U.K. Jews Are Leaving Britain Because Of Rise In Anti-Semitism

Anti-Semitism is driving British Jews out of the country. So one family, Honey and Simon Gould along with their teenage kids, are packing up and moving to Arizona, leaving everything behind including a lovely home, successful business and many friends. Not easy for two people in their late 40s early 50s, but they feel compelled to.

She is not the only member of Britain’s 300,000-strong Jewish community to feel things have reached crisis point. Since the gun attack that killed three people at the Jewish Museum in Brussels last year and the murder by radical Islamists of four Jews at a kosher supermarket on the outskirts of Paris last month, the chorus of concern has been growing. The actress Maureen Lipman recently revealed that she, too, is considering leaving the UK because of the rising number of attacks on Jews.

A poll by the Campaign Against Antisemitism last month found nearly half of Britons thought that at least one anti‑Semitic view presented to them was “definitely or probably true”.

Then, yesterday, annual figures from the Community Security Trust (CST), which monitors anti-Semitism in Britain, showed a record number of anti‑Semitic incidents in 2014 (1,168 incidents were recorded, more than double the 535 incidents logged in 2013).

Manchester, where the Goulds live, and London have seen the greatest increase in anti-Semitism. But it's not just from the Muslim community, the pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel leftists are making Jews in the U.K. feel very unsafe, as well. And Simon thinks the far-Right is one step away from doing the same.

Radical Islam, agrees Simon, is not the only driving force behind the rise in anti‑Semitism. The far‑Left habitually conflates Jews with Israel and Zionism, he says. The far‑Right, meanwhile, may be “happy firing salvos at the Muslim population, but I know we are only one step away from their wrath,” he says.

Having spent 10 years on the northern board of the CST, he is acutely aware of how bad things have become. “I’ve been exposed to, and become familiar with, spiralling anti‑Semitism,” he says. “Eggs hurled from passing cars, swastikas on Jewish headstones, messages of hatred. Last summer, central Manchester – a place I love and have always lived in – became a flashpoint for virulent anti-Israel demonstrations. It was terrifying to see this on the streets of my home city.”

And he's spot on, regarding the far-Right. I've seen a plethora of anti-Jewish commentary from the far-Right conspiracy theorists who blame everything on the Jews and Zionists. They hate the Jews as much as they hate the Muslims.

Life Is "Awesome" Claims Rocker Turned ISIS Recruiter Of Women

Remember 52-year-old Brit Muslim convert, former rocker-turned-jihadi wife Sally Jones, aka Sakinah Hussain? The woman who ran off to join her 20-year-old computer hacker-turned-jihadi hubby in Syria who said she wanted to behead Christians? Well, she's back in the news.

According to an investigative report by the British weekly, the Sunday Times, Jones/Hussain is now involved in recruiting women to travel to Syria to marry and bed all the hordes of jihadis fighting over there. Kind of like a Muslim matchmaker of sorts.  Guess there aren't enough sex slaves to satisfy the militants' lust.

Posing as a 17-year-old girl Aisha, Jones told her that her "sins would be forgotten."

“At the end of the day if you’re Muslim you gave to get out of ul kufr [the land of the disbelievers] to please Allah if you can [sic],” she unsuspectedly told the Sunday Times in a message.

They initially contacted Jones via Twitter, while she still had her account UmmHussainAlBritani 
@UmmHussain101.  As of now, it's suspended.

Aisha, according to the Times, expressed concerns over the true identity of a certain Abu Abbas al-Lubnani, a name provided by Jones who would set up the meeting in which Aisha would receive money to facilitate the travel of two girls to Turkey.

“U have [to] give the bros name to Western Union as the collector. Listen if he’s giving u money to help u make hijrah [holy migration] dw [don’t worry] sis. He needs ur passport pics to check u aint spys or police cos hed get in big trouble if u was so dw ok just meet his brother and get the money,” Jones told the Sunday Times reporters.

According to Jones, who said she did not know Lubnani, girls would often receive the money but would never travel.

Her remarks mirrored those of Lubnani who according to the Times said: “people send money to girls to make hijrah and they take the money but dont come my sis said.”

As for what life will be like living in the land of Sham? It's "awesome." If you like the subservient life.

