Happy 2017- The End of the Obama Era Arrives

It's been a rough year for many. In fact, it's been a rough 8 years, and I'm absolutely delighted that this will be the last New Year's eve with Barack Obama as our president.  Even though his campaign mantra was hope and change, he brought no hope, and the change he created has been abysmal. During his two-term reign, race relations have plummeted to an all-time low. He managed to divide this country on every level possible, and it's going to take a long while to recover. In all my many years, I have never experienced anything like it.

All the things people complain about Donald Trump, Obama also has in spades.  He's arrogant, mean-spirited at times, a mega narcissist (hello, Mr soon-to-be-ex President, there is no way in heck that you would have won against Trump), and yet liberals still love him. They still think he's one of the best presidents we have ever had, though I believe he will go down in history as one of the worst.Actually, he'll have to duke that title out with Jimmy Carter,

Aside from the very sad state of race relations in this country, he brought us the Affordable Care Act, which is far from affordable. Obamacare been a disaster for all but a few fortunate ones. The rest of us have suffered with skyrocketing premiums, huge deductibles, and loss of our preferred doctors. Remember he promised we would not lose them? Well, many did. Remember he said you could keep your plan. Many people lost their plans. Even many of my liberal friends are complaining

And he's doing his damnedest to cause havoc before Trump takes control. He threw our only democratic ally in the Middle East- Israel-  under the bus by abstaining on the U.N. vote condemning Israeli settlements. No-one, including Obama and Kerry, seems to realize that peace between Israel and Palestine will only happen when Palestine chooses to accept Israel's right to exist. That's not going to happen any time soon.

Then there's Russia.  What's that all about?  Yes, I'm sure Russia has been spying, just as we and probably every other nation in the world has, but blaming Trump's win on Russian hacking is ludicrous. Unless Obama has proof that Russia hacked the actual ballots during the election, starting another potential cold war over the fact that Trump beat Hillary Clinton is downright evil.  Especially since it was Hillary's fault she lost.  The presidency was hers for the taking, and she lost. So Obama sanctions Russia, and yet lifts sanctions on Iran, in spite of the fact that they still consider us the Great Satan, are steps away from nuclear weapons (whether he believes it or not), detained and humiliated 10 of our sailors.

He also plans on releasing more Guantanamo detainees before he leaves office, even though the rate of recidivism is as high as 30%.

I tried to like him, I really did, and I prayed he would prove me wrong, but I can't think of anything positive, other than Osama Bin Laden was caught during his presidency.

So, I look forward to a Trump presidency, though it won't be easy for him.  I pray he listens to those who know better, and that he can make America great again.

It's the day to give thanks.  I hope everyone has enjoyed a blessed Thanksgiving.

I know there are many Americans out there who hate this great country of ours, and yes we have many faults, but all I have to do is look at what's going around in other parts of the world, and I feel very blessed and grateful to be living here. At least for now.

3.  The American media. These guys are Obama’s real bodyguards. They make sure only fawning praise is allowed on the airwaves and in print. Obama never has to defend himself or his policies; the Fourth Estate does it for him.

4.  Teleprompters. Without these neat little gizmos, Obama would have never earned his undeserved status as some sort of great orator.

Honoring Our Brave- Veteran's Day 2013

On this day, I thank not only our Veteran's but those that are serving today. Because of our military we enjoy many freedoms that others do not. We should not take that for granted, nor should we abandon our Vets when they return home, some broken physically and mentally. We need to reach out to them in whatever way we can. Get involved with Veteran's groups, or organizations trying to help. They need us, especially during these trying economic times. And your help doesn't need to be monetary, go visit a soldier at a hospital, help pack a care package for deployed troops. It doesn't take much.

From my heart, I send prayers and thanks to all our soldiers!

Let Freedom Ring- Happy 4th of July 2013

It's the 4th of July, the day we Americans celebrate freedom with fireworks and barbecues. All hail, the red, white and blue. But there are many people who don't actually know why we celebrate the 4th. At least those Mark Dice interviewed in California.  They had no clue when or who we declared our independence from.

On July 4, 1776 we declared our independence from England.

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America,

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Memorial Day 2013- Video of Hungarian Shadow Dance Group "Attraction"

I wanted to share this video with you in honor of those who have fought and died to maintain our freedom, and to secure freedom for countries that do not even appreciate their sacrifice.

This Hungarian shadow dance group "Attraction" is currently competing on Britain's Got Talent this year. Yes, I know, but the group performed what I see as a very touching tribute to our greatest heroes. It was their initial audition piece.

Very few dry eyes in the audience, and they received unanimous votes to move on to the next level. They are current faves.



Take a moment while you're out there celebrating a day off with your hot dogs and beer to think about the true meaning of Memorial day and honor our fallen soldiers, and those of our allies.

