Happy Thanksgiving- 2016

Happy Thanksgiving to one and all.  As messed up as the world is, we still have much to be grateful for.  For the time being, anyway.

Top 10 Things Obama Is Thankful For- Happy Thanksgiving 2014

It's the day to give thanks.  I hope everyone has enjoyed a blessed Thanksgiving.

I know there are many Americans out there who hate this great country of ours, and yes we have many faults, but all I have to do is look at what's going around in other parts of the world, and I feel very blessed and grateful to be living here. At least for now.

Here's a funny from Political Insider: 10 things our current president Barack Obama (one of those who seems to loathe the United States) is thankful for.
Thanksgiving is a time for Americans to count our blessings. But it’s not just regular Americans who are thankful. Even the most powerful man in the Free World is thankful for the little things that get him through the day. Here are President Obama’s top 10 things he’s thankful for:
1.  Dancing With The Stars. Obama loves DWTS. He doesn’t actually watch the show, mind you. He’s just glad that millions of Americans are too busy watching to pay attention to his destruction of America.
2.  Taxpayers. We fund Obama’s gold-plated vacations all over the globe. According to our friends at Judicial Watch, the Obama’s have spent at least $44 million so far.
3.  The American media. These guys are Obama’s real bodyguards. They make sure only fawning praise is allowed on the airwaves and in print. Obama never has to defend himself or his policies; the Fourth Estate does it for him.
4.  Teleprompters. Without these neat little gizmos, Obama would have never earned his undeserved status as some sort of great orator.

The rest here.

Happy Thanksgivikkah- Video Parody "Oils" by Kate Steinberg

This year Hanukkah is being celebrated around the same time as Thanksgiving, so here's a fun video parody of Lorde's  song "Royals" celebrating the dual holiday of Thanksgivukkah called "Oils"... enjoy! Vocals by Kate Steinberg.

And have a blessed Thanksgiving and a very Happy Hanukkah!!

Lyrics from YouTube:

[Verse 1]
I always cooked a turkey in Novem[ber],
I lit my eight menorah candles in December.
But now my schedule's a mess Because Hanukkah's tied to Thanksgiving.

[Chorus]
Now everyone's like Pilgrims, Indians, readers of the torah
Puritans, Wampanoag, dancers of the hora
We don't care, we're celebrating Thanksgivukkah.

And now the menus like stuffing, cranberry, turkey leg or brisket,
Manischewitz, pumpkin pie, holidays are mixing.
We don't care, we'll throw our dreidels in the air.

And we'll always have oil (oil)
For frying our latkes.
It's just about a month early
To honor Judah Maccabee.

It should be in winter (winter)
No more leaves on the ground.
Members of the tribe, the tribe, the tribe, the tribe
All together getting down.

[Verse 2]
My friends and I would watch football
We'd wait for Charlie Brown to fly in front of Macy's.
Instead we're filling up our gourds, with chocolate coins
it's a horn of plenty.

[Verse 3]
Ooh ooh oh,
Thanksgiving plus Hanukkah
This is just meshugenah.
Ooh ooh oh,
Historically inaccurate
but we don't really give a sh*t.

[Chorus]
And we'll always have oil (oil)
For frying our latkes.
It's just about a month early
To honor Judah Maccabee.

It should be in winter (winter)
No more leaves on the ground.
Members of the tribe, the tribe, the tribe, the tribe
All together getting down.

Thanksgiving 2012

It's that time of year- the time to give thanks for what we have, and to be ever so grateful for what we don't have. In spite of all our troubles, we still live in a democracy, for now. Some of our freedoms are being eroded and restricted by the intolerant, p.c. crowd, but at least we are still free, for now.

I am thankful that although I might not like who our leaders are, I can criticize them to my hearts content without the fear of being jailed or killed, for now.

I am thankful that every American has the opportunity to get an education, women in some countries are not so fortunate.

I am thankful that we can still worship freely in whatever faith we choose, or not at all.

I am thankful that we don't have to deal with daily rocket fire raining down on our heads from neighbours who want us dead, and who have no intention of sticking to a cease-fire.

I am thankful, as a woman, to be living in a land where I am not forced to stay at home or cover myself up in order to head outdoors, and then only in the company of a male relative.

I am thankful and grateful for our military troops abroad and stateside.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!  Enjoy your turkey, ham or your Tofurkey if you happen to be a veggie.

Happy Thanksgiving 2011

Wishing everyone a blessed and Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy your family, friends and the yummy food, but remember to take stock of all the things to be thankful for.  And remember to save a special thanks for all our military who are far away and unable to spend it with their loved ones.

God Bless you all and God speed!
