Irvine 11 Appeal Conviction In Michael Oren Shoutdown

Back in 2010 during a speech at U.C. Irvine, Israel Ambassador Michael Oren was relentlessly heckled by a group of rowdy, disruptive, disrespectful Muslim students. They eventually left after some of them were escorted out. 11 of them- known as 'the Irvine 11'- were prosecuted for conspiring to disrupt and disrupting Oren's February 8, 2010 speech. Ten of them were convicted.

The students, who faced up to a year in jail on the misdemeanor counts, were sentenced to three years of probation, 56 hours of community service and fines.
Naturally, there were the typical cries of Islamophobia, and claims that their free speech rights were violated, but no mention of the flagrant attempts to censor Michael Oren.

Now the Irvine 11 have just filed an appeal, after having completed their community service. Not sure what they hope to accomplish, it's quite evident in the video below they violated Oren's freedom of speech.

Hopefully they have learned that everyone has a right to speak, even those they disagree with, but somehow I doubt it.

Chechnya's Kadyrov Condones 'Honor Killings'

The one thing that can be said for communist rule under the Soviets was the fact that they managed to maintain control over the Islamist elements in their midst. No forced veils for women, no gender separation, women had equal rights. Yes, there were other major issues regarding lack of freedom (including religious), but that lack was not imposed by religion.  But as is happening in Africa and the Middle East, the rise of hardline Islam in Muslim-majority countries that used to be secular, like Chechnya (when it was part of the former Soviet Union),  is becoming problematic.

In fact, over the past five years, things have gotten dire for women in Chechnya under the leadership of President Ramzan Kadyrov, whose Mufti, former pro-separatist father, Akhmad Kadyrov, was president for a year until he was blown up in 2004. Women are being forced to wear the hijab (veil), there is government support for polygamy, alcohol is banned and now the Chechen government has formally condoned 'honor killings' against women. In fact they are advocating it. Women are turning up dead all over Chechnya, and Kadyrov's response: they had "loose morals" and so they deserved to die. That's because Kadyrov believes women should remain barefoot and pregnant (a typical fundamentalist Muslim belief) since women are the property of their husbands.
According to Human Rights Watch (HRW) Kadyrov has been quoted as saying:
I have the right to criticize my wife. She doesn’t [have the right to criticize me]. With us [in Chechen society], a wife is a housewife. A woman should know her place. A woman should give her love to us [men]… She would be [man’s] property. And the man is the owner. Here, if a woman does not behave properly, her husband, father, and brother are responsible. According to our tradition, if a woman fools around, her family members kill her… That’s how it happens, a brother kills his sister or a husband kills his wife… As a president, I cannot allow for them to kill. So, let women not wear shorts…

Here in Chechnya if a woman is running around, if a man is running around with her, then the both of them are killed. According to the information available, there was a woman who was “working” with the killed [women] – she wanted to take them away from the [Chechen] Republic, [she] was in the process of obtaining travel passports for them in order to sell them to brothels [abroad]. It’s being said that the women’s relatives [found out and] killed them… I’m simply talking about [our] customs. Ask anyone, even the youngest boy, “What are you gonna do if your sister starts running around?” Anyone will tell you, “I’ll kill her!”

He has also been quoted as saying he wants to make Chechnya “more Islamic than the Islamists.”

Even though Kadyrov is credited with bringing some stability to Chechnya, and was actually nominated by Vladimir Putin for president, he obviously has no respect for Russian law.

Some observers say Mr. Kadyrov’s attempt to impose Islamic law violates the Russian Constitution, which guarantees equal rights for women and a separation of church and state.

“We are a traditional, conservative society, but the government has gone overboard,” said Lipkhan Bazaeva, head of the Women's Dignity Center, a nongovernmental organization promoting women’s rights in Grozny. “They are declaring unacceptable limits on women — as an individual, she has no rights even if her husband beats her, despite Russian laws.”
And the human rights violations that are rampant in Chechnya will remain so, since most activists are too afraid to do anything about it after Natasha Estemirova was murdered.
“You hear about these cases almost every day,” said a local human rights defender, who asked that her name not be used out of fear for her safety. “It is hard for me to investigate this topic, yet I worked on it with [human rights activist] Natasha [Estemirova] for a while. But, I can’t anymore. I am too scared now. I’ve almost given up, really.”

Estemirova, who angered Chechen authorities with reports of torture, abductions and extrajudicial killings, was found in the woods in 2009 in the neighboring region of Ingushetia with gunshot wounds to the head and chest. Her killer or killers have not been found.
But it hasn't stopped the young ones from flouting the strict rules.
Milana, a ninth-grader in Grozny, wears thick eyeliner, dons tight miniskirts, smokes cigarettes and dates boys: all things a proper Muslim girl is forbidden to do in Chechnya.

She said she has heard it from her father countless times: A Chechen girl who loses her virginity before marriage is a prostitute, and Allah will punish her.

