Ottawa Imam Worries About Increase In Young Male Converts To Islam

The rise in young male converts in their 20s and 30s has the imam of a Canadian mosque in Ottawa plenty worried. Sam Metwally heads one of the largest mosques in the city, and it seems this increase has occurred ever since the shooting last October when convert Michael Zehaf-Bibeau gunned down a soldier, and then made his way into the Canadian parliament guns a blazing.

Metwally said anywhere from 15 to 20 men in their 20s to 30s have come to the mosque to convert since the shootings.

“This is the biggest number after an event like this happens, and it was strange,” he said.

What is worrying for the Muslim community is that the new converts are not returning back to the mosques for further education about Islam.

“We try to give them our contacts, we try to encourage them to come again, but unfortunately the vast, vast majority of new converts, they come once and they disappear,” Metwally said.

“They never come back again. And this is a big concern for us.”

Some Muslim leaders demand a strict policy in place at all mosques across Ottawa, requiring potential converts to take a course in order to understand the religion.

“What we’ve been hearing from converts for years is that the Muslim community actually needs to do more for converts,” Amira Elghawaby, a member The National Council of Canadian Muslims, said.

She added: “The community needs to be providing more Muslim 101 classes, we need to be inviting people who are new to the faith to come in and learn.”

If he's that worried, don't do it. Most other religions require lessons before conversion. Maybe he should follow the lead of those other Muslims who allow conversion only after taking a course.

At least he's bringing it to the light.

Liberal Canadian Muslims Protest Against Islamism

Canadian/Pakistani Tarek Fatah, a liberal Muslim, uploaded the following video where he leads a small group of fellow liberal and secular Muslims in a protest in front of the Metro Conventionn Centre in Toronto against Islamism, Islamist apologists, Sharia law and burqas.

They were protesting:

20,000 + Muslim youth were being [being] brainwashed by the 'Who is who' of the World Islamist Movement.

Sad thing is how few people were there. At least they're trying.

Canadian/Israeli Joins Kurds To Fight ISIS In Syria

Another foreigner has joined the Kurdish fighters battling the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) in northern Syria.  This one is female.

A Canadian-born woman who emigrated to Israel and served in its military has joined Kurdish militants fighting Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) insurgents in northern Syria, Israel Radio reported on Monday.

The Canadian foreign affairs ministry would only say, “We are aware of reports that a Canadian individual has joined Kurdish forces.”

The Israel Radio report, which identified the woman as 31 years old and a resident of Tel Aviv, said she had contacted Kurdish fighters over the Internet before traveling through Iraq to train at one of their camps on the Syrian border.

“They are our brothers. They are good people. They love life, a lot like us, really,” she told the radio station.

Canada Looking To Ban Polygamist Immigrants

Canada is thinking about changing some requirements for immigrants: no polygamists or people who fancy forced or child marriages or honor killings or other "barbaric cultural practices" need apply. Of course we know who they're referring to, and good on them. But it beggars the question, is polygamy legal in Canada? If not, why were they allowed to move to Canada to begin with.

According to Canada's Immigration Minister Chris Alexander,

“We are strengthening our laws to protect Canadians and newcomers to Canada from barbaric cultural practices,” Chris Alexander said in a statement, Agence France-Presse reported.

“We are sending a strong message to those in Canada and those who wish to come to Canada that we will not tolerate cultural traditions in Canada that deprive individuals of their human rights.”

You will have to wait until you are 16-years-old to get married (though that is way too young) and forget trying to blame it on "honor" if you kill your wife or children.  This has happened quite often in Canada in recent years, which is one reason they are planning on creating these restrictions.

Now, how about enacting similar immigration laws here in the United States? Oh right, we have the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and a bunch of liberals who will cry "racism" or "Islamophobia."

Good luck Canada.

Jihadist Omar Khadr To Get $700 From Gay Atheist Canadian's Will

Children are just as capable of murder as adults, and 26-year-old Canadian Omar Khadr proved that when as a young lad of 15 in Afghanistan he threw a grenade that killed an American G.I. and wounded others including blinding one.  Captured in 2002 and transported to Guantanamo, he finally pleaded guilty in 2010, and was sentenced to 8 years, not including time served. Part of that plea agreement was the  possibility of returning to Canada to finish out the rest of his sentence. That just happened, although many Canadians opposed it, and Khadr was repatriated on September 29 to the country where he was born.

But not everyone was against Khadr's return. In fact, 84-year-old Jack Hallam of Salt Spring Island B.C., is leaving the young Muslim terrorist $700 in his will- with the possibility of an increase- for education.  Ironically, being gay and an atheist to boot, the retired Zoologist doesn't seem to care that in Islam people like him are usually killed.  The fool  just feels sorry for this kid who had no remorse for what he did, and comes from a family that is totally radicalized. His pops, after all, was also a jihadist, before he was killed.

