Boko Haram Slaughter Dozens Of Their "Wives" Before Battle With Nigerian Troops

Prior to a battle with Nigerian troops in the town of Bama, Boko Haram savages murdered a bunch of women they had married by force, rather than have them remarry infidels.

Five witnesses who recounted the massacres to AFP said the Islamist militants feared they would be killed by advancing soldiers or separated from their wives when they fled the town.

They killed the women to prevent them from subsequently marrying soldiers or other so-called non-believers, they added. “The terrorists said they will not allow their wives to be married to infidels,” said Sharifatu Bakura, 39, a mother of three. According to Bakura’s account, which was supported by others, Boko Haram fighters received word of a military assault on Bama, formerly an Islamist stronghold in Borno state.

The insurgents had decided to flee to the nearby town of Gwoza before the troops’ arrival but first decided “to kill their wives so that nobody will remarry them”, she said. Bukara’s husband was killed by the insurgents four months ago but she was spared from a forced marriage because she was visibly pregnant. Boko Haram forcibly married scores of women in Bama after seizing it in September. Nigeria’s military announced the recapture of the town on Monday.

Witnesses, who were taken under military protection this week to Borno’s capital Maiduguri, 73 kms (45 miles) away, said the killing of women began 10 days before Bama was liberated. The Islamists said “if they kill their wives, they would remain pious until both of them meet again in heaven, where they would re-unite”, said Salma Mahmud, another witness.

A vigilante who fought alongside the military in the battle to retake Bama, Abba Kassim, said he saw “dozens of women corpses” in the town. While other witnesses reportedly a similarly high casualty figure the numbers were impossible to verify. Nigeria’s national security spokesman Mike Omeri told AFP he would try to verify the reports while the military could immediately be reached for comment.

So not only were these poor women forced to marry these animals, they were then murdered by these same men. Sickening.

Niger Kills 109 Boko Haram- Thousands To Go

Nigeria's version of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has been venturing out beyond its borders into neighbouring lands, but I'm delighted to see they are meeting some major resistance.

Niger forces, along with help from Chad's military, were able to off around 109 Boko Haram Islamists after they attacked the city of Bosso and Diffa. Unfortunately, 4 soldiers and a civilian were also killed. As a result, Niger will try to get approval from parliament to have soldiers join Chadian and Cameroon soldiers in Nigeria to help destroy Boko Haram. U.S. intellegence believes that could be a "game changer in a positive way."

Allah Told Boko Haram To Kill Thousands, Leader Claims In Video

In the beginning of January, while the world was focused on the Charlie Hebdo Paris massacre, an even more unimaginable Islamic terrorist massacre occurred in north eastern Nigeria. Boko Haram jihadi animals slaughtered up to 2,000 people, mostly women, children and the elderly, in a matter of a few days when they raided the town of Baga- population 10,000- and burned most of it to the ground.

Over the years, they've been  responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent people in their quest to establish an Islamic State in Nigeria. This is the same group that kidnapped 276 young girls from the Chibok Secondary School, launching the #BringOurGirlsBack hashtag. The same that murdered sleeping students in their beds.

Now the leader of the group, Abubakar Shekau, says he massacred all those people because God commanded him to. He shared that revelation in a YouTube video, and promised much more to come. The Baga massacre was just the beginning of worse to come.

”We are the ones who fought the people of Baga, and we have killed them with such a killing as he [God] commanded us in his book,” said Shekau, as Nigeria and its neighbors worked to deploy a regional force to confront the violent Islamist militia.

“This is just the beginning of the killings," he said. "What you've just witnessed is a tip of the iceberg. More deaths are coming.”

In the 35-minute video, Shekau also burned Nigeria’s flag and declared the country's constitution dead. "This will mark the end of politics and democracy in Nigeria," he said as gunmen fired automatic weapons into the air, yelling “God is great.”

Since Boko Haram has started venturing into neighbouring countries like Cameroon, there is fear among West African nations that the terror will spread. West African leaders have been mobilizing in an attempt to thwart Boko Haram. In fact, Baga was to be a joint regional military base for Nigeria, Chad, Niger and Cameroon, headquarters for 2,800 troops. This was to have commenced sometime in November, but when the Baga attack occurred in January, Niger's soldiers had already left, Chadian troops had not yet arrived, so Nigeria was left to fend for itself. That military base was overrun and Boko Haram had a field day with all the weaponry and ammunition they suddenly inherited.  Shekau said:

“Kings of Africa, you are late," he said. "I challenge you to attack me even now. I'm ready.”