“If only my parents knew some of the things I did,” she said with a giggle. “My parents are too strict with me, but it is like that here.”

Analysts say dating can be an escape for teenagers such as Milana who often live double lives.

“It is a great temptation to break from tradition when they are away from their family, said Ms. Bazaeva. “They have a good time, but it is not without consequences, not in Chechnya.”
Some kids marry early to get around the strict rules, like 20-year-old Abu-Khadzh Idrisov who got married at age 14 so he could have sex. Divorced a year later, he remarried at 18 to a girl he kidnapped- a common tradition in Pakistan.
He spotted his future wife at a park in Grozny and, with the help of his friends, kidnapped her.

“When I married her, I honestly knew only two things: her name and the school she studied at. We talked together once,” he recalled. “But we have traditions and extremely strict rules in Chechnya, and you can’t just ignore them. I carry my family’s name, and if I tarnish it, I will have problems.”
I suppose it's easy for a family belonging to a religion that encourages having lots of babies to pop off one of its own. What's the loss of one or two children when they probably have plenty more.

Grand Mufti Of Saudi Arabia Calls For The Destruction Of All Churches In Region

Not to be outdone by Kuwait's decision to ban churches from being built in that Gulf state, Saudi Arabia's head religious honcho, the Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah, has called for the total destruction of "all the churches of the region." According to him, it's "necessary".

And yes, the Christians in the Middle East (especially Cairo and Beirut) are furious, but have they gone out on a rampage burning down mosques and killing Muslims? No, at least not yet. Had this been the Catholic Pope calling on the destruction of all mosques in the West, the Middle East would have been on fire, and the Pope would have a fatwa on his head.

But non-Muslims are a far more tolerant, civilized lot, and one Christian man in Beirut had this to say:

“I mean from a regular, end of the street mosque, this stuff happens all the time, but for the Grand Mufti of a country to say it is simply shocking.”
Because Islam is so tolerant, Abdullah believes (as do many Muslims) that their religion is the only one that should be allowed in the Arabian Peninsula, and he even encouraged Kuwaiti delegates (while speaking in that tiny country) to destroy all their churches, too.

Not all Muslims share those sentiments:

According to religious scholars, however, even during the Prophet Mohamed’s time, Christians and Jews were allowed to practice their faith openly and freely. Christians in Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan largely have open access to churches and places to pray, although regulations in Egypt have been condemned by Christian leaders and activists.

“What we see with this is the turn toward ultra conservatism in the region,” said Egyptian Coptic Christian Noha, adding that “what we need to do now is bring together people and show this mufti that us Christians and Muslims can live and share the same street. And that it is a right granted by Islam for others to pray in their own place.”

Initially, Kuwaiti MP Osama al-Munawer had wanted to do the same thing with the churches in his country. Heck, he even announced those plans on Twitter, no less.  But then changed his mind and said only new non-Islamic buildings of worship would be banned, the churches could stay.

I wonder if we should do the same thing in the West- ban all new construction of mosques.

So much for religious tolerance.

In Islam "Merry Christmas" Is Worse Than Alcohol, Fornication and Killing

According to Brother Abu Mussab Wajdi Akkari, who looks like he's just out of diapers, telling someone "Merry Christmas" is as evil, shirk and kufr as it gets. Yes, those two little words "Merry Christmas" are worse than alcohol, fornication and killing someone.

There are some who don't take such a bah, humbug attitude towards it, like the first Imam in this video, but the second one, Dr. Zakir Naik, is just as anti-Merry Christmas as the silly young brother in the above video, though not quite so extreme.

Lebanese born Akkari now lives in Saudi Arabia, where I'm sure he feels quite at home with all the other Wahhabi lunatics.

Ho, ho, ho.

Turkey Continues To Demand Apology and Payment From Israel- What about the Armenian Genocide?

It seems Turkey continues to insist that Israel apologize for the 9 activists that were killed on the Mavi Marmara, the Turkish ship that was part of the 'Gaza Freedom Flotilla' back in May of 2010. In addition to the apology, they want compensation before they re-establish full diplomatic ties with Israel.

One of the few Middle Eastern/Arab/Muslim countries that had diplomatic ties and friendly relations with Israel, that friendship ended after the Freedom Flotilla attempted to break the the Gaza strip blockade, at least according to Ahmet Davutoglu Turkey's Foreign Minister who said  "Israel buried our friendship in the deep waters of the Mediterranean."

Though it's unfortunate anyone died, placing total blame on the Israeli commandos is questionable. Who, after all, started the violence? In this video it seems quite apparent that the Turks initiated it, and the IDF navy was simply responding.

The flotilla, after all, was forewarned, and obviously chose to ignore those warnings.

The Israel Navy requested the ships to redirect toward Ashdod where they would be able to unload their aid supplies which would then be transferred over land after undergoing security inspections.

