The Hypocrisy of Some Hijabis- Comedian Sadia Azmats

I have no issues with those who choose to dress modestly. To each his own, as they say.  And almost every religion has its conservative faction. What I do take issue with are those who use it as a political statement, those who force their women to dress conservatively, and those who might dress modestly but act in a contradictory fashion.

Take Sadia Azmats, a British Muslim stand-up comedian who wears a head covering, and then dresses like this.

The whole point of dressing "modestly in Islam, is not to call attention to oneself. Yet here Sadia is wearing skin-tight pants and red stiletto f-me shoes. Then again, she told Metro UK a few days ago:

It’s Ramadan, the month where Muslims not only fast our stomachs (during daylight hours) but when we Muslim women strive for modesty wherever it can be sought out.

The ‘modesty’ part is a bit of a problem for me. I’ve had sex during Ramadan (after Iftar, not during the fast which isn’t permitted) and it’s great.

Well it’s great all year round but there is a heightened sense of arousal given the increased awareness of primal urges through the hunger and thirst. If I had a choice, I’d give up a sandwich over semen.

But when I’m not observing fasting during the 30 days of Ramadan then society imposes upon me an almost involuntary fasting by holding me to a higher set of expectations than I do of myself.

Society expects me to be a ‘good girl’ and to lower my gaze around men. Muslim women are supposed to be bastions of culture, tradition, and responsibility, especially during Ramadan.

Muslim women like me – rounded, complicated, emotive and above all horny – aren’t even supposed to exist.

Say whaaat?  Premarital sex in Islam is haram (forbidden) and considered a sin. According to Al-Islam:

(A) Pre-Marital Sex
Pre-marital sex is absolutely forbidden in Islam, no matter whether it is with a girl-friend or a prostitute. Pre-marital sex is fornication (zina).

It also happens to be punishable according to Sharia law.

Allah says:

Do not go near adultery, surely it is an indecency, and an evil way [of fulfilling sexual urge]. (17:32)

Fornication and adultery have severely been condemned in the saying of the Prophet and the Imams. In Islam, pre-marital sex is considered an immoral act against the rights of Allah and one's own sexual organs.

Pre-marital sex is a sin punishable by the Islamic court. If an unmarried man and an unmarried woman are found guilty of fornication in an Islamic court, their punishment will be as the following:

The woman and the man who fornicate scourge each of them a hundred whips; and in the matter of God s religion, let no tenderness for them seize you if you believe in God and the Last Day; and let a party of the believers witness their punishment. (24:2)

If the unmarried man or woman commit fornication more than once, then they will be punished three times by hundred wipes, and if they are proven guilty for the fourth time, then they will be put to death.6 (As for adultery, its punishment is even more severe because married persons have no excuse, whatsoever, to commit adultery. The shari'ah says that married persons guilty of adultery should be stoned to death.)

Therefore, pre-marital sex is out of the question as a means of fulfilling the sexual urge.

So, on the one hand, Sadia is wearing a hijab to show her devotion to her Allah:

The hijab is worn by Muslim women as an act of obedience to God’s command in the Quran, where Allah (God) says:

وَقُل لِّلْمُؤْمِنَاتِ يَغْضُضْنَ مِنْ أَبْصَارِهِنَّ وَيَحْفَظْنَ فُرُوجَهُنَّ وَلَا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا ۖ وَلْيَضْرِبْنَ بِخُمُرِهِنَّ عَلَىٰ جُيُوبِهِنَّ ۖ وَلَا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ

“And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment….” (Quran 24:31)

And yet she's blatantly going against Islamic law by having pre-marital sex.

How's that for breathtaking hypocrisy.

Sadia wants to wear the hijab, I honestly don't care, but act accordingly.

Dolce & Gabbana Goes Islamic- Creates Luxury Hijab Line

You know Dolce & Gabanna, the Italian uber-expensive luxury clothing line- they've now created a luxury hijab and abaya collection. For all those wealthy Arabs who refuse to take in any of their co-religionist refugees from Syria and surrounding areas. According to Vogue:

The line will likely prove good news for D&G’s 2016 revenue as well. According to a report by Thomson Reuters, Muslim shoppers spent $266 billion on clothing and footwear in 2013 and are expected to spend $484 billion by 2019.