Something must be done to stop these extremists from multiplying and spreading their evil across the globe.

Dad Gave 13-Year-Old Daughter To Boko Haram As Suicide Bomber

Nigeria's Boko Haram, is as abhorrent as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). ISIS might have taken center stage recently, but Boko Haram is still doing major evil.  They're using young girls as suicide bombers. In fact, one 13-year-old claims after her father handed her over to them, she was sent off to Kano (in the north) with a suicide bomb, which she refused to detonate. She was subsequently arrested. And she's not the only young female who has been used by the extremists to carry out suicide bomb attacks.

The girl told a news conference Wednesday night that she saw many people being buried alive at the Boko Haram camp where her father took her in Bauchi state, east of Kano.

She said her captors asked if she wanted to go to paradise and, when she said yes, explained she would have to be a suicide bomber.

"When I was told I would have to die to enter paradise, that I would have to explode a bomb and die, I said I cannot do it," she said.

When they threatened to kill her, she allowed them to strap her into a vest primed with explosives, saying "I was afraid to be buried alive."

Two other girls detonated their bombs at Kano's textile market on Dec. 10. Police said the attack killed four people and wounded seven, including the girl.

Police Superintendent Adenrele Shinaba said the girl was arrested in the hospital with a leg wound. A taxi driver took her to the hospital, and she said she left her suicide vest on the seat. The driver alerted police.

Shinaba said she will remain in custody while investigations continue. He said they had been unable to find her father, who the girl said belongs to Boko Haram

Boko Haram Massacres More Sleeping Students In Nigeria

I saw a headline on a Facebook page which I assumed was a link to an old article.  That often happens. But no, Nigeria's Boko Haram animals slaughtered 43 sleeping students around 2.a.m. at a secondary boarding school (Federal Government College) in the north eastern town of Buni Yadi.

The attackers reportedly hurled explosives into student residential buildings, sprayed gunfire into rooms and hacked a number of students to death.

A senior medical source at the Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital in Yobe's capital Damaturu said the gunmen only targeted male students and that female students were "spared".

July 2013 over 40 people were killed at another school, most of them children, some burned alive.

And last September more than 40 were gunned down while sleeping at an agriculture training school. At least a thousand have lost their lives since Boko Haram has ramped up its fight to establish an Islamic state in northern Nigeria.

In a video sent to AFP last week, Boko Haram's purported leader, Abubakar Shekau, said he would continue his relentless campaign of violence on anyone who supports democracy or so-called Western values.

President Goodluck Jonathan has said he is trying to get them to end the violence and to

 lay down their arms and engage in talks to address their grievances.

But it's quite obvious what they want - an extreme Islamic state - and they're certainly not going to end the violence until that happens. I'm not sure why these world leaders seem to think they can negotiate with extremists like the Taliban, Boko Haram or Al-Shabaab.

44 Muslims Gunned Down While Praying In Nigeria

Boko Haram Islamic extremists usually target Christians in Nigeria, but this time their targets were fellow Muslims. They allegedly killed 44 people at a mosque in Nigeria. They were praying at the time.

Suspected Islamic militants wearing army fatigues gunned down 44 people praying at a mosque in northeast Nigeria, while another 12 civilians died in an apparently simultaneous attack nearby, security agents said today. [snip]

It was not immediately clear why this particular mosque—located in Konduga town, some 22 miles outside Maiduguri, the capital of Nigeria's Borno state—was targeted, but Boko Haram has in the past attacked mosques whose clerics have spoken out against religious extremism. The group also has attacked Christians outside churches and teachers and schoolchildren, as well as government and military targets. The news came as journalists received a video featuring Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau, who gloats over recent attacks, threatens more, and even says his group is now strong enough to go after the United States.

Boko Haram Promises More School Attacks In Nigeria

Boko Haram murdered a bunch of innocent students and a few teachers at a boarding school in Nigeria at the beginning of July. Now Abubakar Shekau, the leader of the murderous Boko Haram Islamist group, has promised more school massacres because western education is a "plot against Islam".

In a video Shekau said:

"Teachers who teach western education? We will kill them! We will kill them in front of their students, and tell the students to henceforth study the Qur'an."