“Women dont have careers sis under sharia law . . . We are wives we are expected to look after our men.”

Muhammed Top Name For Baby Boys In The UK

England is doomed. According to the UK website BabyCentre, Muhammad has become the most popular name for baby boys.

The list of the top 100 baby names of 2014 showed Muhammad has risen 27 places from last year to claim the number one spot for boys.

The baby names chart ranks the names chosen by 56,157 BabyCentre.co.uk members who gave birth in 2014.

There is a surge in Arabic names generally, with Nur a new entry in the girls’ top 100, jumping straight to number 29, and Maryam rising 59 places to number 35. Omar, Ali, and Ibrahim are new to the boys’ top 100.

Too Exhausting Being Female- Brit Transexual Wants NHS To Pay For Gender Reversal Surgery

30-year-old Chelsea Attonley used to be a he, paid £10,000 to become a she, now she wants to be a he again, because it's just too darn "exhausting" being a she.  But Chelsea wants the U.K. national healthcare service (NHS) to pay the £14,000 it's going to cost to make him a male, again.

Matthew (as he was called prior to gender reassignment in 2007) is living on the dole in London because he's too emotionally distraught to work while having to deal with the exhausting manner with which a woman has to live. You know, the makeup and heels.

 "I have always longed to be a woman, but no amount of surgery can give me an actual female body and I feel like I am living a lie.

"It is exhausting putting on make-up and wearing heels all the time. Even then I don't feel I look like a proper woman.

"I suffered from depression and anxiety as a result of the hormones too.

"I have realised it would be easier to stop fighting the way I look naturally and accept that I was born a man physically."

 "Now I have decided I want to live as Matthew, I am desperate to have my FF-cup boobs removed.

"I can't afford to have them done privately, so I am hoping to have the op on the NHS.

"I can't work at the moment because I am too upset after what I have been through.

"I am considering having penis reconstruction too. I don't feel bad about the NHS paying for the surgery as I don't consider it a choice.

"I need to have these operations for the sake of my mental health. I am lucky enough to live in a country where there is free health care."

And no guilt whatsoever about saddling the British taxpayer with a personal choice she made 7 years ago.

And they probably will all get what they want.

Brit Muslim Extremist Warns Of More Lee Rigby Type Attacks In The UK

Australian authorities thwarted a Muslim Islamic State plot to randomly behead people, and now a British extremist has threatened more violence ala Lee Rigby, if the UK government tries to implement new counter-terrorism laws to stop Muslim activists from radicalizing young Muslims.

British-born Mizanur Rahman, 31, accused Home Secretary Theresa May of 'playing with fire' by planning to introduce new 'anti-social behaviour orders' for Muslim extremists.

But Mr Rahman said moves to silence activists could encourage terror acts in the UK like the murder of soldier Lee Rigby by Islamic converts Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale last year.

Mr Rahman, jailed for four years in 2007 for encouraging the murder of American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, gave the chilling warning in an interview with internet radio station FUBAR.

He said: "Theresa May is playing with fire because the fact is people like me who are willing to speak out regardless of the consequences are few.

"Other people will look to me and say they don't want their house to be raided and to have a voice they will have to use other means.

"Rather they will take their own actions, like Michael Adebolajo, for example.

"The British police are saying that kind of attack is likely to happen again, and the threat level keeps rising.

"It certainly looks like it is going that way, and things like this announcement doesn't help, it makes things worse."

Rahman was one of nine Muslim extremists (including Anjem Choudary) who were arrested recently, but later released on bail.

And they have no fear of the law, since they claim they are not breaking any.

Still have no clue why these people are still allowed to walk the streets of England, and most, no doubt, on the dole.

"Ban Peppa Pig" By UK Muslim Was A Joke

A parody video by a British Muslim on Youtube has caused quite a stir.  His Youtube channel quite clearly states BritishMuslim Comedy, but United Midlands posted the video on its Youtube channel and now many people think he's for real.