"Valentine, Infidel Culture" - Some Muslim Killjoys Claim

The 'day of love' is celebrated around the world on February 14th, not for its Christian religious roots, but because it's a great way to let those you love- family, friends, husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends- know how much you appreciate them. People traditionally exchange Valentine cards, flowers, chocolate, with the predominant color being red. But not in Saudi Arabia, where the ever- present, ever ready to rain on any parade religious police are on the look out for anything of that color, or anything else for that matter, that could potentially be given as a gift. Apparently they're okay at any other time of the year, not just around February 14th.

Why?

Because Valentine's Day is banned in Saudi Arabia.

Why?

Because it is viewed as a Christian religious holiday, and as we all know the oh-so tolerant Saudi Kingdom doesn't allow anyone to publicly celebrate any religious holiday other than Islamic ones. The bizarre thing is no-one, anywhere, attributes any religious connotation to the holiday, these days. I actually forgot it was also called Saint Valentine's Day because it's a term that is rarely used, opting for the more secular term Valentine's Day. Although it's probably consumerism at its worst, it's a relatively harmless holiday, and certainly not religious.

But it's not just the Saudis that ban V Day. While most of the world enjoys participating in a pretty innocuous celebration of love, the usual kill joys have, as expected, popped up in places like Pakistan, where some believe it's un-Islamic. Right, because Mohammed told his followers not to send someone some roses and chocolates to demonstrate their undying love for that person.

During the week, Some Pakistanis celebrated Valentine’s Day with balloons and flowers, but others denounced the holiday as an insult to Islam.

In the port city of Karachi, home to 18 million people, billboards decorated with a black heart urged citizens to “SAY NO TO VALENTINE'S DAY,” Reuters reported.

“This tradition reflects insensitivity, indignity and ignorance of Islam,” the signs read. They were put up by a group affiliated with Jamaat-e-Islami, a religious political party that holds six of 342 legislative seats told Reuters.

“Teenagers see it as a time to express love and affection and they often end up in sex parties, like in the West.”

According to Syed Askari, a spokesman for Jamaat-e-Islami, “Valentine’s is against Islamic culture. In our view, relationships are sacred. We have arranged marriages in this culture and people don’t get married for love.”

“This is imposing Western values and cultures on an Islamic society,” he added.

The spokesman derided the West, warning that Muslim countries shouldn’t turn like them.

“Look at the West - people love their dogs but throw their parents out when they get old. We don't want to be like that.”

And to show just how insulted they were, women in Peshawar burned Valentine's cards, because burning things is fun, and being hateful is far more appealing to them than embracing love.

Indonesian conservatives believe the same thing, that celebrating Valentine's Day leads to premarital sex and "sex parties". I don't ever recall sex parties after receiving V Day cards in my youth. But conservative Indonesians are convinced, so Valentine's Day was banned in the conservative regions.

The Head of the hardline Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) in Depok, Habib Idrus Al Gadhri, declared the day “haram” (forbidden) for Muslims, claiming it is part of the culture of “infidels.”

“It’s Western culture and immoral so it's ironic Muslims celebrate it,” he said.

That didn't stop hotels and businesses in Indonesia from participating in the festivities.

In Eastern Java, young girls decided to change February 14 to "headscarf day", and while carrying banners with “Valentine, Infidel Culture”, they handed out information on why both sexes should dress modestly.

In other places, including the more cultured and moderate Islamabad, business was booming.

“Valentine’s Day is good for business,” said grinning Mohammed Ajmar to Reuters as he handed a customer a huge heart made of red roses and glitter.

Even in Iran, where the holiday is banned because of its Western roots, people were celebrating, in spite of the threat of sanctions and shops being shut down for selling red roses.

It's an international day of love, which this world needs more of.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly- Christmas Around The Globe

Christmas is coming to a close in the U.S. In some regions of the world it has already come and gone, so I thought I'd give a little round up of Christmas happenings across the globe.

THE GOOD:

PAKISTAN: A small Christian community of about 200 in South Waziristan, Pakistan (smack dab in Taliban/al-Qaeda land), got to celebrate their Christmas at their little church inside the safety of an army base, where most congregants happen to live and work. They seem to live in harmony with their Muslim neighbours under the protection of the military.

AUSTRALIA:  Largest mosque in Australia backs down from its anti-Christmas fatwa.  Even wishing someone a "Merry Christmas" was to be considered a sin. Of course the backtracking was in response to outrage from both Muslims and non-Muslims alike.   (H/T TROP)


THE BAD:

INDONESIA: Moderate Indonesia's top clerics told Muslims it would be best not to wish anybody "Merry Christmas", because they weren't entirely sure if it was haram (forbidden) or halal (okay). Christmas parties? Definitely haram.  "Happy New Year", on the other hand, is fine.

and

200 or so conservative Muslims pelted about 100 or so Christians with rotten eggs as they were gathering to worship on a plot of land they hope to build a church. The government has barred them from doing so since 2009. (H/T TROP)

ISRAEL:  Businesses with Christmas trees faced losing their Kashrut (Kosher) certificates.

