Don't Go See Noah- From a Conservative Perspective

To be fair, it's not just Muslims who are dead-set against  anyone seeing Russell Crowe's latest movie "Noah."  Here are the reasons why you should not go from the perspective of a conservative non-Muslim woman.

Kira Davis writes:

Imagine an atheist with serious daddy issues writes a retelling of the Biblical story of Noah. Imagine that story is then adapted for the screen by L.Ron Hubbard and Oprah Winfrey and co-directed by Michael Bay and Spike Jonze. Now imagine the entire set and wardrobe of ‘Waterworld’ has also been repurposed for that movie.

Now imagine paying $11 to see said movie. That’s basically ‘Noah’ in a nutshell.

[snip]

I won’t beat around the bush – everything you feared about this movie is true. If you are a Christian or Jewish and hold dear the tale of Noah and his Ark you will barely recognize the story as told in this film. You will most certainly not recognize God, who is not mentioned by name one time in throughout the entire film (not odd, considering that is a Jewish custom) and is portrayed exactly as Bill Maher described Him – a narcissistic murderer.

[snip]

There is no joy to be found in this film. This is a movie about how mankind ruins everything and how much God hates that. It is the very opposite of the Biblical message. The Bible is the story of God’s desire to be a Father, and how even when his children became wicked and strayed He has always been in pursuit of our hearts. He has always valued us. The story of Noah is a story of mercy, not vigilante justice.
Aronofsky’s Noah hates mankind. He believes the “creator” has ordered him to let humanity die out with his own family, even going so far as to attempt to kill his own grandchildren rather than let his line continue. When he changes his mind it is direct defiance to the “creator”. God=evil, distant and uncaring. Man=flawed, loving and just.

This is what a commenter on the conservative lJReview had to say about the film:

Saw it yesterday. This review is correct. What I saw it as is basically an anti capitalism/climate change movie most likely written by the current head of the EPA.. It was far more loaded with liberal political themes then anything from the bible. This was the work of a Hollywood liberal attempting to co-opt the bible as a vehicle for his left wing political views. Liberals like this guy and a lot of others in Hollywood are always attempting to make movies that further the socialist/Marxist/anti capitalistic views most of them hold. Most of them fail miserably. Advice to Hollywood. If you want to further your political views, go ahead, it's free country. Just don't warp the messages in the bible to do it. It will fail every time.

I won't see it, but decide for yourselves whether it's worth supporting.

Statistician Nate Silver- GOP Has 60% Chance Of Retaking Senate In 2014 Midterms

We have the midterm elections coming this year, and conservatives might be in for some very good news if statistician Nate Silver of ESPN's 'FiveThirtyEight' is right. The man who predicted Barack Obama's win and how all 50 states would vote in 2012, believes that the GOP has a 60% chance of winning back the Senate this year.  He is basing this on Obama's current abysmal approval rating and some strong GOP candidates. This, of course, could change depending on what happens between now and November.  Last year Silver believed it to be a toss-up.

Let's hope he's right, but the liberal media has another 7 months or so to do some damage.

Russell Crowe's "Noah" Is Haram According to Some Muslims

The latest Russell Crowe film "Noah" is haram (forbidden) according to one niqab-clad British woman on YouTube, because as a prophet of Islam he should not be portrayed in an shape or form. Guess no-one informed her that Noah's time predates Islam, so they don't have dibs on him.

In her video, she explains why Muslims should not watch the movie:

This is a Response to Hollywood who are releasing a Film this week about Noah (as) claiming that he was an animal rights activist and environmentalist. BUT Who is the REAL Noah? What was his REAL Message? Why were the People Destroyed?

Answers you need to find out the Truth to save yourself from the Storm.

All but one commenter agrees.

Emad Adel:

don't worry.. I'll watch it because I'm Tunisian, and it's Halal for us

Watch if you can bear to just look at her eyes.

This guy has three reasons why he refuses to watch the movie, and urges other Muslims to follow his lead.

Liberty Island Magazine- Looking For Conservative and Libertarian Writers

For all you conservative, libertarian writers out there, there's a new kid on the block.  Liberty Island has just launched its website and is looking for collaborators of the right-ilk. Their mission statement tells it best.

Once upon a time the mainstream culture was conservative and the so-called counterculture was left wing. Today the situation is reversed and a new counterculture has arisen, one that boldly challenges the cynicism, nihilism, and stifling political correctness of popular culture today.

Our mission is to support this raw and untamed counterculture by gathering its creators in one place and providing the tools and resources they need to succeed. Here they can present their latest works, interact with colleagues, and connect with a likeminded audience. At Liberty Island, readers of a conservative or libertarian bent can find fiction, music, video and graphics that reflect their social values and political beliefs -- and readers of all persuasions can find new voices and undiscovered talent. Writers and creators you've never heard of, and won't find anywhere else, because their views have been excluded from the mainstream popular culture.

Think of Liberty Island as a rallying point for a revolt against conformity and groupthink. We aim to be the missing link in a cultural feeder system that has systematically marginalized those who did not go to the right schools, attend the proper writing programs, or toe the correct ideological line. At Liberty Island, good still triumphs over evil, hope still overcomes despair, and America is still a noble experiment and a beacon to the rest of the world.

What is Liberty Island? An imaginative colony. A playground for the mind. A place where your right brain is allowed to run free. Join us! Like Plymouth, Jamestown, or Ellis Island in its heyday, Liberty Island is open for business.
A press release further explains why the need for a non-mainstream publishing site.