According to a piece published by Fortune in July, Muslim women spent $266 billion US globally on clothing and footwear in 2013 alone – a figure that is expected to almost double by 2019.

Another report cited by Forbes shows that in the Middle East specifically, sales of personal luxury goods hit $8.7 billion US in 2015, up from $6.8 billion US in 2014.

"Women from wealthy oil states have long expressed their flair for fashion with pricey handbags and shoes, visible when worn with an abaya and hijab," writes Clare O'Connor in the Forbes piece. "Many of these women are already consumers of designer apparel, often wearing brands including Dolce & Gabbana head-to-toe underneath their modest abayas, viewable in the privacy of their homes or among other women."

The outfits are actually quite chic, and the prices probably exorbitant.

But isn't the whole purpose of Muslim modesty NOT to stand out?

As for dolce & Gabbana, dhimmis or after the Arab big bucks?

Iranian Women's Soccer Team Mostly Men

Here's an interesting story: many of the players on the Iranian women's soccer (football) team are actually men. Eight, to be exact, and possibly the goal keeper. They're either waiting for sexual reassignment surgeries or suffering from sexual identity disorders.

And sex changes are apparently legal in Iran thanks to a fatwa from head religious honcho Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. Who would have thought that in a country where homesexuality is punishable by death, transgenders are cool.

Go figure.

Meet Gisele Marie, The Niqab-Clad Heavy Metal Guitarist From Brazil

Gisele Marie, is a Brazil-based heavy metal guitarist who also happens to be a Muslim niqab-wearing convert. Yes indeedy, she was allegedly born to Catholic German parents in Sao Paulo, Brazil, 42 years ago, found her way to Wicca, and then converted to Islam in 2009 after her dad died.

"Spectrus" is her brothers heavy metal band, and she's been playing with them since 2012, though it appears she has recently parted ways and has started her own ban with a 2016 release of a new album.

Gisele Marie says of her:

“People do not expect to see a Muslim woman who uses a Burqa, practices the religion properly and is a professional guitarist who plays in a Heavy Metal band. " “So many people are shocked by it, but other people are curious and find it interesting, and others think that it is cool.

Surely she should know that those who are so uber devout that they feel the need to wear a niqab or burqa also believe that music is haram (forbidden) in their religion.

It's probably a gimmick, and she's probably a man. Check her out.

Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei Wants Western Youth To Study Quran

After all the recent horrors perpetrated in the name of Islam, Iran's head honcho, ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, to reach out to the youth of Europe and North America with an invitation to:  read the Quran, learn about Islam, don't believe what the politicians and media tell you about his religion.

He, of course, is deluded.

In the name of God, the Beneficent the Merciful

To the Youth in Europe and North America,

The recent events in France and similar ones in some other Western countries have convinced me to directly talk to you about them. I am addressing you, [the youth], not because I overlook your parents, rather it is because the future of your nations and countries will be in your hands; and also I find that the sense of quest for truth is more vigorous and attentive in your hearts.

I don’t address your politicians and statesmen either in this writing because I believe that they have consciously separated the route of politics from the path of righteousness and truth.

I would like to talk to you about Islam, particularly the image that is presented to you as Islam. Many attempts have been made over the past two decades, almost since the disintegration of the Soviet Union, to place this great religion in the seat of a horrifying enemy. The provocation of a feeling of horror and hatred and its utilization has unfortunately a long record in the political history of the West.

Here, I don’t want to deal with the different phobias with which the Western nations have thus far been indoctrinated. A cursory review of recent critical studies of history would bring home to you the fact that the Western governments’ insincere and hypocritical treatment of other nations and cultures has been censured in new historiographies.

The histories of the United States and Europe are ashamed of slavery, embarrassed by the colonial period and chagrined at the oppression of people of color and non-Christians. Your researchers and historians are deeply ashamed of the bloodsheds wrought in the name of religion between the Catholics and Protestants or in the name of nationality and ethnicity during the First and Second World Wars. This approach is admirable.