Shekau denied that his fighters killed children. "Our religion does not permit us to touch small children and women, we don't kill children," he said, reading from sheets of paper as he cradled a Kalashnikov. He also dismissed talk of a ceasefire. Last week the government said it had signed a deal with Shekau's second-in-command.

They don't kill children and women? They didn't kill those children in the dorm?  Right. I guess it was the Holy Ghost.

Such ignorance.

Islamic Militants Massacre Nigerian Students At Boarding School- Many Dead

More heartbreak from Nigeria: schoolchildren massacred, not by a lone madman but by barbaric animals, in the name of their Allah, who have no regard for the sanctity of human life.

The information is just coming out so the numbers vary, but what is known is that a group of Boko Haram Islamic terrorists, in an early morning attack at a boarding school in Mamudo Village in northeast Nigeria, shot and killed from 30 to 42 people.  Most of the dead are schoolchildren, some of whom were burned alive.

"We were sleeping when we heard gunshots. When I woke up, someone was pointing a gun at me," said 15-year-old Musa Hassan.

He put his arm up in defense, and suffered a gunshot that blew off all four fingers on his right hand, the one he uses to write with.

He said the gunmen came armed with jerry cans of fuel that they used to torch the school's administrative block and one of the hostels.

"They burned the children alive," he said, the horror showing in his wide eyes.

Police are still searching for dozens of kids who managed to escape into the surrounding bush.

Some parents have vowed to remove their children from school. Farmer Malam Abdullahi who lost two of his boys, 10 and 12, said:

"That's it, I'm taking my other boys out of school. It's not safe. The gunmen are attacking schools and there is no protection for students despite all the soldiers."

He has three other kids at another school. His 10-year-old had been shot in the back.

Some think the attack was in retaliation for the recent killing of 22 Boko Haram militants by the Nigerian military, but since Boko Haram means "western education is evil" it would seem that killing school children is in line with part of their mission. And if parents start withdrawing their kids fearing for their lives, then Boko Haram has done its job.

Prophet Mohammed's Name Found On Bull's Forehead In NIgeria-

The latest religious phenomenon is taking place in Nigeria. We heard about people flocking to see the Virgin Mary in a tree trunk in New York last year, but this year it's not Christian-themed, and it's not an inanimate object, it's a bull in Nguru, Yobe State, Nigeria. Yes, a big black bull.  Apparently Muslims are claiming they see their Prophet's name "written boldly with white hair" on the bulls forehead, and believe it's a message from God. According to Sheik Hud Mohammed Yusuf- the head Imam of the Yobe Central Mosque:

"..... God has promised to show his existence, supremacy and truthfulness of Islam as the only religion of truth.

"So, people should not consider this as something different, and they should be firm in their faith because the bull is not different from other cattle we use to have in our homes and ranches," he said.

He also warned people against attaching any spiritual importance to the cow which is capable of affecting their faith in God. "Ours is to be more firm in our faith and use this as a source of Da'awa," he said.

Sheikh Yusuf added that "It is telling that the name of the Prophet appeared in white even though the cow is completely black skinned. More so, it was written on the face. This is enough for us to appreciate and preach that Islam is the religion of God," he said.

The bull is now in a local zoo after State government officials had to force the owner, Alhaji Bala, to sell it. For a hefty sum, that is. The owner apparently purchased it at a market for N25,000 and sold it for N200,000, but only after the Emir of Nguru intervened. 

Yobe State Commissioner for Religious Affairs Alhaji Auwal Goyo Kura said it was necessary for government to keep the cow under its custody to prevent people from attaching unnecessary beliefs to the cow.

"Government will keep it in the zoo to be used for Da'awa (preaching), as well as tourist attraction," the commissioner said.

I wonder if they realize the symbolism of the Prophet's name being written on a bull. Perhaps they are unaware of the slang definition of the word. I'm not sure I'd want that association- Islam = Bull.

Nigerian Terror Cell Group Trained By Iranians Were To Target Israelis and Americans

Nigeria busted a terror cell group at the end of December that was allegedly set up and trained by Iranian agents to target high-profile Nigerians in addition to Israeli and American interests in that country.

The head of the cell, 50-year-old Nigerian Abdullahi Mustapha Berende, apparently has a masters degree from the University of Ilorin, but had also studied Shi'a Islam at the Imam Khomeini University  in Iran for 6 months in 2006. According to the spokesperson for the Nigerian State Security Service (SSS) Marilyn Ogar, Berende was also trained in weapons use by the Iranians.  Berende, who claims he now 'regrets his actions', recruited three others: Sulaiman Olayinka Saka, Saheed Aderemi Adewumi, both in custody, and Bunyamin Yusuf who is nowhere to be found.