KUWAIT: Some radical conservative Muslims in Kuwait called for a ban on Christmas celebrations, but were blasted by liberal groups. Kuwait allows Christians to worship in the 12 or so churches there.

THE UGLY:

NIGERIA:  Six Christians, including the pastor, were killed in northern Nigeria as they celebrated midnight mass on Christmas eve. The church was then set on fire. (H/T TROP)

NIGERIA: At least six more killed in another church attack.

Santa Is A Democrat- According to PPP National Poll

Hope Santa brought you some goodies. And speaking of Santa, here's some Christmas silliness.

Public Policy Polling, out of Raleigh, NC,  wasted its time asking American voters their opinions on various holiday themed questions as they related to politics.

It seems 44% of the American people think Santa Claus is a Democrat. Is that surprising? No, since about 47% of U.S. citizens, per Mitt Romney, are into the free stuff. It would make sense, then, that since Santa is the purveyor of free gifts and so are the Democrats they would think of Saint Nick as a Democrat. Only 28% think of him as a Republican, and 28% haven't a clue, or just don't care.

People believe both Barack Obama and Mitt Romney will receive gifts from Santa this Christmas rather than that lump of coal, but it seems Romney will rake in more booty than Obama.

ROMNEY:
63% Gifts
37% Lump of coal

OBAMA:
51% Gifts
49% Lump of coal

Interesting to note that Obama's gifts to coal margin is approximately the same margin of votes with which he won the election.

47% believe there is a "war on Christmas", 40% don't agree, while 13% haven't a clue, or also just don't care.

54% are worried that the "fiscal cliff" will "force Santa to cut back on the benefits he provides", while 35% are not worried and 11% are not sure. The American people can rest assured, however, that the American government will continue to dole out its freebies, fiscal cliff or not.

And to determine the moral compass of the country we have the following bizarre questions:

If Grandma got run over by a reindeer, would
you press charges against Santa, or not?

24% would press charges, 61% would not, 15% were not sure.


If you saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus, would
you tell Daddy?

43% would tell Daddy, 40% would not, and 17% were not sure.

As for whether people believe in Santa Claus or not? 52% do, 45% don't, and 3% aren't sure.

And Santa came out tops, by a huge margin, over the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, Leprechauns and Cupid in terms of "Which character do you think could most plausibly exist"

Of the voters polled, 36% were Democrats, 36% Republican and 28% Independent. That is if the respondents were truthful about their political affiliation.

Politically Correct Santa



'Twas the night before Christmas and Santa's a wreck...
How to live in a world that's politically correct?
His workers no longer would answer to "Elves",
"Vertically Challenged" they were calling themselves.

And labor conditions at the north pole
Were alleged by the union to stifle the soul.
Four reindeer had vanished, without much propriety,
Released to the wilds by the Humane Society.

And equal employment had made it quite clear
That Santa had better not use just reindeer.
So Dancer and Donner, Comet and Cupid,
Were replaced with 4 pigs, and you know that looked stupid!

The runners had been removed from his sleigh;
The ruts were termed dangerous by the E.P.A.
And people had started to call for the cops
When they heard sled noises on their roof-tops.

Second-hand smoke from his pipe had his workers quite frightened.
His fur trimmed red suit was called "Unenlightened."
And to show you the strangeness of life's ebbs and flows,
Rudolf was suing over unauthorized use of his nose

And had gone on Geraldo, in front of the nation,
Demanding millions in over-due compensation.
So, half of the reindeer were gone; and his wife,
Who suddenly said she'd enough of this life,

Joined a self-help group, packed, and left in a whiz,
Demanding from now on her title was Ms.
And as for the gifts, why, he'd ne'er had a notion
That making a choice could cause so much commotion.

Nothing of leather, nothing of fur,
Which meant nothing for him. And nothing for her.
Nothing that might be construed to pollute.
Nothing to aim. Nothing to shoot.

Nothing that clamored or made lots of noise.
Nothing for just girls. Or just for the boys.
Nothing that claimed to be gender specific.
Nothing that's warlike or non-pacific.

No candy or sweets...they were bad for the tooth.
Nothing that seemed to embellish a truth.
And fairy tales, while not yet forbidden,
Were like Ken and Barbie, better off hidden.

For they raised the hackles of those psychological
Who claimed the only good gift was one ecological.
No baseball, no football...someone could get hurt;
Besides, playing sports exposed kids to dirt.

Dolls were said to be sexist, and should be passe;
And Nintendo would rot your entire brain away.
So Santa just stood there, disheveled, perplexed;
He just could not figure out what to do next.

He tried to be merry, tried to be gay,
But you've got to be careful with that word today.
His sack was quite empty, limp to the ground;
Nothing fully acceptable was to be found.

Something special was needed, a gift that he might
Give to all without angering the left or the right.
A gift that would satisfy, with no indecision,
Each group of people, every religion;

Every ethnicity, every hue,
Everyone, everywhere...even you.
So here is that gift, it's price beyond worth...