By mentioning a fraction of this long list, I don’t want to reproach history; rather I would like you to ask your intellectuals as to why the public conscience in the West awakens and comes to its senses after a delay of several decades or centuries. Why should the revision of collective conscience apply to the distant past and not to the current problems? Why is it that attempts are made to prevent public awareness regarding an important issue such as the treatment of Islamic culture and thought?

You know well that humiliation and spreading hatred and illusionary fear of the “other” have been the common base of all those oppressive profiteers. Now, I would like you to ask yourself why the old policy of spreading “phobia” and hatred has targeted Islam and Muslims with an unprecedented intensity. Why does the power structure in the world want Islamic thought to be marginalized and remain latent? What concepts and values in Islam disturb the programs of the super powers and what interests are safeguarded in the shadow of distorting the image of Islam? Hence, my first request is: Study and research the incentives behind this widespread tarnishing of the image of Islam.


My second request is that in reaction to the flood of prejudgments and disinformation campaigns, try to gain a direct and firsthand knowledge of this religion. The right logic requires that you understand the nature and essence of what they are frightening you about and want you to keep away from.

I don’t insist that you accept my reading or any other reading of Islam. What I want to say is: Don’t allow this dynamic and effective reality in today’s world to be introduced to you through resentments and prejudices. Don’t allow them to hypocritically introduce their own recruited terrorists as representatives of Islam.

Receive knowledge of Islam from its primary and original sources. Gain information about Islam through the Qur’an and the life of its great Prophet. I would like to ask you whether you have directly read the Qur’an of the Muslims. Have you studied the teachings of the Prophet of Islam and his humane, ethical doctrines? Have you ever received the message of Islam from any sources other than the media?

Have you ever asked yourself how and on the basis of which values has Islam established the greatest scientific and intellectual civilization of the world and raised the most distinguished scientists and intellectuals throughout several centuries?

I would like you not to allow the derogatory and offensive image-buildings to create an emotional gulf between you and the reality, taking away the possibility of an impartial judgment from you. Today, the communication media have removed the geographical borders. Hence, don’t allow them to besiege you within fabricated and mental borders.

Although no one can individually fill the created gaps, each one of you can construct a bridge of thought and fairness over the gaps to illuminate yourself and your surrounding environment. While this preplanned challenge between Islam and you, the youth, is undesirable, it can raise new questions in your curious and inquiring minds. Attempts to find answers to these questions will provide you with an appropriate opportunity to discover new truths.

Therefore, don’t miss the opportunity to gain proper, correct and unbiased understanding of Islam so that hopefully, due to your sense of responsibility toward the truth, future generations would write the history of this current interaction between Islam and the West with a clearer conscience and lesser resentment.

Yes, thankfully most of us are ashamed of our past- slavery, colonialism, and oppression of people of color, but he fails to acknowledge that Arab Muslims were slave traders, oppressed people of color, homosexuals, women, non-Muslims and Muslim-minorities, and continue to do so to this day. At least we left that in the past. He also fails to mention that the Ottoman Empire was a form of imperialism, as bad as colonialism, and the quest for a global caliphate by radical Muslims continues that imperialism to this day.

Maybe if Iran made a major effort to clean up its act and evolve, people might take him up on his invitation.

Tunisian Cleric Who Praised Europe's Tolerance, Preaches Death For Cursing Mohammed

On December 27th, a video posted on the Internet shows Tunisian Sheikh Bechir Ben Hassen in front of the International Court of Justice in The Hague. He praises Europe for allowing Muslims the freedom to preach their faith in Islam, to wear what they want, for "unfettered" freedom of speech.

"One finds here a considerable measure of justice, which in many Muslim societies was lost under the pretext of fighting terrorism and fanaticism. They themselves have descended into anti-religious extremism and fanaticism. When freedoms are denied when people are oppressed, and when scholars and preachers are silenced, one should not wonder about the spread of extremism and takfir, which lead to terrorism."

I'm not sure what "societies" he's referring to, but it's the extremist preachers who are not silenced who are the ones radicalizing the youth of today.