In the video Zayn Sheikh talks about how his 6-year-old son wants to become a pig instead of a doctor after watching the cartoon "Peppa Pig", so now he wants it banned from the UK airwaves. He even, allegedly, set up a Facebook page Muslims Against Peppa Pig (though I'm not sure this is the original page) which spawned a slew of  "Peppa Pig Against Muslims" pages.  The whole story sounded a tad suspect when I read about it on Al Arabiya, which linked to an article on the Mirror UK. In one sentence, at the end of the article, the Mirror does mention that some think it to be a spoof, which it clearly is, but seems to dismiss that possibility. Al Arabiya doesn't even mention the possibility.

In the video Sheikh says:

“Some of you, right, might have seen this abominable creature before, right, this Peppa Pig. Haram pig."

“As Muslims it is very important that we do not eat meat of the pork,” he explains.

“It is completely wrong that our kids are being shown these things on TV and my son ... he wants to be a pig now.”

“I think that we need to change this so I'm going to set up a Facebook group, ‘Muslims against Peppa Pig,’ and instead, because children still need cartoons to develop their minds, I propose we introduce Abdullah the cat.”

That's pretty wacky, and I know that Muslims have demanded some pretty wacky things, but this just seemed pretty odd. So I watched the video, and it all seemed very tongue in cheek, including a not-so-great unidentifiable dialect, and quite obviously a joke. Even the haram pig sign is indicative of a lack of seriousness. Then I started looking at the comments, and though the bulk of them were condemnations, there were a few people claiming the video was satire. One person linked to the original video, which proved indeed that it was a parody.

This country's possible future downfall is 1 million times more likely be down to the rapid multiplication of the mentally deficient like you who have failed to spot the satire rather than immigrants who have been unlucky in the accident of birth and have since then decided to move here for better prospects (just like you would in their shoes).

He obviously added the disclaimer after the hubbub, since it was originally uploaded in June.  And he just uploaded another video addressing the hubbub, where he eventually speaks with his normal Brit dialect.

I realize that Muslims can demand some pretty ludicrous things, and there have been some ridiculous laughable fatwas, but when something seems so far out, it usually winds up being bogus. Like this.

Brit Department Store Adds Hijabs To School Uniform Lineup

A decade ago, who would have thought that department stores in the West would be selling hijabs as part of their back-to-school uniform sales. U.K. department store John Lewis is doing just that.

John Lewis, which is due to sell the Islamic headscarf in its London and Liverpool stores, said it was responding to school demands.

“We provide uniforms for 350 schools across the country,” a spokesperson for John Lewis said.

“The school informs us of the items they want us to sell as part of their uniform list,” he added.

The store, which signed contracts with two schools, will sell a hijab for approximately $15 (£9).

John Lewis won the contract to supply uniforms to the Islamia Girls’ School in north-west London and Belvedere Academy in Liverpool.

Crazy.

Most Women Edited Out Of Halal Version Of "Happy British Muslims"

The Honesty Policy decided to put together a video to show just how happy British Muslims are. So they filmed a panoply of British Muslims- young, old, males, females with and without head covering- dancing to Pharrell Williams popular song Happy.

The response has been, as expected, both positive and negative. The usual suspects are condemning it for the usual reasons, including the use of adult females.

While its supporters applaud the diverse array of Muslims featured and simple, positive message of happiness, its detractors have an array of complaints that range from the depiction of co-ed dancing to the use of a pop song, Pharrell Williams' "Happy."

Mufti Abdur-Rahman ibn Yusuf believes those trying to show "happy" Muslims are the polar opposite of terrorist/extremists.

So, someone put together a halal version with all the females edited out. The few left in the video are kids. None of the unveiled women are featured.




But many Muslims are just as outraged by this new version.

The original video featured a variety of well-known British Muslims, with scholars like Cambridge University lecturer Sheik Abdul Hakim Murad and Radical Middleway scholar Fuad Nahdi, as well as hip-hop artist Tanya Muneera Williams and journalist and academic Myriam Cerrah.

Cerrah told The Huffington Post via email, "This new video reflects the persistent attempts by a small but vocal band of misogynistic muslims who believe women have no place in the public sphere, to literally erase women from history. Despite what they may think, they're the real embarrassment to our faith." She emphasized that The Honesty Policy has nothing to do with the censored video.

Muslim Jailbirds To Get Eid Treats In The UK

Over 400 Muslim criminals across England are getting Eid al-Fitr treats to celebrate the end of Ramadan, thanks to the London-based Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC). In their care-package they'll be getting:

 ..halal sweets, organic tooth chews, pocket-sized prayer books and Eid cards that prisoners can send to their loved ones.

