Banda Aceh Police Deny Rape Allegations Against 3 Officers

Apparently in ultra-conservative Banda Aceh, where women straddling men on motorcycles is now a no-no, multiple police having sex with an alleged 'prostitute' isn't such a bad thing. The trouble is, the 19-year-old woman- that the three Indonesian police officers have said they paid for sex- claims she was force-fed methamphetamine, and then gang raped by the officers. Police officials are corroborating the officers' account, saying she was paid for the sex and enjoyed it. The girl's uncle disputes that.

Marhadin, the uncle of the alleged victim, said on Monday that the incident occurred last Thursday, when the woman arranged to meet one of the officers outside his rented room in the morning.

However, when they met, he and two other officers forced her inside the room, where they forced her to consume meth, Marhadin said.

“She was raped by one of them while the others watched,” he claimed.

He added that after the ordeal, the officers would not allow her to leave until late at night, and when they finally did let her go, she was still under the influence of the drugs and had to be hospitalized.

“We demand that the perpetrators be brought to justice for their heinous crime,” Marhadin said.

“We hope they are punished to the fullest extent of the law to serve as an example, so acts like these no longer occur.”

The police, however, insist there was no harm done because the sex was agreed upon beforehand and the officers had paid the victim afterward.

“After an investigation, the three officers admitted to violating this girl and paying her Rp 200,000 [$21] for the enjoyment,” Adj. Sr. Comr. Parluatan Siregar, the Simeulue Police chief, was quoted as saying in the Serambi Indonesia newspaper.

“So it wasn’t a rape. If she claims she was really raped by the officers, why didn’t she get a medical checkup done when she was in the hospital?”

He confirmed that the three officers had been placed in custody, not for the alleged sexual violence but for using meth.

“All three tested positive for using meth,” he said.

“They all agreed to use meth before [the sexual contact] so that they would enjoy it more. That’s what they claimed.”

So even though sex is forbidden outside of marriage in Islam and is punishable by Shariah law, it's okay- in this case- because they supposedly paid for it, or  because they're police officers? What am I missing here? What part of Surah An-Nur, chapter 24 of the Quran do they not get?

1. A sūrah which Allah has sent down and made obligatory and revealed in it verses of clear evidence so you might remember.

2. The woman or man found guilty of sexual intercourse - whip each one with 100 lashes, and do not take pity on them in the deen of Allah, if you believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a group of the believers witness their punishment.

3. The fornicator does not marry except another fornicator or polytheist, and none marries her except a fornicator or a polytheist, and that has been made unlawful to the believers.

4. And those who accuse chaste women and then do not produce four witnesses – lash them with eighty lashes and do not accept from them testimony ever after. And those are the defiantly disobedient,

5. Except for those who repent thereafter and reform, for indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
They will however be punished for using meth, according to spokesman for the provincial police, Sr. Cmdr Gustav Leo, if found guilty. But forget the rape, or punishment for having sex with a prostitute, if she really was one, which is doubtful. They'll be far more interested in punishing women for straddling bikes.

Afghan Rapist And Victim Both Killed In Honor Killing

An Afghan man tries to rape a married woman while the husband is gone, and what do her family do? They kill both the man and the woman, because of course she sullied their good name by almost being raped. Only in Afghanistan- where a woman is victimized twice. Where a rape victim has three choices: jail, marry the rapist or death.

According to local authorities in eastern Ghazni province of Afghanistan, an Afghan man was killed in a failed rape attempt along with the victim in Deh-Yak district on Tuesday.
District attorney general chief for Deh-Yak Mohammad confirming the report said the incident took place late Tuesday night in Shaadi Qala village.
He said, “A man was trying to rape a woman while her husband was away from home but the relatives of the woman kill her along with the man after they were informed of the incident.”
Sadly, it will never get better. And once we leave that country, it will only get worse, if that's at all possible.

Saudi Sergeant Rapes 13 Year-Old Boy In Vegas

Mazen Alotaibi, a Saudi Air Force sergeant stationed in the US (although no-one seems to know definitively why), took a little trip to sin city for New Year's eve. I guess the 23-year-old, after living in the repressive Kingdom where most everything is forbidden, decided to indulge in some massive alcohol consumption. Hennessy, apparently. Staying at the Circus Circus hotel in Las Vegas, Alotaibi admittedly got stinking drunk. That's when the Saudi spied a young 13-year-old boy that took his fancy. So he grabbed the kid, dragged him into his room and sexually assaulted him.

The police arrived on the scene sometime before 9:30 a.m. on New Year's eve day after the young kid reported the rape. Denying it at first, Alotaibi eventually confessed telling the police he was drunk and forced himself on the boy after the kid refused to service him for money.

The report stated that the 23-year-old Saudi national told investigators that he had the boy perform oral sex on him 'for just a couple of seconds,' and then 'accidentally' raped him.

