Mehdi Hasan On Anti-Semitism Within The British Muslim Community
".. mild-mannered and well-integrated British Muslims who nevertheless harbour deeply anti-Semitic views."He goes on to say:
It pains me to have to admit this but anti-Semitism isn’t just tolerated in some sections of the British Muslim community; it’s routine and commonplace. Any Muslims reading this article – if they are honest with themselves – will know instantly what I am referring to. It’s our dirty little secret. You could call it the banality of Muslim anti-Semitism.
I can’t keep count of the number of Muslims I have come across – from close friends and relatives to perfect strangers – for whom weird and wacky anti-Semitic conspiracy theories are the default explanation for a range of national and international events. Who killed Diana and Dodi? The Mossad, say many Muslims. They didn’t want the British heir to the throne having an Arab stepfather. What about 9/11? Definitely those damn Yehudis. I mean, why else were 4,000 Jews in New York told to stay home from work on the morning of 11 September 2001? How about the financial crisis? Er, Jewish bankers. Obviously. Oh, and the Holocaust? Don’t be silly. Never happened.
[snip]
It is sheer hypocrisy for Muslims to complain of Islamophobia in every nook and cranny of British public life, to denounce the newspapers for running Muslim-baiting headlines, and yet ignore the rampant anti-Semitism in our own backyard. We cannot credibly fight Islamophobia while making excuses for Judaeophobia.Read the whole commentary on New Statesman.
Of course, it's not just Muslims who blame everything on the Jews and Zionists- we have our own Jew-blamers right here in the U.S. Many of them are conservatives, conspiracy theorists, and most likely Christians. Take Arizona Republican Mike Harris who blamed the Mossad and Israeli death squads for the Sandy Hook Massacre. Just one of many bizarre conspiracy theories out there.

"Soft War"- Iran Blames The West For Its Drought
Last May, Mahmoud actually blamed the West for sucking the water out of rain clouds and diverting it to their own lands. Ironically, the day he made that statement, it began to rain. This is what he said at the inauguration of a dam in Markazi province:
"Western countries have designed plans to cause drought in certain areas of the world, including Iran. According to reports on climate, whose accuracy has been verified, European countries are using special equipment to force clouds to dump" their water on their continent, he said.
By doing so, "they prevent rain clouds from reaching regional countries, including Iran," Mr Ahmadinejad charged.
He based his argument on some "Western" politician's article that claimed:
"droughts in some regions spanning from Turkey and Iran to east of Asia are predicted for the next 30 years. The regions (referred to in) the article ... include countries whose culture and civilisation frighten the West."
So that was last year. I guess they're still in a drought, because Iran's VP Hassan Mousavi, just declared that south Iran's drought is now a direct result of a "soft war" instigated by the West.
“I am suspicious about the drought in the southern part of the country. The world arrogance and colonist (term used by Iranian authorities to label the West) are influencing Iran’s climate conditions using technology... The drought is an acute issue and soft war is completely evident... This level of drought is not normal.”
Apparently, Iran has been experiencing severe sand storms emanating from Iraq, which has had an increase in desertification as a result of two wars. I'm surprised they aren't blaming Iraq for their drought woes.
Not that they're the only conspiracy nuts out there who buy into that theory. Kurt Nimmo over at Alex Jones' Infowars seems to concur, as do all the other wacko commenters responding to his post.
No, Mahmoud, Hassan and Kurt, the West isn't causing Iran's droughts. If the U.S. had control over the weather we wouldn't have 80% of this country under drought conditions.
Maybe Iran needs to take a look at their actions and see if something they are doing isn't somehow messing with the environment, like drying up Iraq's rivers.
The UK-based International Centre of Development Studies (ICD) warned of an environmental catastrophe that might hit the eastern and southern provinces of Iraq if Iran keeps on tampering with Iraq’s share of rivers that run through both countries.
The ICD report, obtained by Al Arabiya, stated that Iran stopped the flow of Alwand River, which runs from western Iran to eastern Iraq, for the past four years.
This caused the damage of around 10% of arable land and rendered the residents of several villages around the river homeless.
The production of several crops has also been greatly affected whether through quantity with a loss that amounted to 80% in some years or through quality that has witnessed a remarkable drop.
Iran, the report added, has also been pumping drainage water into several Iraqi rivers, which led to a rise in their salinity levels and in turn inflicted a substantial damage on marine life, basically demonstrated in the death of several fish species.
This also caused the migration of birds that lived in the area and the emergence of snakes which attack crops and kill livestock.
Iran has also diverted several tributaries of the Tigris River and built dams on others, which had a negative impact on the residents of provinces overlooking the river.
Read the rest here.
**Note: Al Arabiya inocrrectly quoted International Centre of Development Studies as the source of the information rather than Institute of Development Studies (IDS). I have changed it per ICD's request.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Claims HIV Created By West To Weaken Third World
"Today there is this outstanding question that why so many killer viruses, including the HIV virus, have spread all over the world. Many so-called experts say the spread has come as a result of vices and immoralities but we see that in the centre of the places that these viruses have emerged these immoral acts have not been reported." "Then how is it that at the same time in some African countries they find these viruses?
"It is obvious that the African countries must be plundered of their wealth and resources. The major powers and despots are behind the development of these diseases so they could then sell their drugs and medical equipment to the poor countries".
Huh? What wealth and resources?
I guess he didn't get the memo that the bulk of African countries are piss-poor, and that HIV started in monkeys in Africa and was probably transmitted to humans not through "immoral acts" but rather through consumption of diseased meat.
But a conspiracy theory is far more exotic to Mahmoud and Chavez than the truth. After all, Chavez was busy entertaining the notion that the U.S. gave him, Argentina's Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and several other Latin leaders the big "C". It turns out, however, that Cristina didn't have cancer after all.
Mahmoud also believes 9/11 was an inside job (though there are plenty of loonies in this country who agree with him:
"Some segments within the American government orchestrated the attack to reverse the declining American economy, and its grips on the Middle East, in order to save the Zionist regime," he said.
Ha. That's a good one, since our economy is doing so well, Mahmoud!
Then there's also the fact that he's a holocaust denier, and claims they have no homosexuals in Iran. Of course, that's just wishful thinking on his part. If Mahmoud wasn't so dangerous, he'd be funny.