Had they truly been interested in 'helping' Gazans in their 'humanitarian crisis', one would think they would happily comply with the Israeli Navy and redirect; but it's quite obvious those flotillas were there as part of the anti-Israel movement. This was made even more obvious with the Red Cross statement that there is no humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

It's too bad Turkey feels that way, considering they have yet to officially apologize for the Armenian Genocide, let alone acknowledge it.

Maybe Israel will apologize after Turkey does.  As for compensation, I think Israel would come out ahead: 9 dead versus upwards of 1 million Armenians.

People who live in glass houses, as they say.

Religious Intolerance: Hindu Doctors Murdered In Pakistan

Pakistan has no tolerance for those of other religions including their own minority Muslim sects, but that's just part and parcel of a predominately Muslim nation.  Minority religions are persecuted, discriminated against and marginalized. And often they are killed for no apparent reason other than the fact that they don't happen to be Muslim.

Take Dr Ashok, Dr Ajeet Kumar and  Dr Naresh- three Hindu brothers who were attacked and murdered in Sindh province. A fourth doctor, Satya Pal, was injured but survived the attack.

There have been the obligatory condemnations of the attack, but that is small comfort to a mother who lost 3 sons in one fell swoop.

Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has strongly condemned the killing of Hindu doctors by armed assailants in Pakistan's Sindh province.
Khan, chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in a satement [sic] issued by his party's central secretariat, said that the murder of Dr Ashok, Dr Naresh and Dr Ajeet Kumar marked a sad day for Pakistan, as PTI (Paksitan Tehreek-e-Insaf) believed in peaceful and harmonious co-existence of all religious and ethnic groups and an indiscriminate practice of the rule of law, Daily Times reported.

It's nice to know that one political party in Pakistan believes in unity and co-existence, but words are cheap and until words are put into action nothing will change.

Human rights groups are planning a rally to protest the killings, but that too won't change things.

Unfortunately, as long as the 'Sharia law', 'non-Muslims are infidels' mentality pervades, and laws are not enacted to protect minority religions in countries like Pakistan, those minorities will continue to targets.
On Thursday, condemning the brutal murder of Hindus in Shikarpur, civil society and human rights organisations announced they would stage "Fill the Besant Hall Road against Religious Intolerance" rally in front of the Theosophical Society's interior Sindh centre in Hyderabad Nov 14.

Stating abdication of governance by the corrupt ruling mafias had resulted in an increase of violence in the society that needed to be checked immediately, Khan condemned the role of the law-enforcement agencies that tended to side with the criminals.

Offices of Charlie Hebdo Firebombed Over 'Charia Hebdo" Islam Edition

Charlie Hebdo is back in the headlines again.  In 2007, the far-left, French satirical weekly took major heat for re-publishing the Danish Jyllands-Posten 'Mo-toons', and posting on the front page a cartoon of Mohammad with the caption "It's hard to be loved by idiots" in French. As a result, publisher Philippe Val was sued by the Paris Grand Mosque and the Union of French Islamic Organizations for racism. A staunch supporter of Israel, the lefty Val won that lawsuit.

The latest with Charlie Hebdo came the day it was due to publish its latest weekly edition skewering Islamic Shariah law.  The name Charlie was replaced with Charia, Prophet Mohammad listed as guest Editor-In-Chief,  captioned with "100 lashes if you don't die of laughter" and dedicated to the Arab Spring.

This time, no-one was going to wait to lose a lawsuit, so in the wee hours of the morning on Wednesday November 2,  the offices of Charlie Hebdo were firebombed, and their website was hacked. Apparently, there was a photo of Mecca and "No God But Allah" along with messages in Turkish and English. But as of today, there are just the words "it works!",  on the screen. Whatever that's supposed to mean.

There are, of course, those dhimmis who condemn Charlie Hebdo for provoking Muslims, like Romina Ruiz-Goiriena of France24 in her Huffington Post article.

By definition, satire is based on the premise that however serious the subject, it can achieve a greater effect if a society's follies are held to ridicule. The greater purpose is constructive criticism. However, the Charia Hebdo number did everything to scorn the Arab Spring abroad and nothing to contest French clichés and institutional racism against Muslims.

The issue was not thought-provoking; it simply contributed to burgeoning anti-Muslim sentiment. What it should have been doing was pushing the conversation forward to confront the seemingly dormant but rampant institutional bigotry. After all, is that not the point of having a free press tradition in the first place?

An extremely angry editor, Stéphane Charbonnier (Charb), said that
"The arsonist didn't read this magazine -- no one knows what's in this magazine except for the ones who will buy it this morning.  People acted violently over a magazine where they don't even know the content. This is what is most deviant and dumb."
But Muslims who commit these kinds of violent acts don't think before reacting. They just lash out because it's the only thing they know, and people are intimidated enough to give them reason to continue acting out. Granted, many in the Muslim community have condemned the violence, but there's something fundamentally wrong when your adherents find no other recourse but to resort to threats and violent pursuits.