He also talks about the importance of teaching children the notion of moderate Islam. Blablabla.Then MEMRI shows another clip posted on the Internet on December 24, where this 'moderate' Muslim talks about Tunisia being a Sunni country, and that the Shiites have no right to be there, claiming they pose a greater threat to Islam than the Jews and Christians. He also states that wherever there are Shiites, stability and security are

"shattered, and crimes, attacks, and bloodshed appear on the scene."

Really? Let's see what brand of Islam all the most violent extremist groups belong to:

ISIS are Sunni.
Al Qaeda are Sunni.
Taliban - Deobandi Sunni.
Boko Haram - Sunni.
Al Shabaab - Deobandi Sunni.

And then we see that same preacher- who stood in the snow in The Hague talking about the wonders of freedom of speech in Europe- preaching about death for anyone who curses the prophet Mohammed. He asserts that this is sanctioned in both the Quran and the Sunnah.

Islam needs to get rid of this kind of preacher, if it ever wants to evolve.

ISIS Publishes Price List For Yazidi and Christian Slaves As Young As One-Year-Old

According to the Iraqi News, the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) slave trade has been slowing down, so it put together a price list for abducted Christian and Yazidi women and children in order to control prices. They range from $43.00 for a middle-aged woman to $172.00 for a toddler. This, after a video surfaced showing men joking about Yazidi sex slaves.

“The market to sell women and spoils of war has been experiencing a significant decrease, which has adversely affected ISIS revenue and financing of the Mujahideen.”

You'll lose your head if you don't adhere to the controls, and forget about buying more than 3 "spoils" of war. However, if you're a foreign jihadist from Turkey, Syria and Arabs from the Gulf States, it seems you get carte blanche.

Prices:

A (Yazidi or Christian) woman, aged 40 to 50 years, is for 50,000 dinars.

The rate of a (Yazidi or Christian) woman, aged 30 to 40 years, is 75,000 dinars.

The rate for a (Yazidi or Christian) woman, aged 20 to 30 years, is 100,000 dinars.

A (Yazidi or Christian) girl, aged 10 to 20 years, is for 150,000 dinars.

A (Yazidi or Christian) child’s price, aged 1 to 9 years, is 200,000 dinars.

Video- ISIS fighters in Iraq Joking About Yezidi Sex Slaves

There's a video that has surfaced of alleged ISIS jihadists in Iraq joking about buying, selling and trading their Yezidi sex slaves, which is sanctioned in Islam.

It was translated by an Arabic journalist for Al Aan TV in Dubai- Jenan Moussa- who translated the video, and posted it on Twitter.

From the comments on YouTube, there are some who believe the men are Saudi, others think that it's fake, and then we have people like this idiot:

This is in accordance with the Koran, stop attacking these people and their culture. who are you to criticize?
White people invented slavery. if anything these men are victims of white imperialism.

No wonder young men are joining ISIS in droves, as repressive as the religion is, they can get lucky, and it's cool with Mohammad and Allah.

Muslim Private School Teacher Accused Of Raping Middle Schoolers In Florida

Tariq Ahmed was a middle and high school teacher at the Nur-Ul-Islam Academy in Cooper City, Florida. Right now, he is nowhere to be found since accusations of rape surfaced this past May. He allegedly sexually abused two middle schoolers dating back to 2007, and the school was aware of the allegations but did nothing about it.

Scott Mager, one of the victim's attorney said:

“They knew in 2008. What do they do? Absolutely nothing, expect accuse the kid of doing it. What do they do, they blame, they cover up, they don’t tell the parents."

After years of therapy, the students finally came forward.

Mager said of the abuse, which took place off campus, but was arranged in the classroom in code:

“There was significant sexual abuse, intercourse and other inappropriate behavior such that one of the students had to have substantial surgical repair of that (private) area. It’s horrific."