‘There was a kidnapping and sexual assault with force,’ Las Vegas police Lt. Dan McGrath said. ‘The victim said he was forced into the room and sexually assaulted. We have a strong case based on the evidence.'

The boy, who lives out of state, was staying at the hotel with his family, McGrath said. He was taken to a hospital for medical treatment and evidence collection and released later to family members.

How do you "accidentally" rape someone?

Oh, and there were three other males in the room smoking pot.

According to McGrath, Alotaibi claims he was stationed at Joint Base San Antonio/Lackland, but spokesman Brent Boller says he's stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi at Keesler Air Force Base. Boller wasn't sure if Alotaibi had ever been at Lackland, though foreign military often are assigned to Lackland to improve their English at the Defense Language Institute.

And it seems Alotaibi might be a rich kid- or the Saudi Arabian government takes good care of its citizens, even the perverts- because he quickly hired a California lawyer. Attorney Don Chairez said Alotaibi will plead not guilty.

And besides the kidnapping, raping a minor, and "felony coercion" charges, he's also facing a charge of:

... burglary, which in Nevada can stem from a person entering a building with intent to commit a felony.
He could face a nice long jail term, if he doesn't get shipped home. If he was home he'd face a flogging or death for being a homosexual. And though pederasty is commonplace in places like Afghanistan, these men don't consider themselves gay. So he'd probably get off scott free.

No bail for the miscreant here.

UPDATE: Actress Sues- Belvedere Vodka's Outrageous 'Rape Ad' Goes Viral

Thing about the digital and social networking age is that something can go viral in an instant, and if it happens to be negative it can cause a huge backlash.  The Polish company Belvedere Vodka learned the hard way that social media and an asinine marketing campaign don't mix.

Apparently, someone thought it would be funny to shoot the above ad of a frightened young woman being grabbed from behind by a leering young man, with the obvious sexual connotations in the text. It was posted to their 10,263 Twitter followers and 916,970 Facebook fans, many of whom were obviously outraged. Within an hour it was removed from both sites, and eventually there was an apology of sorts:

But not enough of one, for some:

“FAIL. Never touching your product ever again."

“We apologize to any of our fans who were offended by our recent tweet. We continue to be an advocate of safe and responsible drinking.”

According to Forbes, the company did make a full apology on its website, and has also donated generously to RAINN, an organization dedicated to anti-sexual violence. Belvedere is also looking into how this happened in the first place, though no-one has been fired yet.

Rape is not funny, and neither is the ad.

UPDATE 3/31:

It seems that Moet Hennessy, the parent company of Belvedere Vodka, actually stole the photo used in their tasteless ad, and the actress, Alicyn Packard, is suing.

The lawsuit, filed in a California state court in Los Angeles, seeks compensatory and punitive damages.[snip]

According to the complaint, the photo of Packard was a stolen from a video made by her company Strickly Viral Productions.

In that video, she and the man - her friend and Strickly Viral owner Chris Strickland - are asked by her parents to recreate a pose from a photo taken when they were young.

According to the Hollywood Reporter,

"While Defendants have apologized to nearly everyone else, and admitted the offensiveness of the advertisement," says the lawsuit, "they have yet to apologize to the plaintiff, whose image she says they used without permission to sell vodka, and who has now been unwillingly made the face of the Belvedere advertising campaign that jokes about rape, and has been put front and center in the worldwide controversy created by Defendants."

Not cool to use someone's photo  without their permission, and in California (as in other states) it's illegal.

The photo on their Facebook page.

Raped Afghan Woman Gets Choice of 12 Years In Jail or Marry Her Rapist

Imagine getting raped and then being forced to make a decision between two equally horrendous choices:

A. marry your rapist or
B. 12 years in jail.

This is what a young Afghan woman, Gulnaz, faces after her cousin's husband allegedly violated her 2 years ago at the age of 19. Convicted of adultery, courtesy of Islamic Afghan law, she still could face being killed by family members who feel they have been dishonored.  The rapist, who denies he raped her, is also in jail, admits as much. But according to him, it won't be his family who will kill her, it will be her family.

Gulnaz says of the rape,

He had filthy clothes on as he does metal and construction work,’ she told CNN in an exclusive interview.

‘He closed doors and windows. I started screaming, but he shut me up by putting his hands on my mouth,’ she said.

Faced with having to spend 12 years in jail, along with the child she gave birth to as a result of the rape, she has said she is willing to marry her rapist.

I was asked if I wanted to start a new life by getting released, by marrying this man’.

She added: ‘My daughter is a little innocent child. Who knew I would have a child in this way. A lot of people told me that after your daughter's born give it to someone else, but my aunt told me to keep her as proof of my innocence.

I'm sure there are those who might be skeptical about the rape allegations, but even if it was consensual (which I doubt) 12 years for adultery?

Only in Islam is the female victim re-victimized.