Hallam said of Khadr:

"I think the young man has been treated abominably," Hallam told The Canadian Press on Saturday.

"His story just moved me. He was tortured, he was kept in solitary confinement, he had light deprivation."

He just wants the kid to adjust to living in Canada again, although Khadr's family, including his mum, has always been very anti-Western. A lifetime of radical religious indoctrination is going to be very hard to wipe out, and although Khadr says he wants to get into some kind of medical career, I don't doubt he'll be back on the jihadi path in a very short time. According to one of Khadr's Canadian attorneys, John Norris, Khadr apparently received a high school education in Guantanamo starting in 2008 and wants to further his education.

"His American military defence lawyers deserve tremendous credit. And one of them, who I think had visited Canada once or twice, had to learn Canadian geography so he could sit down with Omar and teach him Canadian geography."[snip] Norris said he hopes Khadr will be able to continue his education in Canada so he can have a chance at a normal life.

Dream on.  Khadr will never have a normal life. Norris goes on to criticize both Canada and the U.S. saying:

"There was an abysmal failure on Canada's part to come to his aid and to defend him as a child, which obviously he was and which Canada, on many different fronts, was obliged to do."

"Instead of doing that, they really threw up their hands and said, `We're going to let the American process run its course.

"On the American side, they threw him into a place where no one belongs, an utterly illegal and illegitimate detention facility. But Omar particularly did not belong there because of the clear international consensus that children should not be prosecuted with anything in connection with a war or a war crime."

Wrong. If a kid is radicalized enough to kill people, then he's a terrorist and war criminal and deserves no special treatment. It's not like he wasn't old enough to know what he was getting into.

Canadians, angry about the repatriation,  kindly donated almost $30,000 to the family of Christopher Speer, the soldier who was killed in the attack.

Canada Under Influence of 'Zionist Regime' Claims Iran After Diplomatic Ties Severed

Canada isn't paying much attention when it comes to private Muslim elementary schools, like Wali ul Asr- which is obviously teaching the children there to hate Israel, if the children's art is any indication.

At least they're doing the right thing as far as Iran goes.   The U.S. has had no formal ties with Tehran since 1980, as a result of the Iranian hostage crisis at the American Embassy. Like Cuba, we have an 'Interests Section" working out of the Swiss Embassy, but that's it.  But  now, the Canadian Government has  broken ties with Iran in response to various factors including the dire situation in Syria and the Iranian government's support of Syria's Assad.

According to a statement by Foreign Minister John Baird:

“Canada has closed its embassy in Iran, effective immediately, and declared personae non gratae all remaining Iranian diplomats in Canada.

“Canada’s position on the regime in Iran is well known. Canada views the Government of Iran as the most significant threat to global peace and security in the world today.

“The Iranian regime is providing increasing military assistance to the Assad regime; it refuses to comply with UN resolutions pertaining to its nuclear program; it routinely threatens the existence of Israel and engages in racist anti-Semitic rhetoric and incitement to genocide; it is among the world’s worst violators of human rights; and it shelters and materially supports terrorist groups, requiring the Government of Canada to formally list Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism under the Justice for Victims of Terrorism Act.

“Moreover, the Iranian regime has shown blatant disregard for the Vienna Convention and its guarantee of protection for diplomatic personnel. Under the circumstances, Canada can no longer maintain a diplomatic presence in Iran. Our diplomats serve Canada as civilians, and their safety is our number one priority.
“Diplomatic relations between Canada and Iran have been suspended. All Canadian diplomatic staff have left Iran, and Iranian diplomats in Ottawa have been instructed to leave within five days.

Naturally, Iran did not take kindly to having diplomatic ties severed, and its diplomats forced to pack their bags and hit the road. Canada is "under the influence of the Zionist regime," Iran claims, and Ramin Mehmanparast said they will get back at Canada's 'extremist' government for its decision. Whatever that means. Canada an extremist government? How's that for a good laugh.

Now we need the rest of the world to follow suit, then maybe things will change in Iran.

Women Need To Cover Up To Prevent Rape, Claims Toronto Muslim Preacher

Like England, Canada has its fair share of radical Muslims, including 33-year-old street preacher Al-Haashim Kamena Atangana, a convert from Christianity who blames women who get raped on the way they dress. There have been a rash of sexual assaults against women at Toronto's York University, and his solution: make 'em dress like Muslimahs. The dolt told the Toronto Sun:

"the reason ... these sex attacks are continuously happening is because (of) Canadian laws, which give too much freedom to women" when it comes to how they dress. You should take your example from the way Muslim women dress. Why does (sic) Muslim women who wear long dress and covers her head aren't targeted for sex attacks?"

