him at the top of my list on this quiz.

Am still not sure who I will vote for during the primaries.

Dolce & Gabbana Goes Islamic- Creates Luxury Hijab Line

You know Dolce & Gabanna, the Italian uber-expensive luxury clothing line- they've now created a luxury hijab and abaya collection. For all those wealthy Arabs who refuse to take in any of their co-religionist refugees from Syria and surrounding areas. According to Vogue:

The line will likely prove good news for D&G’s 2016 revenue as well. According to a report by Thomson Reuters, Muslim shoppers spent $266 billion on clothing and footwear in 2013 and are expected to spend $484 billion by 2019.

From CBC:

According to a piece published by Fortune in July, Muslim women spent $266 billion US globally on clothing and footwear in 2013 alone – a figure that is expected to almost double by 2019.

Another report cited by Forbes shows that in the Middle East specifically, sales of personal luxury goods hit $8.7 billion US in 2015, up from $6.8 billion US in 2014.

"Women from wealthy oil states have long expressed their flair for fashion with pricey handbags and shoes, visible when worn with an abaya and hijab," writes Clare O'Connor in the Forbes piece. "Many of these women are already consumers of designer apparel, often wearing brands including Dolce & Gabbana head-to-toe underneath their modest abayas, viewable in the privacy of their homes or among other women."
The outfits are actually quite chic, and the prices probably exorbitant.

But isn't the whole purpose of Muslim modesty NOT to stand out?

As for dolce & Gabbana, dhimmis or after the Arab big bucks?