Per The Times of Nigeria:

Ogar said that Berende, the local leader of the Shiite Sect in Ilorin, had been on the SSS radar for six months before he was eventually arrested through sustained covert operations by SSS operators on 17 December, 2012.

She further disclosed that Berende was also tasked by his Iranian handlers to provide names of prominent Nigerians who if attacked could unsettle the West.

Consequently, the SSS spokesperson said the suspect gave the names of former President Ibrahim Babangida and former Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki respectively as targets of attack.

Berende also confessed to have made several suspicious trips to and from Iran where he interacted with some Iranian elements, known to operate a high-profile international terrorist network.

Ogar noted that 'on his return to Nigeria, Berende was invited by his handlers to Dubai for further briefing in April, 2012.

He confessed that his Iranian sponsors requested that he identifies and gathers intelligence on public places and prominent hotels frequented by Americans and Israelis to facilitate attacks.

He was also to provide specific details of targets including organizations like USAID, Max, Zim International Shipping Company, AA Consulting, Peace Corps and the Jewish Cultural centre [Chabad] in Lagos.

Ogar said:

“That his Iranian handlers directed him to secure their communication by using codes to represent the targets e.g Uncle [Israel], Aunt [America] among others; That Lagos was preferred because his handlers believed that the Israelis have an intelligence facility there that is used in spying on Iran; That his lieutenants successfully conducted surveillance and gathered relevant data on the mentioned targets preparatory to possible attacks; That he personally took photographs of the Israeli cultural centre in Ikoyi, Lagos, which he sent to his handlers; That he was asked to establish a small business in Lagos that will serve as a cover for his activities; That he received US$ 4,000 upon completion of his training; 3,500 Euros in April, 2012, at the meeting in Dubai; and US$ 20,000 out of which he was to use US$ 10,000 to relocate to Lagos, furnish his house and rent a shop for his business, US$ 5,000 to cover Visa processing expenses while the remaining US$ 5,000 was for his up-keep.'

The Iranian government has its evil little hands all over the place. And they call the U.S. "The Great Satan."

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly- Christmas Around The Globe

Christmas is coming to a close in the U.S. In some regions of the world it has already come and gone, so I thought I'd give a little round up of Christmas happenings across the globe.

THE GOOD:

PAKISTAN: A small Christian community of about 200 in South Waziristan, Pakistan (smack dab in Taliban/al-Qaeda land), got to celebrate their Christmas at their little church inside the safety of an army base, where most congregants happen to live and work. They seem to live in harmony with their Muslim neighbours under the protection of the military.

AUSTRALIA:  Largest mosque in Australia backs down from its anti-Christmas fatwa.  Even wishing someone a "Merry Christmas" was to be considered a sin. Of course the backtracking was in response to outrage from both Muslims and non-Muslims alike.   (H/T TROP)


THE BAD:

INDONESIA: Moderate Indonesia's top clerics told Muslims it would be best not to wish anybody "Merry Christmas", because they weren't entirely sure if it was haram (forbidden) or halal (okay). Christmas parties? Definitely haram.  "Happy New Year", on the other hand, is fine.

200 or so conservative Muslims pelted about 100 or so Christians with rotten eggs as they were gathering to worship on a plot of land they hope to build a church. The government has barred them from doing so since 2009. (H/T TROP)

ISRAEL:  Businesses with Christmas trees faced losing their Kashrut (Kosher) certificates.

KUWAIT: Some radical conservative Muslims in Kuwait called for a ban on Christmas celebrations, but were blasted by liberal groups. Kuwait allows Christians to worship in the 12 or so churches there.

THE UGLY:

NIGERIA:  Six Christians, including the pastor, were killed in northern Nigeria as they celebrated midnight mass on Christmas eve. The church was then set on fire. (H/T TROP)

Ten More Christians Massacred In Nigeria By Islamists Boko Haram

Ten more Christians along with two policemen were massacred in Chibok, Northern Nigeria, by the Islamist extremist group Boko Haram on Saturday night. Although they haven't claimed ownership of the slaughter, who else would do such a thing?

"The attackers came in around 9:00 pm chanting 'Allahu Akbar', which made us suspect they are Boko Haram," said a local government official on condition of anonymity.