Back in 2006 Jacques Chirac was highly critical of  Charlie Hebdo for the Mo-Toons publication, which he claimed was  "overt provocation" adding,

"Anything that can hurt the convictions of someone else, in particular religious convictions, should be avoided."

The current government, however, values freedom of speech and fully supports the magazine. Interior Minister Claude Gueant said

"The freedom of the press is a sacred freedom for French people. Everything will be done to find the perpetrators of this attack."

The  mayor of Paris said it best,

"We may not agree with this week's edition of Charlie Hebdo, but we are in a society that needs freedom of expression, and any violence that undermines this freedom... is absolutely unacceptable."

If we continue to allow violence or the threat of violence to dictate how we conduct our lives, we might as well lock ourselves up and throw away the key.

Ennahda- Tunisia's Moderate Islamist Party's Anti-Israel Stance

I think most will agree that unless they are secular,  there is no such thing as a moderate Muslim, particularly when they don't reside in the West.

Tunisia's self-proclaimed moderate Islamist party, Ennahda, for all its attempts to identify itself with being moderate, is not quite what it seems to be, and the Committee For Accuracy In Middle East Reporting (CAMERA) has written an interesting article exploring that issue.

Ennahda's leader Rachid Ghannouchi who is considered a "reform-minded Islamist" is actually "rabidly anti-Israel" which CAMERA finds troubling. Also,

Noted Middle East historian Martin Kramer differs in his view of Ghannouchi from The Times, The Post or the BBC. Kramer posted on his facebook page translations of comments reportedly made by Ghannouchi in May 2011:

I bring glad tidings that the Arab region will get rid of the germ of Israel. Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, leader of the Hamas movement, once said that Israel would disappear before 2027. That date may be too far off; Israel may disappear before that.

Iran: Christians Not Allowed

Imagine this happening in any Western country:

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, intelligent agents raided the houses of two Christians in Shahriar, Karaj, and arrested one and summoned the other individual.

According to a report by Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), on October 17, 2011, intelligent agents raided a citizen’s house in Shahriar but were unable to detain him since he was not home. This individual has been identified as “Mohammad N.” Security agents searched the house and confiscated a computer, books and CDs containing religious teachings and summoned Mohammad N. to the Intelligent Agency.

Similarly, on October 18, 2011, intelligent agents raided Fariborz A.’s house in Shahriar and arrested him. Fariborz A. is a newly converted Christian. During this raid, security agents searched the house and seized his personal property.

Complaint Filed Against Catholic University Alleges Violation Of Muslim Students' Rights

The latest asinine, Muslim-instigated frivolous law suit (and no, not initiated by CAIR  believe it or not) is a complaint (60 pages no less) leveled against Washington DC based Catholic University of America.  George Washington University law professor John Banzhaf (who apparently has nothing better to do), has filed a complaint with the Office of  Human Rights in Washington DC alleging that Muslim students' human rights are being violated because the poor things have to pray in a room with Jesus Christ looking down on them and

“... surrounded by symbols of Catholicism – e.g., a wooden crucifix, paintings of Jesus, pictures of priests and theologians which many Muslim students find inappropriate.”

Well, duh, what part of Catholic don't they understand?  Private Catholic Universities will, obviously, promote Catholicism and if some of the Muslims (or others for that matter) are offended by it as Banzhaf claims they are, then they need to find another college to attend.  Preferably a public, non-religious affiliated school. Or if they prefer a Muslim education and like-minded students, then there are lots of them in the Middle East.

Human rights being violated? Please!

Banzhaf told Fox News that

“It shouldn’t be too difficult somewhere on the campus for the university to set aside a small room where Muslims can pray without having to stare up and be looked down upon by a cross of Jesus."

Why should they care who or what is looking down upon them?  If you are a faithful believer of any religion you should be able to pray anywhere, heck Muslims pray out on the streets of Paris in droves, and who knows who or what is looking down upon them there.

And no-one else seems to have any complaints.  Victor Nakas, from the public affairs office of the University said

“Our faithfulness to our Catholic tradition has also made us a welcome home to students of other religions. No students have registered complaints about the exercise of their religions on our campus.”

That's because most other religions are not demanding, as Islam has increasingly become. And it's not that the Muslim students are being prevented from praying. A university spokesman told NPR in an interview in 2010 that

“We make classrooms available, or our chapels are places where they can pray. We don’t offer Halal meat, although there are always meals that conform to Halal regulations, that allow students to do what they want.”

No Muslim University would make any concessions for students of other religions- if they are even allowed to attend.

The Office of Human Rights has said the investigation could take up to 6 months to complete. What a waste of energy.

Muslims Target Dogs In Spain

Dogs, what Westerners consider to be 'man's best friend', are anathema to Muslims. They believe them to be 'unclean'.   We've all read the stories about cab drivers in Western countries refusing to pick up blind people with 'seeing-eye' dogs.  But in Spain,  their hatred of dogs is resulting in puppycide- poor pups are actually being exterminated.