What the heck are organic tooth chews?

Abid Choudhry decided last year that even jail inmates deserved something special to help them feel less "isolated from the community" and the "religious calender as it were,"  never mind they're in prison for a reason and not at some holiday camp. Maybe those 400 or so prisoners- of an estimated 11,000 plus inmates in British jails- aren't hard core murderers or rapists, but they still committed some kind of criminal act that landed them in jail, so how religious can they be?

They didn't cost much- $3.00 or so per package- and they're not funded by the British taxpayer, since they were paid through donations made to the IHRC, but still.  We need to stop pandering to religious jailbirds of all faiths.

Bilking The UK Welfare System- Iraqi Woman Sublets Taxpayer Funded £2 million flat

Another immigrant family bilking UK welfare system, which seems to find nothing wrong in settling welfare recipients in multi-million dollar flats. How absurd is that!

An unemployed Iraqi 'benefit queen' charged £4,000 a week to sublet a taxpayer funded £2million flat, it has been claimed.

Bushra al-Rahimi is claimed to have rented out the flat to a family of Kuwaiti tourists, while also being in receipt of housing benefits from Westminster city council to cover the cost of the city centre five-bedroom property.

Al-Rahimi and her family have now been re-housed at taxpayers' expense in nearby Islington, in a block of flats where another property is let at £5,000 a month.

The alleged offence came to light after director of Lord Estates Hany Hanna was asked to intervene by the head lessor of the flats at Harrowby Court, in a street near Marble Arch, the Sunday Times has reported.

Mr Hanna said when he called at the flat, which is close to Tony Blair’s home in Connaught Square, in the first week of July 2011 a man claiming to be the rightful tenant opened the door - in an e-mail to the head lessor Anthony Slingsby, Mr Hanna said he could tell by his accent he was from Kuwait.

He said he heard the man talking on the phone after he shut the door and was later called by al-Rahimi who asked him to leave. He accused her of committing a fraud and warned her the matter had been reported to Seymour police station.

Mehdi Hasan On Anti-Semitism Within The British Muslim Community

Muslim writer Mehdi Hasan dares to discuss the rampant anti-Semitism within the British Muslim community. He uses Labour peer Nazir Ahmed- who in 2012 blamed 'the Jews' for his 12 week prison stay after being convicted of reckless driving after killing a man on the M1 several years prios- as an example of:

".. mild-mannered and well-integrated British Muslims who nevertheless harbour deeply anti-Semitic views."

He goes on to say:

It pains me to have to admit this but anti-Semitism isn’t just tolerated in some sections of the British Muslim community; it’s routine and commonplace. Any Muslims reading this article – if they are honest with themselves – will know instantly what I am referring to. It’s our dirty little secret. You could call it the banality of Muslim anti-Semitism.

I can’t keep count of the number of Muslims I have come across – from close friends and relatives to perfect strangers – for whom weird and wacky anti-Semitic conspiracy theories are the default explanation for a range of national and international events. Who killed Diana and Dodi? The Mossad, say many Muslims. They didn’t want the British heir to the throne having an Arab stepfather. What about 9/11? Definitely those damn Yehudis. I mean, why else were 4,000 Jews in New York told to stay home from work on the morning of 11 September 2001? How about the financial crisis? Er, Jewish bankers. Obviously. Oh, and the Holocaust? Don’t be silly. Never happened.

The Stories of 4 Brit Women Who Converted To Islam

According to The Sun news over 5,000 Brits become Muslim every year, well over half are white, and 75 percent of those happen to be women. I have no clue what the appeal is, particularly for women, even after reading the reasons four Brit women converted to Islam, including a policewoman, a model, a student and a jobseeker. All four have different reasons for converting, the most understandable being the one who married a Muslim, the least being the one who converted after getting her heart broken by a Muslim man. All four have decided to show the world their decision by wearing the hijab.

This is 28-year-old police officer Jayne Kemp's story. She's the oldest of the lot:

But what would make someone want to change their lifestyle so dramatically? Police Community Support Officer Jayne Kemp left her Catholic roots behind after “falling in love” with Islam while helping victims of so-called honour violence.

