Iran's Fars News Photoshops Michelle Obama's Sexy Dress At Oscars

I have to admit that I did not watch the Academy Awards. Actually I never do, they bore me. But I did hear from one of my agents- who happens to be a black Republican- complaining that Michelle Obama  made an appearance of sorts  (via video conference) at the Oscars.

Michelle announced the winner of "Best Picture" dressed in a slinky, revealing, silver designer dress by Naeem Khan. And since the film about the 1979 Iran hostage crisis "Argo" won, and the Iranians believe it's the Zionist, Hollywood version of events, Fars News wrote about Michelle's appearance. But since the photo of Michelle was too sexy for Iranian consumption, they did a little Photoshop job to her dress to make it a tad more modest.

I'm surprised they didn't add a hijab while they were at it. Fars did approve, however, of the hijab-clad wife of Palestinian director Emad Burnat. Burnat's film "Five Broken Cameras" was nominated for best documentary film. Last year Iran threatened to ban Iranian actresses from traveling abroad for Western award ceremonies if they did not dress modestly. In the past, many have not adhered to the Islamic dress code they are forced to wear at home. So, in another article about Burnat's win, Fars said:

“The comparison between the clothing of Burnat’s wife in the Oscar ceremony and the attire of Iranian actresses in international festivals is worthy of reflection.”

In the piece about Michelle, Fars commented on the rare move by the Academy to have a non-entertainment celebrity announce a winner. And they're right.  Naturally, people are now debating how appropriate it was to have the First Lady involved in the Oscars, not that the Obamas care what anyone thinks.

Obama Skeet Shooting With Scissors- Joke of the day

I'm sure by now everyone has seen the photo that the White House finally posted on Flickr showing Barack Obama with a skeet shooting rifle, although it took forever and doesn't really address the fact he claimed he does it all the time.  And we all know that Janet Napolitano has recommended fighting back 'active shooters' with a good 'ole pair of scissors.

But you might not have seen the following very cleverly photoshopped photo of Obama scissor shooting:

There are those, however,  who believe that the 'real' photo of Obama with a gun is also photoshopped. Who knows. Since it took so long to come up with the photo I would venture to say it was probably somehow staged and/or manipulated. And here's a capture of another obviously photoshopped pic posted on Twitter by leftist New Republic (that they removed) when everyone realized it was a photo of Obama in a golf pose with a gun photoshopped in.

IKEA Saudi Arabia Ads Photoshop Women Out Of Photo

Notice anything different between the two IKEA ads above? One is missing the mother, and no, it wasn't intentional in as much as this wasn't some modern day notion of single parenthood: dad joyfully helping his two kids get ready for bed. But  intentional, yes, because this particular ad was destined for Saudi Arabia where women are non-entities, and if they aren't covered from head to toe then they don't deserve to be seen. I guess it was easier to edit mummy out of the photo than photoshop the woman wearing a niqab.

Apparently, IKEA is not too happy with the situation-at least that's what they say- but accepts full responsibility for what happened.

"IKEA Saudi Arabia is run by a franchisee outside the IKEA Group,” the company said in their statement, but the catalogs themselves are produced by the IKEA Group for all their IKEA markets.

The Swedish company has since apologized, saying:

"We should have reacted and realized that excluding women from the Saudi Arabian version of the catalog is in conflict with the Ikea Group values."

“As a producer of the catalog, we regret the current situation,” IKEA added.
Additionally, IKEA removed the image of a female designer, featured in their other catalogs, who assisted in designing a line of their home furnishings.

“It’s impossible to retouch women out of reality,” Swedish Minister of Trade Ewa Björling told Metro newspaper. ”These images are yet another regrettable example that shows we have a long road ahead when it comes to gender equality in Saudi Arabia.”

But somebody thought it was a good idea.

Who knew the Saudis had an IKEA!

Obama's Photoshopped Family Photo On His Facebook Page

What would possess Barack Obama to post on his campaign Facebook page, an obviously photoshopped photograph of himself, his mum Ann Dunham, and maternal grandfather Stanley Dunham in the Honolulu airport in the 1970s? Take a peak at mama Obama's hand. A pretty shoddy photoshop job when you forget to change the color of her hand.

The video below shows the hand and other photoshopped objects in more detail.  I found it in my sidebar of recommended videos and decided to check it out. I wasn't sure how legit it was so I wandered over to Obama's Facebook page, and damn if it wasn't there, brown hand and all, along with several other "family" photos. [Note, at the end the video touts someone's book.]

The theory is that the hand belonged to communist Frank Marshall Davis, who became Obama's mentor. Whether it is or not, it's certainly a bizarre photo; and even stranger, how did it wind up on BO's Facebook page?