In the city of  Lérida, (north eastern Catalonia) with a Muslim immigrant population of 20 percent, dogs have been turning up poisoned (at least a dozen in September), and one can only assume who the culprits are. Local non-Muslims claim they are being harassed while walking their dogs. And since the police have not done much to prevent harassment, the locals themselves have set up a 6-person escort system.

In July, two Islamic groups based in Lérida asked city officials to regulate the presence of dogs in public spaces so they do not "offend Muslims." Muslims are demanding that dogs be banned from all forms of public transportation including all city buses as well as from all areas frequented by Muslim immigrants.

Muslims in Lérida say the presence of dogs violates their religious freedom and their right to live according to Islamic principles.

Violates their rights?  What about the rights of the people who were living there first to own a dog!  But, that's the problem, at least according to Muslims.

Much of Spain was ruled by Muslim conquerors from 711 and 1492; Salafists believe that the territories the Muslims lost during the Spanish Reconquista still belong to them, and that they have a right to return and establish their rule there – a belief based on the Islamic precept that territories once occupied by Muslims must forever remain under Muslim domination.

Much of the troubles Catalonia is currently encountering, including- forced marriages, genital mutilation, implementation of Sharia law and other abominations-  is a direct result of their efforts to separate from Spain.

In an effort to promote the Catalan language, Catalonian pro-independence parties have traditionally favored immigration from non-Spanish-speaking countries, especially from Arabic-speaking Muslim countries, in the belief that these people would speak Catalan rather than Spanish.

Unfortunately, it hasn't worked, and now they are left with an ever burgeoning Muslim population that  not only refuses to assimilate, it wants control over the whole region.

Read the whole story here, it's pretty harrowing.

"My Tehran For Sale" Actress To Be Jailed And Lashed

What happens to an actress In Iran if the ruling mullahs and other religious conservatives dislike a film you were involved with: you get flogged and jailed, of course.

Marzieh Vafamehr, Iranian actress and wife of screenwriter and director Nasser Taghvai, was sentenced to a year in jail and 90 lashes for a film she starred in entitled "My Tehran For Sale".

An Iranian/Australian co-production, apparently it tells the story of a young woman, also named Marzieh, who lives in Tehran under the current regime. Also an actress (and mime), she is banned from her theatre work by Iranian officials, which forces her to live a double life in order to nurture her artistic needs.  The film explores just what that secret life means in urban Tehran, something that many Iranian youth are forced to do these days.

Life imitating art and vice versa.

However, one does have to remember that this is what the Iranians wanted back in the late 1970s

All I have to say is: Be careful what you wish for!!

Iranian Victim Of Child Abuse Dies After Being Force-Fed Crack Cocaine

The U.S. isn't the only country with drug problems or abusive parents.  In the Islamic republic of Iran, children are also being abused by drug addict parents, and dying at the hands of those same unfit parents. For all their holier-than-thou, uber religious attitudes they're just as screwed up as the rest of the world.

A repeatedly abused, unconscious  4-year-old Iranian boy, Mohammad Pooya, died at a Tehran hospital on July 20, 2011 after being forced to use crack cocaine by his father.  Why?  Because papa needed to 'calm' his boy so he could smoke some crack with his buddies.

And it seems hospitals and authorities over there are as inept as they are here.  Apparently, the child was taken to the same hospital back in March and sent home with his parents (court mandated), even after hospital officials were told the boy had used crack.
The parents have been arrested this time around, after the mother confessed her hubby was a drug addict, and was at fault.  This child should never have been returned to his parents.

Egyptian Tycoon Receives Boycotts, Lawsuits & Threats Of Severed Tongue For Posting Mickey and Minnie Mouse in Islamic Garb

Disney's Mickey Mouse has taken center stage, yet again, in the Middle East.  But this time, rather than being a tool for teaching terrorism to kids- remember Farfour the Palestinian Mouse-  he and his gal pal Minnie created a firestorm of protest against Egyptian Telecom and media tycoon-cum-politician, Naguib Sawiris.  Sawiris has had lawsuits and boycotts launched against him for posting a cartoon of Mickey with an Islamic beard and a niqab-clad Minnie from his Twitter feed. Apparently, the cartoon had already made the rounds in an email that featured the mouse couple and the quote: "this is the future of Egypt"- which is more than likely where the country is headed, given the overreaction to the post.  It probably doesn't help that after the fall of Mubarak, Sawiris formed a political party- Free Egyptians-  determined to create a secular Egypt and is a Christian Copt, to boot. As an 'infidel', he justifiably (in the minds of the Salafis who are at the bottom of all the protests) deserves all the obligatory death threats etc. that are being leveled at him, in spite of having apologized on Twitter:

"I apologise for any who don't take this as a joke, I just thought it was a funny picture no disrespect meant! Assef!! ". [sorry]

According to various news sources, Facebook pages materialized calling for a boycott of  Sawiris' cell phone company, with one group accruing over  60,000 followers.  Although I was unable to track it down, the "We are  joking Sawiris" group supposedly had the following posted on its page:

"If you are really a Muslim, and you love your religion, boycott his projects. We have to cut out the tongue of any person who attacks our religion."
It's quite obvious conservative Muslims lack a sense of humour. Time and again they demonstrate a serious inability to find the grace and humour in life, which is perhaps why they so often resort to violence. If they lightened up a bit, life would be  much more pleasant- and peaceful-  for the rest of the world. But no, they  consistently choose to be offended by even the most innocuous of things. Like a veiled Minnie and bearded Mickey.