JAYNE KEMP patrols her beat wearing a traditional hijab headscarf and even works extra time after shifts so she can attend Friday prayers at her mosque.

Devout Jayne converted to Islam last April and even plans to change her name to Aminah.

The single mum, who patrols Eccles, Gtr Manchester, as a Police Community Support Officer, says: “I thought Islam was all about women being forced to slave away in the kitchen — but I found out it was about being generous with your time, and patient and respectful of others.

“As I looked into it, I saw similarities with Catholicism and noticed values such as looking after your neighbours and cherishing the elderly, which is something older people say younger people don’t do any more.

“I wasn’t looking for any religion at the time but for every question I had answered about Islam, I had five more. I think I fell in love with it.”

Devoted Jayne even missed out on celebrating Christmas with her son, nine, and daughter, seven. She sent them off to their dad’s and cooked her own meal so it would be halal — the meat slaughtered in the manner prescribed by Sharia law.

UK Taxpayers Pay For Fight Against Extradition of Albanian Gangster Murderer

An Albanian man who was responsible for three murders, an attempted murder, and was convicted in absentia of those charges by an Albanian court, has been in British custody for about a year. Albania wants him back, but for some reason the Brits are helping him fight extradition. Why?

An Albanian gangster convicted of three murders is still in the UK almost a year after his arrest and is now likely to claim asylum.

Ndricim Sadushi, 42, has been on the run for 15 years and is receiving legal aid in his fight against extradition back to Albania that is costing the UK taxpayer tens of thousands of pounds.

His case has been listed before judges 19 times during the lengthy court battle.

Westminster Magistrates' Court heard today there is a 'suggestion' he will appeal for asylum.

Sadushi was convicted in his absence in Albania of three murders and one attempted murder in 1997.

His case is being held up while assessments are carried out on his mental health.

At the hearing, Sadushi was ordered back to Belmarsh Prison, having spent just over a month undergoing assessments at Broadmoor mental hospital.

Anne Marie Kundert, for the Albanian government, said: 'This case has not been able to proceed as Mr Sadushi has been committed to Broadmoor hospital under the mental health act.

Islamists Protest In London Against French Mali Intervention

The French have entered the battle against Islamic imperialism in Mali. It took the capture of Konna in central Mali for French President Francois Hollande to finally get involved.

"French forces brought their support this afternoon to Malian army units to fight against terrorist elements," French President Francois Hollande said in a statement. "This operation will last as long as is necessary."

On Friday France began air strikes against the rebels. Backed by international forces, the Malian army was able to stop the advance by the Al-Qaeda-linked militants and recapture the key town of Konna, which had been seized by insurgent forces earlier, said the country’s defense officials.

But it wasn't until the Islamist extremists- who have control of northern Mali- started marching southward  that Mali's president Dioncounda Traore finally decided  to declare a state of emergency, and ask for France's help. Nigeria, Senegal and the U.N. are also pitching in.

The UN Security Council has also called for a 'swift deployment' of foreign troops to Mali. It has approved plans to send some 3,000 African troops to recapture the country's north.

Meanwhile, in London, 60 or so Islamists (including their children) planted themselves in front of the French Embassy to protest France's intervention.  The ingrates, who are all probably on the dole, stood there with the usual anti-Western, pro-Shariah banners.

The demonstrators held placards reading "French army, you will pay, the Muslims are on their way", "United Nations, go to hell" and "Sharia is the only solution for Mali".

French President Francois Hollande sent troops on Friday to help Malian forces hold back an advance by Islamist rebels, and on Saturday Paris announced that a French military pilot had been killed.

"Francois Hollande, you are a Satan," one of the protesters, Abu Shaafehi, said in French through a loudspeaker. "Sharia for France!"

The protest was divided into two groups, separated by several meters, of men in traditional dress and women in veils.

A group of British police stood guard outside the embassy but the protest dispersed peacefully.

I don't know why the Brits don't just ship them all home. They'd be far happier there.

Romanian Who Bilked £2.9 million Gets To Stay In UK To Protect Human Rights

33-year-old Romanian gypsy Lavinia Olmazu, who spent 2 plus years in jail for bilking the British system out of at least £2.9 million, was supposed to have been deported after her release. But Olmazu will get to stay in England with her 12-year-old son after using Article 8 of the Human Rights Act to make her case. Yes, she claimed her human rights would be violated if she was sent back to Romania, and the judges concurred.