Psychologists Explain Why 9/11 Truthers Are Right and The Rest Of Us Are In Denial
Right, because those 19 hijackers were figments of our collective imagination.
And these people are practicing psychologists? Scary!
For anyone who might think it's a conspiracy, Debunking9/11 will set you straight.

Yes, Virginia, Al-Qaeda Exists- Latest Issue Of Al-Qaeda's 'Inspire' Magazine
I guess they haven't seen Al-Qaeda's slick online English language magazine, Inspire, downloadable from the various jihadi sites that post it. The latest issue (#7) that Blazing Catfur downloaded and posted here, is worth a look, for all the doubters. Then again, I'm sure they will claim it too is a fabrication.
Not sure what will happen with future issues since Anwar Al-Awlaki was offed, as Inspire was his pet project, but I'm sure someone will carry on the legacy. There will always be another roach looking for his 72 virgins, or willing to inspire others to get their 72.
The latest edition was a special 9/11 edition. The editor in chief Yahya Ibrahim says:
As for conspiracy theories, there's a particularly interesting article about Iran's stance on the issue:
The Iranian government has professed on the tongue of its president Ahmadinejad that it does not believe that al Qaeda was behind 9/11 but rather, the U.S. government. So we may ask the question: why would Iran ascribe to such a ridiculous belief that stands in the face of all logic and evidence?Ridiculous indeed!

[Snip] 9/11 was neither the beginning of the war between the Muslims and the West nor was it the end. It was merely an episode in a long, protracted war that started at the time of the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم and will end with al-Malĥama, the epic battle mentioned in the hadith. [snip]

Stop the Islamisation of Europe demonstration in Brussels on 9/11 banned!!