The Devil Made Him Do It- Claims Saudi Serial Rapist

Apparently Saudi Arabia, the throne of Islamic fundamentalism (Wahhabism) and home to the holiest of holy sites in Islam (Mecca) has serial rapists. Apparently a man who happens to work at a school (and what better place to find your victims) systematically raped 17 young girls including a 13-year-old. Not that her age would make it any more heinous a crime, considering they marry them off younger than that over there. But rather than own up to his pedophilic perversion, he blamed it on the devil. Yes, I guess Westerners aren't the only ones to cop to the whole "the devil made me do it' plea.

According to Anbakuk newspaper

The unnamed man, a school employee, had used his religious treatment and dream interpretation skills to seduce the girls to his house, where he “had sex with them and tore their virginity."

The poor 13-year-old apparently begged the deviant to “heal her virginity.” And he didn't just target Arab women, he also had a penchant for Indonesians, as well.

“Police also found texts and phone numbers of many other women in his mobile phone…the victims included Arab and Indonesian girls.”

His excuse:

“The man told the court in Riyadh that he had been seduced and commanded by the devil to commit such acts…the court will soon sentence him.”

I guess there are perverts in Islam too.

A New Year- Reflections On The Islamist Violence In 2010 And What The New Year Might Bring

I always have hope that with the ringing in of a New Year things might change - hopefully for the better. I know it's just another day, but for some reason the fact that we start back at January 1st, once again, signals a kind of shift- a renewed energy and excitement about the many possibilities a new year might bring.

2010 was not so great both on a personal and global level, with all the natural disasters and economic woes. But what concerns me more than my petty challenges in life are the worsening global conditions, specifically the ever increasing, never-ending violence around the world, mostly in the name of one specific religion. And sadly, I don't think a new year is likely to change the course of those events. The ranks of those hell bent on establishing a third caliphate are increasing exponentially. We saw evidence of this in all the incredible violence across the planet in 2010- all the thwarted terrorist attempts, and actual acts of terrorism. Yes, there was some violence perpetrated by lunatic anarchists, but the bulk of the death and destruction last year was in the name of Allah.

And while Muslims in the West increased their demands for special treatment and other ( sometimes major) concessions through threats and lawsuits, and attempted to muzzle criticism of their religion through howls of racism, xenophobia and Islamophobia (successfully at times), non-Muslims in Muslim-majority countries experienced an increase in violence and intolerance. Christians (and other minority religions) continued to be killed and persecuted in most if not all of those countries. And to cap that intolerant mind-set, on Friday, December 31st Pakistan came to a standstill when a mass strike by Pakistanis (instigated by Sunni Muslim clerics) occurred in response to reports that the government was considering doing away with the Blasphemy Laws. Those oh-so humane laws which can arbitrarily condemn a man or woman to death for insulting Islam or Mohammad, and on mere hear-say, mind you. I suppose it was a fitting end to the year.

And my pollyanna-ish hopes that things might change this coming year came to a crashing halt when I read today, the first day of 2011, that a suicide bomber blew up a Coptic Christian Church in Egypt. At least 21 were killed.

No, nothing is going to change until Islam joins us in the 21st century.

Muslim Family In Spain Denounces Teacher For Offending Son- Or, Talking About Ham Is A No-No

For various reasons, there are many of us who choose not to eat pig, in its many different culinary manifestations. I'm a vegetarian, so any form of animal flesh is out- besides, after seeing the film "Babe", who could ever eat bacon again? Others stay away from ham and pork for health reasons- you can still get trichinosis from eating undercooked pork, and who wants to share their intestines with a bunch of nasty worms. Still others stay away from piggy products because of religious dietary laws. Judaism and Islam forbid eating pork, and it's even a no-no for the Seventh-day Adventists, although there are some who don't abide by those particular laws. But even though I choose to 'just say no' to eating pork products (along with some Jews and Seventh-day Adventists, we have no problems if someone else eats them, and we certainly are not offended by the mere mention or a picture of a piglet. Some Muslims, on the other hand, consider it almost a capital offense to even talk about the "P" word, and people around the world are suffering the consequences of that aversion.

Ask a high school teacher at the Menéndez Tolosa institute in Spain who was reported to the National Police by the family of a student of his, for having offended the boy. His major crime? Mentioning 'ham', which the Spaniards happen to love.