Article 8 guarantees the 'right to family life', so mum decided that since her son had spent the bulk of his life in England, and spoke little Romanian (or so she claims) they deserved to stay. All this in spite of the fact that the son was born in Romania, his biological father lives in Romania, and mum's partner-in-crime, Alin Enachi, is also Romanian.

Apparently, Olmazu

.. was employed by two London boroughs and homeless charity the Big Issue to help integrate Romanian gipsies into British society.

She was jailed after she abused her position of trust with the authorities and Roma community to orchestrate an elaborate fraud that cost taxpayers millions – and gained her and her partner tens of thousands of pounds.

They charged £80 each to provide hundreds of immigrants from Romania with false National Insurance numbers so they could claim thousands of pounds in benefits they were not entitled to.

Armed with an NI number, their clients claimed handouts including child benefit, child tax credit, working tax credit, as well as use the NHS and other welfare services.

Under rules introduced when Romania joined the EU in 2007, Romanian immigrants cannot get a National Insurance number – which is the key to getting benefits – unless they can prove they have paid employment lined up.

Operating from their suburban home in Woodford Green, Essex, they provided 368 false NI numbers. Of these, 172 were successfully used to claim benefits resulting in fraud totalling £2.9million.

But at the time it was reported the scam could have cost taxpayers up to £10 million if all of the fraudulent documents had been used, police revealed.

Not only was she not deported, she now has a job with another charity, Media Diversity Institute, which is partially sponsored by the British government.  I wonder how long it will take her to start pilfering from that organization.

However, not everyone was thrilled with the decision to allow her to stay. The Home Office tried its best to kick her out, but was thwarted by a judge who felt the boy had the right to finish his schooling here.

The case is among the first to be considered by senior immigration judges after an attempt by Theresa May to make it more difficult for immigration criminals to stay.

In June Mrs May declared war on judges who refused to deport foreign criminals because of their human rights, saying the courts should stop allowing overseas prisoners, law-breakers and illegal immigrants to stay in Britain on the grounds that they have a right to a family life.

She promised a vote in Parliament to ram home to judges ‘what the public believe’ and persuade them ‘to take into account what Parliament has said’.

Failure by the judiciary to listen will result in new laws to curb the exploitation of the human rights legislation by foreign criminals, Mrs May said.
MPs of all parties voted unanimously in support of the stricter guidelines.

Since when do criminals have rights?  They lose their rights when they commit crimes. The Brit nanny state cares  more for the rights of criminals and freeloaders than the hard working, over taxed, British worker.

'Honor Killing' Gets Couple 25 Years In British Prison

25 years in prison doesn't seem much for parents who killed and dismembered their own daughter simply because she wanted to integrate into Western society, but that's what Iftikhar and Farzana Ahmed got for murdering 17-year-old Shafilea. Sentenced to at least 25 years by British Court Judge Roderick Evans, they will be eligible for parole at that time.

Shafilea, who had wanted to be an attorney, had been reported missing by her Pakistani parents.

The girl's dismembered body was found on a riverbank in February 2004, months after she disappeared in 2003.

The death was the final act in a long-running effort by the couple to get their daughter to conform to their beliefs, Detective Superintendent Geraint Jones told reporters.

"When this failed, they murdered her, a vile and disgraceful act," he said.

In sentencing the couple, Evans said they had used "intimidation, bullying and ... physical violence" in an effort to force her to adopt ways they viewed as more culturally appropriate.

"Your problem was that, in what you referred to as your 'community,' Shafilea's conduct was bringing shame upon you and your concern about being shamed in your community was greater than your love of your child," Evans told the couple, according to a transcript provided by court officials. "In order to rid yourselves of that problem, you killed Shafilea by suffocating her in the presence of your other four children."

Melissa Powner, a friend of the slain girl, told reporters the conviction "brought our friend the justice she deserves." "If there is one thing that we pray will come from this, it is that her beautiful face and tragic story will inspire others to seek help and make them realize that this kind of vile treatment, no matter what culture or background they are from, is not acceptable and there is a way out," Powner said in a statement to reporters.

