The Associated Students of University of California, Irvine (ASUCI) voted Tuesday to remove all flags, including American flags, from an inclusive space on campus because of their offensive nature.Flags are hate speech? Six people voted for the ban, four voted against, and two abstained.
The bill, R50-70, was authored by Social Ecology Representative Matthew Guevara, and accuses all flags, especially, the American flag, of being “symbols of patriotism or weapons for nationalism.”

The legislation argues that flags may be interpreted differently; the American flag, for example, can represent “American exceptionalism and superiority,” as well as oppression.
“[T]he American flag has been flown in instances of colonialism and imperialism,” the bill continues, arguing that “symbolism has negative and positive aspects that are interpreted differently by individuals.”
The anti-flag hanging bill adds that free speech, such as flags in inclusive spaces, can be interpreted as hate speech.
“[F]reedom of speech, in a space that aims to be as inclusive as possible[,] can be interpreted as hate speech,” the bill reads.
“Let it be resolved that ASUCI make every effort to make the Associated Students main lobby space as inclusive as possible.”
“Let it further be resolved that no flag, of any nation, may be hanged on the walls of the Associate Student main lobby space.”
“Let it be further be resolved that if a decorative item is in the Associate student lobby space and issues arise, the solution will be to remove the item if there is considerable request to do so.”
Omar Mahmood, a junior majoring in literature and anthropology at the University of Michigan, lost his job as a writer for the main campus newspaper and saw his front door tattooed with angry and profane messages after he wrote a satirical column dubbed "Do the Left Thing" for another publication. Written as parody, the column sought to poke fun at people who constantly perceive “microaggressions” -- a new term for small racial or ethnically-driven snubs.Offended that a Muslim would dare lampoon their social justice efforts, they got pretty nasty.
After falling down, the fictional character in Mahmood's column takes offense when a white male student offers a hand.
“He offered his hand to help me up, and I thought to myself how this might be a manifestation of the patriarchy patronizing me,” Mahmood wrote in the piece, which can be read at The College Fix, which first reported Mahmood’s situation.
“These progressive students attacked Omar because they felt that he, as a Muslim, cannot also be a conservative.”
On Friday night, according to Mahmood, people attacked his dorm room door, egging it and leaving copies of his satirical article with notes on the backs including “Shut the f--- up!” and “You scum embarrass us” and “DO YOU EVEN GO HERE?! LEAVE!!” along with various others, including an image of a creature with horns and another one of him with his eyes crossed out.So much for tolerance, equality and freedom of speech.
“We really can’t have her in the show, unfortunately,” Eliana Lopez, the producer of the show scheduled to run in the heavily Hispanic Mission District, told KPIX 5. “Of course she has the right to say whatever she wants. But we’re in the middle of the Mission. Doing what she is doing is against what we believe.”
"I have Annabelle," MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski said during a "Morning Joe" segment titled "What Have We Learned Today?"
"She is nine and a half. She has four brothers so she kind of feels my pain this morning. But Annabelle, who do you think should win the election, Annabelle?" Brzezinski asked.
The shy girl replied: "Mitt Romney."
"Booing a 9-year-old girl?" co-host Willie Geist said.
"She's nine, for God's sake!" host Joe Scarborough yelled. "Clean it up," Geist added.
Time magazine's Joe Klein offered a possible explanation for the crowd's reaction:
"Booing a nine-year-old girl ... a lot of these people must have come down from Philly or something."Shame on them, but it's not really that surprising that they'd have no compunction about making a child feel bad. This is what Obama has done to American liberals.

"Kill yaself you old hag,” tweeted someone named Briggs Marley. His sentiments were echoed by several other bastions of tolerance.
Another genius calling himself Sherrick W. denounced Dash as “an indoor slave.” He was replying back to someone named @HelloItsBeyonce who had also used racial slurs to attack the actress: “You ready to head back to the fields, jiggaboo?” the person had said, using an offensive racial slur referring to dark-skinned black Americans. Someone calling herself @ASvpFeefa blasted Dash using another racial slur: “TYPICAL OREO .. Voting for a white devil. #SICK”There were those who came to her defense and supported her decision to vote for whom she chooses, and those who hoped it wasn't true and that her account had simply been hacked.