According to Spanish language El Diario de Cádiz , a professor was teaching a class in geography and talking about the different climates on our planet. As an example of a cold, dry climate he mentioned Trevélez, which happens to be a major ham-producing village in Granada, Spain. Apparently, that kind of climate is perfect for curing ham and the professor used that fact as an anecdote. Now, the professor wasn't forcing the students to eat, or touch said 'cured ham', he simply mentioned the fact that the weather there was ideal. Well, the mere mention of the "H" word ticked the student off, and he told the teacher to stop talking about ham because it offended him as a Muslim. The teacher responded, and rightfully so, that it was simply an example and that he did not take into account the religion of his students. And rather than broach the subject with the teacher first, the family raced off to the police to file a complaint- the teacher is now accused of labour abuse, with a little racism and xenophobia for added effect.

Students and teachers alike are furious considering he is a well-liked professor with a stellar record, who has dedicated well over 20 years to teaching. The National Police is keeping the investigation open pending the outcome in court.

Now, I know not all Muslims would go so far as to file a criminal complaint against someone for mentioning pork, ham bacon or any other pig-related word, but good grief, the fact that even a few do happen to file frivolous complaints is a few too many. This should not be happening in the Western world. We should not have to censor ourselves for fear that we might offend someone, or worse yet, that we might get sued for said offenses.

I think the good professor should file a counter-complaint (on behalf of the poor maligned pig) against the student and his family for porkophobia. This insanity has got to stop!

'Tis The Season- Hamas TV Calls For Allah To Eliminate Jews, Christians and Communists

It's not just Jews and Christians that the Palestinians want dead, apparently they're not too fond of Communists either, so they'd like Allah to smite down the lefties, too.

In the video below, from Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), Hamas' official Al-Aqsa TV broadcast an 'Allah please kill all our enemies' video on December 3, 2010, just in time for our holiday season.
"Allah, oh our Lord, vanquish Your enemies, enemies of the religion
[Islam] in all places.
Allah, strike the Jews and their sympathizers,
the Christians and their supporters,
the Communists and their adherents.
Allah, count them and kill them to the last one, and don't leave even one."
Of course, it isn't the first time they've called for death to infidels. Back in January, 2010 there was this particular video calling on Palestinians to kill all Jews, only this time it was on Fatah's PATV station, not Hamas' Al-Aqsa, and rather than calling on Allah to do the dirty deed, they call on the people themselves.

Ho ho ho, and a Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas.

9/11 2010 -Lest We Forget

There are some things in history that should never be forgotten. What happened on 9.11.2001 is one of those occurrences that should remain indelibly etched in our memories, lest we forget. However, there are many who already seem to have forgotten what happened that horrifying morning, when radical Islamists changed our world forever. They don't seem to realize that when we forget, we become less vigilant, and that's when our enemies take advantage of us. Those with evil intent will capitalize on our inherent goodness, and the supreme stupidity that comes with thinking that everyone should be trusted. They know that when we become polarized as a country, we become weakened, and that's when they will strike. Not necessarily in the form of a terrorist attack, but through dividing and conquering us as a people. They will start by separating us through issues that we all hold near and dear. Like freedom of speech, and freedom of religion.

The whole debate surrounding the proposed mosque near Ground Zero (conveniently changed from the Cordoba Initiative to Park51), demonstrates just how this tactic can work. I have been debating many of my colleagues and friends on Facebook, who in their admirable yet naive efforts to think the best of people, fail to realize that evil does exist in this world. They refuse to see that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, and his so-called attempts to heal the rifts created post 9/11 between Muslims and other religions. In spite of the fact that most of the over 70% of Americans opposed to the mosque being built near Ground Zero have no problems with it being built elsewhere, my friends insist that it should be allowed to be built as planned, and vilify those of us who disagree. We are called Islamophobes, racists, bigots, xenophobes, and no matter what you say, or what arguments you present them, or what articles you forward to them, they are incapable or unwilling to see the truth.

They couldn't care less that Rauf promotes Shariah law and, in fact, has written a book about it.

They couldn't care less that Rauf essentially blamed the U.S. for the 9/11 attacks by claiming we were an accessory to the crime.

They couldn't care less that the financing behind the project is questionable.

They couldn't care less that it was initially called "The Cordoba Initiative", and that the multi-faith prayer room was only included after people balked about both these issues.

They couldn't care less that even Muslims have criticized the decision to build a mosque in that particular space. Here, here and here.

With Islam the fastest growing religion in the world, and the surging trend towards fundamentalism, our freedoms are slowly being eroded in the West. Freedom of religion (which I will defend to my death) is not reciprocated in Muslim majority countries, and yet is demanded of Western nations. In fact, Muslim minority sects ( the Ahmadis and Ismailis, about the only ones you can truly consider moderates) are as persecuted as non-Muslims in Pakistan and elsewhere. Forget freedom of speech. It doesn't exist over there, so they are trying to take it away from us in the West. Muslim organizations worldwide are trying to turn criticism of Islam into a 'hate crime'. Bloggers in Canada have been sued for being critical of the religion, and one Austrian woman has been charged with a hate crime , as has Dutch politician Geert Wilders, who is still awaiting the verdict.