Both had categorically denied involvement in their daughter's death until the mother pointed the finger at her husband.

On Monday, Farzana Ahmed testified that she had tried to intervene to protect the girl, but her husband pushed her away and punched her, according to CNN affiliate ITV. She said she was "extremely scared" when she fled the room and stayed in a bedroom with other children until she heard a car leaving 20 minutes later.

When her husband returned alone, she said, she asked where her daughter was.

"If you care for your dear life and that of your children, don't ever ask me this question again," he told her, ITV reported.

Farzana Ahmed testified Monday that only one of their children, Mevish, was present when she saw her husband attacking Shafilea.

She probably did that to save her own hide, since another daughter, Alesha, testified that her mother was just as guilty; and from her testimony, it seems as if Farzana was the instigator.

Alesha said her parents were angry that Shafilea was wearing a short-sleeved, V-neck top, and no sweater, on the night she was killed.

"Just end it here," Farzana said to Iftikhar, according to their daughter.

They pushed Shafilea onto a sofa and suffocated the struggling girl, Alesha testified.

Prosecutor Andrew Edis called it "an act of suffocation by both parents acting together."

Police will review evidence that came out during trial and could decide to seek additional charges, Detective Chief Inspector Chris Ankers said.

They should have stayed in Pakistan if they had no intention of integrating, or at least allowing their children to do so. Now they get to spend a good chunk of their lives behind bars. I'm sure Allah would be so proud of them.

Shafilea can finally rest in peace. Some justice has been done.

Polygamy in British Muslim Community "Rife"

According to this BBC article, polygamy is far more prevalent in Britain than most Muslims over there are willing to admit. Dr. Zabina Shahian, a 40-something GP, was "devastated" after she discovered (through detective work) that her husband still had a wife and three kids in Pakistan. She's now doing her best to help other Brit Muslim women who are dealing with the same issue, though many in the community are not looking kindly upon her efforts.

"When I go down to my parents I get all the neighbours looking at me.

"As a Muslim woman I'm supposed to keep a low profile. I feel like I've committed a crime here although I'm the victim.

"You're supposed to keep your mouth shut and you're supposed to just carry on. It is impregnated into our culture."

Her 54-year-old husband, former conservative party politician Pervez Choudhry, claimed that he had no clue his Pakistani marriage would be valid in England. It's doubtful that an educated man would have no idea that if you don't divorce your spouse you are still legally bound to that person regardless of where you wind up living.

Though most women don't have the means to do anything about a suspected bigamist husband, Shahian did. She hired a detective and spent two years and a bundle of money to track down information on Choudhry's second family. They discovered that his first wife was the result of an "arranged" marriage in 1986.

Her case against Choudhry, however, is not the norm, since polygamy in the UK usually goes unpunished.

This is because they are able to avoid having their second or third marriages registered in the UK by having a Nikah ceremony instead - an Islamic non-registered marriage contract not recognised under British law.

For a Nikah wedding to be recognised in the UK, the marriage needs to have an accompanying civil ceremony.

Dr Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, director of think tank The Muslim Institute, said men could exploit the "cruel loophole" of the Nikah, allowing them to have more than one wife under Islamic law but not having to register the marriage in the UK, which means the woman would have no spousal rights if the marriage were to fail.

"They dump their first wife and simply go to Pakistan, Bangladesh or wherever and marry again," he said.

Leading family solicitor Annemarie Hutchinson, who represents Muslim women, said no official statistics were available but that Dr Shahian joined thousands of Muslim women in the UK who were victims of polygamous marriages.

"There are lots and lots of second marriages and second wives - it's rife."

But in cases where prosecution would be possible, she said there would be no case "unless the first or second wife pushes for it".

"It's bigamy but the police won't prosecute because there would be thousands of cases," she said.

Siddiqui says that polygamy

"...is so widely spread they don't blame men having a second wife or a third or fourth wife. They accept this is their lot."

It's hard to believe that it's so prevalent in a Western, non-Muslim country- then again, we are talking about Britain that does allow Shariah law.