Adam Bernstein and David Bellow are the founders, and all writers are welcome.

One writer who has found a home there is Roy "Griff" Griffis. He found me through my blog many moons ago, and has kept in touch. Here is his latest short story posted on Liberty Magazine.

Remember, support conservative artists.

64 Years Of Chinese Occupation In Tibet - Video

China invaded Tibet in 1950. During the last 64 years of  'occupation' the Tibetans have suffered greatly at the hands of the Chinese. Oppressed and suppressed, over one million people have lost their lives. Self-immolation is common, and there are more ethnic Chinese there now, than Tibetans.

"There have been reports of cultural, economic, religious and political oppression for decades."

Flying a Tibetan flag or shouting "Free Tibet" can get you arrested.

China, of course, denies it all, and world leaders rarely bring the issue of occupation to the table when meeting with Chinese leaders. They're too afraid to ruffle feathers of what has become an emerging super power.

Ironically, those who are quick to rule Israelis as occupiers remain relatively mum about the Chinese occupation of Tibet, which truly is an occupation. The only Hollywood-type to come to mind is Richard Gere, who has long been involved in the Free Tibet movement. On the other hand, the Boycott Israel movement  (BDS) has a very long list of Hollywood supporters.

Then there are the fools who compare what is happening in Tibet to what they believe is happening in Israel, and many of those are not liberals. But there is no comparison.

Why haven't they created a Boycott China movement?  Because, I believe, the whole Boycott Israel movement has more to do with rampant anti-Semitism than it does any so-called occupation.

Al-Nusra Front Video Shows Prepping Execution of Saudis

Al-Nusra Front jihadists fighting in Syria have just uploaded another video to YouTube showing the usual 'pre-execution' formalities of two men.  You know, all that jabbering about whatever crime the soon-to-be dead are guilty of before the customary allahu akbars, and subsequent execution. Since the men are uniformed you might think they're Bashar al-Assad's men, since the rebels are supposedly there fighting the regime. But in this case, the men were actually Saudis who were fighting with al-Nusra before supposedly switched to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), another al-Qaeda-linked group.

According to Al Arabiya, the executioner (gun in hand) recites some verses from the Quran,  mentions the ages and birthplaces of the men, and then accuses them of "betraying" al-Nusra. The video ends before they are executed, at least on the video Al Arabiya posted on its website.

Apparently, al-Nusra and ISIS are now also fighting each other. There are so many different foreign jihadist groups in Syria, maybe they'll just kill each other off. I say have at it boys.

Al Qaeda Group Threatens Assassination of French President Hollande

Al Qaeda is threatening other people, for a change.  It's usually Americans that terrorists have in their cross hairs, but this time they're targeting the French, especially president Francois Hollande.  They want him dead because France went to the aid of all the Muslims in Mali who wanted nothing to do with extremism.
The al-Minbar Jihadi Media Network, an Islamist terrorist web site, has called for Muslims worldwide to stage attacks in France and on French institutions and interests in support of the Muslim Jihad against Christianity.

"Supporting them is an easy matter for every honest and loyal person, because the embassies of France fill the lands of the Muslims, not to mention the lions of our Ummah who live in the West," al-Minbar said in a message.

"To our lone wolves in France, assassinate the president of disbelief and criminality, terrify his cursed government, and bomb them and scare them as a support to the vulnerable in the Central African Republic," another message stated, referring to the ongoing fighting between rebel groups in the strife-riven African nation.

"Neither Hollande, nor his soldiers will know peace in France as long as the Muslims of Mali and the Central African Republic cannot live properly in their country."
Jihadists think they know what's best for all Muslims. In fact, they think they know what's best for  us infidels too.

Hollande doesn't seem too phased about the threats though.

"this is not the first time there have been threats"  "we are being very vigilant."
Vigilance doesn't necessarily prevent terrorist attacks, but am wishing France the best.

Christian Villagers In Laos Told To Renounce Faith Or Face Expulsion

Muslim-majority countries aren't the only ones persecuting Christians.  According to various Christian Internet news sites, including Morningstar News, Christian converts in communist Laos are being given an ultimatum- renounce their Christian faith or face expulsion from their village.

NEW DELHI (Morning Star News) – More than two dozen Christian converts in a village in southern Laos could be expelled for their faith if government officials fail to keep local authorities from violating their constitutional rights, according to an advocacy group.

The Christians from eight families in Natahall village, in Savannakhet Province’s Phin District, were told to recant their faith three months ago, according to a representative with Human Rights Watch for Lao Religious Freedom (HRWLRF).

“The threats are very real … Officials are still intending to carry out the threats. The deadline for expulsion has passed,” said the HRWLRF source, who requested anonymity. “Christian residents of Natahall village are fighting hard to keep their homes as well as their constitutionally guaranteed right to believe in the Christian faith.”

Religious affairs officials from Phin District are holding discussions with the Natahall village chief, identified only as Amka, leaders of the local chapter of the ruling Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and district police. The threat of expulsion, however, has not been withdrawn, the source said.
Local officials on Dec. 2 sent an eviction order to five Christian families, according to HRWLRF. On Dec. 8, 2013, the village chief publicly declared that the Christian families who had converted to Christianity would be held responsible for any deaths villagers might suffer as a result of spirits angered by violation of traditional beliefs and customs. Animism and ancestor worship are prevalent across Laos.