"They moved into selected homes in the predominantly Christian part of the town and slaughtered 10 people like sheep," the official added.

"Who else apart from Boko Haram members would go into homes and slit the throats of 10 people?" said another local official.

"They came armed with guns but decided to butcher their victims."

Local resident Ezekiel Damina said: "The men came in large numbers and went into homes which... were carefully selected, and slaughtered 10 people while shouting 'Allahu Akbar' (God is Greatest).

"They then set houses in the area on fire. They just sacked the neighbourhood."

They also allegedly targeted border posts which left the two policemen dead and other churches in the area.

Around 50 gunmen in cars and on motorcycles carried out attacks on three churches and border posts with neighbouring Cameroon, opening fire on police, residents said.

Among the security posts burned were offices for immigration, customs and the secret police and a quarantine building in the city of Gamboru Ngala, about 140 kilometres (80 miles) from the Boko Haram stronghold of Maiduguri.

Gunmen went into town "chanting 'Allahu Akbar' and burned down the divisional police station and three churches," said Hamidu Ahmad, a resident.

"I saw two bodies in police uniform not far from the police station. One of them was sprawled by the roadside while the other was seated in a police van," another resident, Sani Kani said.

Their God ought to be very proud of his savages.

18 Christians Killed In NIgeria By Radical Islamists Boko Haram

Another attack on Christians in the predominately Muslim northern part of Nigeria. 18 dead, so far, including three children.

Part of the violence is being blamed on the radical Muslim sect Boko Haram, but it was just ordinary Muslim villagers who attacked their Christian neighbours (30 miles from Kano) in response to a trader who allegedly insulted their Prophet Mohammed. According to the police there were no deaths, although one witness, Sadiq Ahmed, claims there were four dead bodies in front of shops owned by Christians, torched shops and a church.

Officials believe Boko Haram is responsible for three separate attacks that have occurred this week in Maiduguri, northeast Nigeria. There has been no official count, and the 18 dead were reported by witnesses, which means there could be many more. The police might be reluctant to report more deaths in case it prompts retaliatory action by Christians.

Earlier this week, a Christian vigilante group in central Nigeria killed a Muslim resident after he defied an illegal checkpoint the group had put up to protect their church from a Boko Haram attack, even though the sect had not previously struck in that area. The killing sparked riots that left 10 people dead.

Though the Muslims and Christians lived in peace for many years in that country, the increasing trend towards radical Islam has changed that dynamic, and there's nothing the government can do to stop the escalating violence.

President Goodluck Jonathan, whose government has responded to the crisis by sending more troops to the most affected areas, recently said on state-run television that Boko Haram remained a "faceless" group and that there was nobody for the government to meet with to seek peace.

Not that Boko Haram or any of the other radical Islamists in African countries (or elsewhere) are interested in peace.

Islamic Militants in Kenya and Nigeria Kill Christian Worshippers

Christian worshippers were killed by Islamic militants in Nigeria and Kenya on Sunday.
Although no group has claimed responsibility, Boko Haram and Al Shabaab (respectively) were more than likely involved.

The persecution and violence against non-Muslims will never stop.

2012 Heralds More Muslim Violence- From Iraq to Nigeria to Syria

Liberals love to blame the ongoing violence in the Muslim world on the "occupation". Well, we are no longer "occupying" Iraq and yet the bloodshed continues unabated. In fact it has actually increased since our troops pulled out of there at the end of last year. We're only eight days into 2012 and we've already witnessed a series of bomb attacks against Shiite Muslims which killed over 72 people and wounded scores more.  Earlier in the week families of police officers were targeted and multiple bomb blasts killed four Sunnis, two of which were children. The bombings have everyone worried about renewed sectarian strife.  Can't blame the West for that.

Then there's Nigeria. No occupation there. And yet Islamic militants 'Boko Haram' continue to wage war against the Christians in the northern part of that country. They want them out or dead, and they've been making sure they get the message. On Christmas day 2011 they bombed several churches, and haven't let up since. Just 8 days into 2012 and 20 more Christians were killed on Friday as they mourned the murder of three fellow Christians who had been killed on Thursday. Can't blame the West for that either.

And the recent suicide bombing in Syria? Nope, no occupation there either. 

This random violence in 'unoccupied' territories proves two things- that the whole theory of Western 'occupation' being the primary cause of Muslim violence is a fallacy, and that Islam is in no way a religion of peace, as so many proclaim. It's quite obvious they can't even get along with each other, let alone live peacefully with those of other religions.