18% of Young Asian Brits Support 'Honor' Based Violence

A poll sponsored by the BBC found that of the 500 young Asian Brits surveyed, 18% (1 in 5) think it's okay to beat the heck out of women if they've 'dishonored' their families. Killing them, not so much. Only 3% justified 'honor killings' for either

disobeying a father, rejecting a prearranged marriage, or marrying someone unacceptable by the family.

Not surprisingly, 6 percent of those were men as opposed to 1 percent of women.

A great majority of the 16 to 34-year-olds polled believe that 'honor' (as if violence is honorable) is a very important element in family life.  75% of those were men versus 63% of women. 

Violence against women is a huge global problem, but in a culture that devalues women and places more importance on 'honor' it becomes monumental.  And although Muslims aren't the only ones who participate in 'honor killings' and violence against women, it doesn't help matters that the Quran actually promotes wife beating for disobedience.

...a charity that supports victims and survivors of honor based violence, reported on its Website that it receives “on average approximately 5,000 calls a year on our national helpline supporting all victims and survivors of forced marriage and honor based abuse.”

Jasvinder Sanghera, of the Karma Nirvana, fled her parent’s home when they attempted to force her into an arranged marriage at the age of 14.

She urged Asian community leaders in Britain to speak against the honor code, also known as “Izzat” in Urdu language.

“I’ve yet to see community leaders, religious leaders, politicians; Asian councilors give real leadership on this. They don’t because they know it makes them unpopular,” Sanghera told the BBC.

According to a spokesperson for the Iranian and Kurdish Women’s Rights Organization (IKWRO), last year in the U.K. there were over 2,800  cases of  "‘honor’ based violence" reported to the police.

“These figures demonstrate that ‘honor’ based violence is not a minor problem but a very serious issue which affects thousands of people each year, many of whom will suffer high levels of abuse before they seek help,”

Many feel that 'forced marriage' is a major factor in honor based violence, so in an effort to thwart violence against young women who refuse to marry men that their families match them up with, Brit authorities are considering criminalizing it.

The Home Office has launched a campaign seeking public opinion on creating a specific criminal offence for forced marriages and how it should be formulated.

I sincerely doubt anything will come of it. Arranged marriages are a long standing tradition for many Asians, and laws won't prevent them from taking place, or the violence against a daughter/sister who refuses to comply.

Educated Muslim Women In the UK Considering Polygamy

Polygamy is still legal in mainly Arab, Middle Eastern, African and southern Asian countries. Although mostly Muslim, there are a few Christian-majority lands where the practice is permitted, like Zambia, Congo and Uganda. And even in Buddhist Burma (Myanmar) polygamy is legal, though frowned upon by most.  Then you have Sri Lanka, Singapore and India all of which allow polygamous unions for their Muslim citizens only. And though it is illegal in most western countries, Australia and the United Kingdom. permit polygamous marriages as long as they were performed  in a country where it's allowed.

I was actually surprised about Australia, but not so much the U.K.  After all, British Muslims are increasingly turning to Sharia law to settle various matters, and many (not just extremists) are aiming for England to be ruled by Muslims. 

Since having up to four wives is allowed per the Quran, and a good man is hard to find, some Brit Muslim women are  looking to enter into polygamous unions because they'd obviously rather share a man than remain single.  These educated women want to remain in the workforce rather than become the child-bearing maid that many Muslim men expect to marry.

Mizan Raja, 35, who organizes Muslim marriages around the world, told [snip] The Sunday Times, that he has received hundreds of calls in the past six months from women asking about becoming second wives.

“The demand for these relationships is led by the women, not the men. In one generation women have become educated, entrepreneurial and professional.

“The Muslim community is struggling with this, how do you cope with women who wear trousers?” he said.

He added that many Muslim men just wanted a “homemaker”, to come home to a clean house and a plate of food on the table.

Another major problem is that eligible Muslim women far outnumber eligible men in the U.K. Maybe that's because they go to their homeland to find a nice, compliant, dutiful Muslim wife to bring back to England to cook and clean for them, and have their many babies. Or perhaps it's the fact that Muslim men are allowed to marry non-Muslim women, as long as they belong to one of the Abrahamic faiths, whereas Muslim women have to get their beaus to convert to Islam before they can marry. And they say women are equal in Islam. Right.

I honestly cannot fathom how an educated woman would choose to live in a polygamous relationship, then again, I'm not Muslim.