"the reason ... a woman gets raped is because of the way she (dresses)"

He wants the city of Toronto to set a precedent by becoming:

"..the first city in North America to introduce laws that would make it illegal for women to dress provocatively. If (women) want to prevent being sexually assaulted, they should cover themselves."

Though he knows women in the West won't adopt Muslim dress, he says there should definitely be a "dress code".

Blaming sexual harassment and assault on a provocatively dressed woman is a fallacy, since fully veiled women are subjected to rape and sexual assault all the time in Muslim countries. In fact, this UK cleric claims there is no rape within marriage- in other words, it's okay to rape your wife. And sexual harassment in Egypt is commonplace, something Egyptian women have to deal with on a daily basis.

But few in the Muslim world will admit to the fact that there is as much, if not more, sexual violence in their world as there is in Western societies. And in Muslim majority countries, women who are raped are jailed, killed, or forced to marry their rapists.

Antagana has a website- Muslimsupport.net - that advises men and women how to dress:

"Men must cover their body from the navel to the knees. But when praying he must also cover his shoulder."

"Women must cover their whole body except the face, hands and feet while inside. But they are also required to cover their whole body including a part of the face while going out, according to the majority of the Madhabs (school of thought)."

In response to Antagana's quest to cover up Toronto women, Dr. Farzana Hassan, former president of the Canadian Muslim Council, wrote this opinion piece in the Toronto Sun.

Women are "raw meat" waiting to be devoured by men because of their dress, declared an Australian imam in 2006.

Six years later, and in our own backyard, a young convert to Islam, Al-Haashim Kamena Atangana is proposing new laws in Canada that would require women to cover up "like Muslim women," concealing all but their eyes and hands. He contends that the high incidence of rape in North America is because of how women dress in Western countries. The new laws would make it "illegal for women to dress provocatively in the streets," and would thereby take away the freedoms Western women enjoy.

Canadian women would have to be covered up in burkas, abayas and hijabs. They would presumably also be segregated, and their male relatives would monitor and control their behaviour. So what is it about Islamist men and their preoccupation with sex that awakens such paranoia about women's garb?

First, many Islamist men do not understand the imperative of consent in a sexual relationship. They believe rape is a normal rather than a criminal reaction to female physiology, and assume that this would be every man's response to a glimpse of some skin.

Muslim men need to start taking responsibility for their own lack of self control.  It shouldn't be so hard for those who claim to be so religious and pious. Just don't look!

Muslim Cabbies Refuse Passengers With Dogs- In Canada and U.S.

Looks like Canada is having Muslim cabbie troubles now. Back in 2007, Minneapolis-St Paul Airport had a major problem with Somali (mostly) Muslim cab drivers refusing service to passengers with alcohol or dogs.  Even someone with a seeing-eye dog could be stranded for a long period of time. That's because of the 900 or so licensed cabbies at the airport, a good three-quarters of them are Muslim. And Muslims don't like dogs. They're haram (forbidden) per Islam, because their saliva is considered unclean. And transporting alcohol is a major sin, forget about actually imbibing.

This article was written at the beginning of 2007, and for the five years prior to that at least 5,400 travelers were refused service for either having a pet or guide dog, or were carrying alcohol. So airport commissioners were contemplating punishing those cab drivers who discriminate against people for those reasons. They, of course, claimed that they were the ones being discriminated against.

"It is against our faith and the airport is discriminating against Muslim drivers," says a cab driver who would only give his first name, Hashim.

According to Patrick Hogan of the Metropolitan Airports Commission:

"There are times where cab after cab will refuse service, and passengers can be waiting for 20 minutes. We've had complaints of people being asked if they had any alcoholic beverages in their luggage. We were seeing an average of 77 refusals a month," he says, "Now we're seeing between 8 and 20."

That's because, thanks to 9/11, we can't travel with anything larger than 2 or 3 ounces on board anymore.

Licensed cab drivers aren't supposed to discriminate, unless they feel threatened in some way, and surprisingly the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) agreed :

"This is a public access issue," says Chuck Samuelson, of the American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota, "Bottom line is we are a secular society, and that's the way it is."

After the commission refused attempts at compromise, CAIR finally stepped in and resolved the issue.

After CAIR-MN facilitated dialogue between the two groups and cleared the misunderstanding, the Muslim taxi drivers offered free rides to attendees of the American Council of the Blind Convention in downtown Minneapolis. Abdinoor Ahmed Dolal, owner of Twin Cities Airport Taxi, said “Islam forbids us to turn away a blind passenger, whether they have a guide dog or not. Their rights come first.”