An organization- 'Stop the Islamisation of Europe' (SIOE)- has organized a peaceful, anti-Islamisation demonstration to be held in Brussels on 9/11. However, it turns out Brussels socialist mayor Freddy Thielemans felt the Muslims might be offended by this demonstration, so he decided to ban it.
The demonstration was intended to commemorate the victims of the 2001 terrorist attacks against the USA with a minute’s silence, on the 6th anniversary of those attacks. It was also intended to show that it was Islamist terrorists who carried out that mass murder and nobody else. SIOE considers that conspiracy theories blaming American and Israeli authorities for the atrocities actually dishonour the victims and their families.
The demonstration was also to protest against the growing Islamisation of Europe whereby Islamic practices and sensitivities are increasingly placed above those of non-Muslims. In a meeting on 7th August with the Brussels police SIOE organisers, Anders Gravers, Stephen Gash and Udo Ulfkotte were informed that policing the demonstration would be no more difficult than for any other similar event. However, on 9th August Mayor Thielemans (now known as Caliphate Freddy the Grand Mufti of Brussels) declared he banned the demonstration because he could not guarantee public safety. The mayor’s spokesman Nicolas Dassonville said: “The danger to public order is too high, to allow the Brussels protest to go ahead. The sizeable foreign community living in the area could react to the action.”
Though Thielemans has officially banned the SIOE protest he has, however, okayed a demonstration (for Sunday, September 9th) by an anti-American group of wacko Truthers (“United for truth” ) who claim Israel and the U.S., not the Islamists, were responsible for the 9/11 tragedy. Yes, they are everywhere and spreading like a fungus. [sigh]
What has always been intended as a peaceful demonstration has now been classified, by Thielemans, as criminal. Not that he used those exact words, but by stating the following he is, in essence, saying as much:
Such incitement to discrimination and hatred, which we usually call racism and xenophobia, is forbidden by a considerable number of international treaties and is punished by our penal laws and by the European legislation. The European Court of Human Rights has repeatedly pronounced judgements condemning this type of acts.
Now the latest news from Brusselistan is that the Arab Europe League (AEL) has announced a counter-demonstration, set for September 11, against
“Islamophobia and racism in Europe”. The AEL is known for some violent protests in Antwerp some years ago.It was founded by Diab Abu Jahjah. During the war last year, he went back to his homeland Lebanon to join Hezbollah in it’s fight against Israel. Diab didn’t return. He decided to stay in Lebanon to start apolitical party there. Since then we didn’t here from the AEL anymore, until now.

Cindy Sheehan trades in her "anti-war" Queendom for the "9/11 Truther movement"
Apparently, Cindy Sheehan has now jumped onto the 9/11 Truther bandwagon.
Paul Joseph Watson Prison Planet Thursday, May 31, 2007
Anti-war icon Cindy Sheehan has gone public on her support for the 9/11 truth movement after she told a radio show that the collapse of the twin towers looked like a controlled demolition and that there should be a new investigation into the terrorist attacks.
Sheehan, who made headlines this week after she distanced herself from the Democratic party and the establishment left, joined Alex Jones to share her views on her skepticism towards the official 9/11 story.
Sheehan said her decision to desert the Democrats was sparked last week when the Iraq war funding bill was passed and it was at this point she realized the Democrats had co-opted her simply to help them regain Congress and that they had no interest in ending the war.
Sheehan attacked Hillary Clinton as a "warhawk" and a "warmonger" and said there was very little distinction between her and John McCain or Rudy Giuliani.
On 9/11, Sheehan expressed her support for the Jersey Girl's petition, which calls for a new independent investigation of the terrorist attacks, slamming the 9/11 Commission Report as a "total travesty and a smokescreen."
"George Bush and Dick Cheney held hands and testified behind closed doors, not under oath," said Sheehan, adding, "There are many things that just don't add up on that day."
Sheehan questioned why U.S. air defenses were distracted by drills and exercises scheduled for the morning of 9/11 and why standard operating procedure for intercepting errant aircraft was not followed for the first and only time in history.
"When you lose control of an airplane, you intercept it with a military jet and that should only take seconds - from what I understand it's not even an order to do that it's mandatory," said Sheehan.
Speaking on the collapse of the twin towers, Sheehan stated, "It does look to me like a controlled demolition - I'm not an expert - but it does look to me like a controlled demolition - I'm looking at common sense."
"I do see some very high profile people saying it was an inside job," concluded Sheehan.

For all you 9/11 Conspiracy Theorists- this one's for you
This is what happens when an F4 Phantom jet crashes into a wall, at over 500 mph. It does NOT leave an imprint in the shape of a plane on the building. It is completely and thoroughly pulverized!
I hope this puts to rest at least that aspect of your ridiculous theory.