In our over zealous attempts to accommodate everyone, to be the good hosts not wanting to offend, we are losing the battle to what is coined as 'creeping shariah'. I realize there are Muslims in this country willing to adapt, and who love freedom as much as we do, they are the ones opposing Park51; but there are just as many who don't, and who want to turn this into a Shariah compliant nation. Shariah has no place in a modern, democratic, free society, and my good-hearted but very foolish friends can't seem to see that we're headed in that direction.

How can people not see what Islam turns into when faced with criticism, most notably the violence that ensues. I do not condone the burning of Qu'rans, as the Gainesville publicity-whore Pastor Jones had planned on doing (and still might do), in spite of the fact that Bibles have been burned by Muslims in the past. But the monumental global overreaction to this lunatic Pastor of no more than 50 congregants is beyond the pale. And as we all know, this isn't the first time there has been a major, violent reaction to something Muslims take offense to, and it seems that they take offense to pretty much everything these days.

I refuse to tiptoe around anyone, and will continue to criticize anything I feel is worthy of criticism. If we give in, they win. Though it seems they've already won, since all they have to do now is threaten violence and we back down. In fact, Rauf's interview on CNN's "Larry King Live" with Soledad O'Brien says as much, insinuating that if the mosque is not built in the planned location, it will inflame the radical Muslim world. It's obvious that most Muslim clerics exacerbate the problem by either fueling the flames or saying nothing at all; and those that do bother to condemn the violence and extremism are in danger themselves of retaliation.

It might just take another terrorist attack on our soil to open our sleeping eyes and say enough is enough. I just hope we pull our heads out of the proverbial sand before it's too late.

Shariah Law - A Video Poem By Ex-Muslimah Nessrrinn

Shariah law, which is part and parcel of Islam and what many Muslims want for the whole world including the West, is an abomination, at best. It should never be allowed to coexist with civil/secular law in a western, democratic society. The barbaric punishments from amputations to executions by stoning, the prehistoric views about women belong back in the dark ages, not in a civilized, enlightened modern world. It has no place in the 21st century.

Unfortunately, we have no say with respect to the use of Shariah law in Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East and places like Malaysia and Indonesia, but we do have a say as to whether it should be allowed in the West. It's up to us to make sure that it never takes root despite groups that actively seek to establish it in our lands. People need to be educated about what Shariah law actually entails, though most haven't a clue, hence their ignorance.

There are many fighting against creeping Shariah, infidels who happen to be non-Muslim, but there are also ex-Muslims who are fighting the good fight, and who better to enlighten us than Muslim apostates. Nessrrinn, an ex-Muslimah, waxes poetic on the abject cruelty of Islamic Shariah Law.

SHARIAH LAW

she's buried chest high
her arms can't stop the stones that fly
or wipe the tears that have already dried
for a crime she so persistently denied
she's buried chest deep
the moderates asleep
no matter how hard she weeps
worth half of a man, her testimony's cheap
Allah subhana wa ta3ala has come up with such a fair rule
dictators of history couldn't be so cruel
told by mohammed sallahu 3alhe wa salam
teaching us allah's divine referendum
what becomes of those who have a sip of rum
drinks to forget or wants to be numb
or those who play the game of chance
poker buddies escaping the religious trance
allah's prescribed in his merciful script
their flesh be ripped their blood be dripped
at the tip of a muslims whip
she's buried chest high
her arms can't stop the stones that fly
or wipe the tears that have already dried
for a crime she so persistently denied
and this is allah's eternal reply
1400 years of backwards law
a tragic flaw of the primitive claw
the tribe of homosexuals
koum lot as they say
sharia is clear on how they should pay
the price for their gay display
life doesn't matter which way
abu baker got them with a tumbling wall
ali muhammad's cousin and son in law
had people burned for their sexual call
an entire village children and all
she's buried chest deep
the moderates asleep
no matter how hard she weeps
worth half of a manher testimony's cheap
apostates remember those who have bled
to speak the word Muslims leave unsaid
killed for the sake of those mislead
submit now or be left dead
allah subhana wa ta3ala has come up with such a fair rule
the devil himself couldn't be so cruel
she's buried chest high half way deep
while the moderates are still fast asleep
while the world stands silent
her testimony's cheap.
stones thrown by religious sheep.
witches were burned long ago
til the flame of freedom began to glow
and we learned to say the word 'no'
no know that your laws are unjust
not worthy of respect only disgust
beheading those with a knifes thrust
oh but in Allah we blindly trust
she's buried head high
in a heap of stones.
no more crying no more moans
all that's left is skin and bones
Allah has come up with such a fair call
the true justice of sharia law
by nessrriinn.