Apparently, dogs aren't such a major issue for Muslims after all:

An Iman from the local Az-Zahraa Islamic Centre, Javed Jaffri, researched the dog topic and served as an expert witness for a blind man refused passage by a Muslim taxi driver. Jaffri spent long hours on this, and provided an unbiased interpretation of the Koran that indicated “there is nothing saying that one must refuse service to another person because of the fear of contamination by a dog.”

He also said that “there can be exceptions to blanket refusals to deal with dogs, especially if it means helping someone in need. All that would be required in most circumstances would be for a Muslim person to wash their hands before eating if they have been in contact with a dog. That’s not a terrible task to go through,” he said.

But there are still problems in Canada, according to a post on Blazing Catfur.

Toronto Sun columnist Sue-Ann Levy discusses her trouble hailing a cab at Pearson Airport because of her dachsie Kishka. At 1:30 a.m. On her third try she finally found a cabbie who would take her and Kishka home.

After posting on Facebook, she found out she wasn't alone.

What I realized is that this occurs quite often not only at the airport but in Toronto proper and is happening due to religious reasons — that is, because dogs are considered unclean in certain religions.

In fact, Gail Beck-Souter, general manager of Beck Taxi that operates about 900 cars in Toronto, confirms that if certain Muslims take a dog in their vehicle, they are required to go home and shower afterwards (before they pray).

It would seem that the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) which licenses limos that pick up at Pearson airport and the companies that operate out of the airport have bent over backwards to accommodate the religious demands of their drivers — who clearly have strength in numbers.

McIntosh Limousine manager Anne Ruddy claimed the driver who turned me down, a gentleman from India, did so because he “doesn’t have to” take dogs.

But the driver would have to take Kishka if he was a service dog — that’s the “law,” she said.

She denied Muslim drivers in their fleet would ever turn down dogs for religious reasons contending it has more to do with “them being scared” of dogs.

Asked how she felt about a woman being denied a ride at 1:30 a.m., Ruddy said she “hates the idea” but they have to “abide by the GTAA rules” — they “don’t have a choice.”

I had to laugh when I read the description of their drivers on the McIntosh website, most particularly this gem: “Our drivers have taken sensitivity training...”

Guess that sensitivity training didn’t include the part about not leaving a woman stranded at 1:30 a.m.

Someone needs to start educating these people that if it's just the saliva they're worried about, carry a nice big bottle of Purell, and keep it in the car. Ironically, they are probably handling things that are far dirtier and unclean than a dog's saliva, which is pretty filthy.

Omar Ahmed Khadr- The Terrorist No-One Wants

No-one wants Omar Ahmed Khadr, the 25-year-old Canadian al-Qaeda murdering terrorist (of Egyptian ancestry), who was captured after a deadly firefight in Afghanistan in 2002 when he was a baby-faced 15 year-old teen. Most of his time since then has been spent in Guantanamo, but the U.S. wants him out and is ready to send him back after a plea deal was reached in 2010 allowing him to serve the rest of his short sentence in a facility in Canada. The trouble is, the Canadians don't want him there either.

According to an interview on Sun News with U.S. Forensic Psychiatrist, Dr.  Michael Welner, Khadr was evaluated back in 2010 (at the behest of the Pentagon) to determine just how dangerous he really was, and the results were not at all promising. Khadr, wants to go home and "become a contributing member of our society," so says his lawyer, John Norris, but Welner has 73 reasons why Khadr still poses a danger to Western society, including the fact that:

1. he has no remorse for his terrorist activities, including killing a U.S. soldier
2. he bragged about killing SFC Christopher Speer
3. tests revealed Khadr as an angry and manipulative young man
4. Khadr has not been de-radicalized, even though his defense team recommended it as recently as 2009
5. the Imam they wanted to help him de-radicalize (who has called President Obama a "house slave") is a radical himself
6. he's actually not eligible to enter a de-radicalization programme because his family is highly radicalized.

Yes, papa Ahmed was also allegedly a terrorist (or at the very least a sympathizer) until he was killed alongside other al-Qaeda and Taliban militants in Afghanistan in 2003; and several of his brothers also have extremist tendencies. In fact, even mama Khadr is very anti-Western, which is why the Khadr kids were often shuttled back and forth from Canada to Pakistan and Afghanistan, where Khadr supposedly worked for several charitable NGOs. Even though mama Khadr thinks Western society turns kids into gay, drug addicts, she's back living in Canada.  I guess she had no problem with the Afghan opium trade, and the gay Pashtuns.

I'd like to think that people are redeemable, but religious extremists (especially Muslims) don't easily let go of their fanatical ideology, and the recidivism rate for radical Muslims (especially former Guantanamo detainees) is apparently very high.
So what will happen to Omar? Canada will reluctantly repatriate him, he'll serve out the rest of his sentence there, he'll be back out on the streets, and soon ship off to Yemen to join his Qaeda buddies.
We shall see.