After Christmas Day Bombings Boko Haram Tells Nigerian Christians They Have 3 Days To Get Out

Boko Haram- those oh-so enlightened and civilized Islamic extremists in Nigeria- after bombing several churches and killing about 40 on Christmas day, have told the southern Christians  living in the predominantly Islamic north to get the heck out in 3 days or else. 

As a result of those church bombings and escalating violence elsewhere, Nigeria's Christian President Goodluck Jonathan declared  a state of emergency in parts of the north where the "cancerous" (as he put it) Boko Haram killed almost 500 people last year.

"(Boko Haram) started as a harmless group . . . they have now grown cancerous," Mr Jonathan said.  "And Nigeria, being the body, they want to kill it. But nobody will allow them to do that."

Besides giving the Christians a 3 day ultimatum, they also threatened soldiers. During a conference call with journalists by Abul Qaqa, a spokesman for Boko Haram, he said

“We find it pertinent to state that soldiers will only kill innocent Muslims in the local government areas where the state of emergency was declared. We would confront them squarely to protect our brothers.”

Speaking in the Hausa language common throughout the north, Qaqa said “we also wish to call on our fellow Muslims to come back to the north because we have evidence that they would be attacked.” 

Three days, how generous.

Boko Haram is a Salafi-inspired group that was formed in 2002 by Mohammed Yusuf, its educated, Mercedes Benz-owning spiritual leader. Killed in 2009 by Nigerian forces, he believed anything western was un-Islamic and therefore haram (forbidden), hence the loosely translated name for Boko Haram: 'Western education is forbidden'.  But it wasn't until 2009 that it officially turned into a terrorist group, although that was probably always its hidden agenda.  Apparently, Yusuf built a mosque and school with the express goal of training jihadis.  He accomplished this by providing an education for poor people throughout Nigeria and surrounding countries. Although the Nigerian government had been forewarned by at least one military official and various Muslim leaders about Boko Haram's aims, nothing was ever done until 2009, and by then it was too late. This is the problem when governments tolerate these types of groups without keeping tabs on them. They start off as seemingly innocent and "harmless" until the 'cancer' metastasizes and spreads. and then you're done for. 

But it's not just Christians who have been targeted, they have also attacked other Muslims who don't happen to be as backwards as they. And the Christians have retaliated, and leaders claim that next time around they will defend themselves. These latest round of attacks by Boko Haram, especially the Christmas day bombings, have the country fearing an escalation of violence that could spiral out of control, even more so than it has.

This is a good lesson for us all.  Cut out that cancer before it kills us.

Islamic Violence Burns Down 8 Churches In Nigeria and Blows Up Hotel In Philippines

I picked up my local paper this morning and discovered that those harbingers of peace and enlightenment were busy this past weekend, as per usual.

Boko Haram, Islamic extremists-cum-terrorists, had a field day attacking Christians, burning down eight churches, a bank (which they robbed), a police station and several local businesses in Geidam, in northeastern Nigeria.

"The Geidam divisional police headquarters and First Bank were bombed on Saturday evening by Boko Haram and fire was exchanged into the night between police and Boko Haram members," a police spokesman told reporters. "Four policemen were killed, 20 wounded, eight churches and 20 market stalls as well as Geidam council secretariat are completely destroyed."

No-one knows the exact casualty count, yet, but they managed to kill over 100 people during an attack the beginning of November, in the capital of Damaturu. 

Even though southern Nigeria is mostly Christian and the north is predominately Muslim, Boko Haram, which means "Western education is forbidden"  is hell-bent on establishing Shariah Law in all regions of the country.

Then we have the bomb blast that literally blew off the roof of a modest two story hotel in Zamboanga, Philippines. Although not directly linked  to a local Christian wedding that was being hosted there on Monday,  it is being blamed on one of that country's small but deadly Islamic terrorist groups Abu Sayyaf. At least 3 people were killed and over 27 wounded in the blast, two seriously injured. Apparently, Abu Sayyaf had planned two attacks, one in Isabela City where a bomb was defused near a local business. Authorities believe the owner was being extorted and refused to pay. The owner of the hotel in Zamboanga denies any extortion threats. Abu Sayyaf are bucking for an independent Islamic state in Mindanao.

Interesting to note that not only are they religious extremists, they're also common criminals.