The school's statement:

Recently, we have become aware of disturbing allegations regarding a former teacher of Nur-ul-Islam Academy, Inc. (the “Academy”). These allegations relate to alleged acts of the teacher 6 to 8 years ago, which did not occur on the school’s premise, concerning at least one former student of the Academy. Upon learning of these allegations, the Academy immediately suspended the teacher’s employment, barred him from any further contact with Academy students and has since terminated his employment with the Academy. Although none of the acts are alleged to have occurred on the Academy’s campus, such acts, if true, clearly violate the conduct policy of the Academy, along with being a gross dereliction of the high level of moral character the Academy expects from its faculty.The Academy’s primary concern is to foster a safe and caring environment for all of its students, in which they can flourish personally and academically. The Academy, therefore, has undertaken a full review of its policies to determine what, if anything, needs to be done to further ensure the safety of our students. In the spirit of Islamic teachings, we offer prayers for the well-being of all our students, current and former.

He has been charged with six felony counts- that is, if he's ever caught.  He's probably on a plane to Pakistan or wherever he's from.

Yes, this has happened in other private religious schools of other faiths, however, Muslims hold themselves to a higher moral ground, therefore should be held to a higher standard.

ISIS Selling Non-Muslim Women and Children As Sex Slaves For $10.00

According to the United Nations, Islamic State jihadists are selling and trading Christian and Yazidi women and children as sex slaves for $10.00 or $12.00 in order to attract new recruits. They have actually set up slave markets in an area in Mosul, Iraq, and Raqqa, Syria.  How piously Muslim of them.

At least 2,500 women and children have been imprisoned, sexually abused and sold for around $10 each by Isis slavers.

Women who were captured at the end of August managed to contact the UN, having kept hold of their mobile phones. They reported being subject to sexual assaults.

The UN study is based on claims made in 450 interviews with Iraqi witnesses to alleged war crimes.

UN high commissioner for human Rights Zeid Ra'ad al Hussein told the Daily Mail: "The array of violations and abuses perpetrated by ISIL and associated armed groups is staggering, and many of their acts may amount to war crimes or crimes against humanity."

One 13-year-old Yazidi girl gave a harrowing account of what happened to her after she was abducted by Isis from her village on 3 August.

"She stated that ISIL [Islamic State] took hundreds of women who had not been able to flee to Jabal Sinjar," stated the report. "The girl stated that she was raped several times by several ISIL fighters, before she was sold to a market."

They've also been gang raped.

One Yazidi woman was given to 10 Islamic State men. "We were sold for $10 or $12. Who could accept that behaviour? Can God accept that?" the woman told Euronews. "It's a shame to rape a woman, but when she is raped by 10 men… what is this? They are animals, they are not humans. Because of them I am afraid all the time."

They are worse than animals.

UK Female ISIS Jihadists Running Brothels In Syria

More Muslim hypocrisy. All those young British women who have run off to join ISIS in Syria are running brothels as part of a 'police' force in Raqqa where Islamic State militants are raping captured Iraqi women. Islam does not allow pre-marital sex, that's considered 'adultery' punishable by stoning, but hey, it's okay as long as the women are not Muslim.

As many as 3,000 Iraqi women have been taken captive in the last two weeks by the terror group.

Sources suggest that members of the all-women al-Khanssaa Brigade in Raqqa, Syria, are running brothels to satisfy the fighters’ desires.

One said: “These women are using barbaric interpretations of the Islamic faith to justify their actions.

“The Yazidi people are being ethnically cleansed, and their women are being subjected to the most brutal treatment.

“It is the British women who have risen to the top of the Islamic State’s sharia police and now they are in charge of this operation.

"It is as bizarre as it is perverse.”

There are estimated to be at least 60 female Brits in Syria, and they are persuading others to join them.

Rotherham Dads Arrested After Tracking Down Muslim Child Rapists

Alexis Jay's report on the Rotherham child sex abuse scandal claims that two dad's who tracked down their daughters to houses where they were being abused were arrested instead.

 “In two of the cases, fathers tracked down their daughters and tried to remove them from houses where they were being abused, only to be arrested themselves when police were called to the scene.

“In a small number of cases, the victims themselves were arrested for offences such as breach of the peace or being drunk and disorderly, with no action taken against the perpetrators of rape and sexual assault against children.”

Very few people were successfully prosecuted for the 1400 or so child rapes.  Five to date.

 “The courage required of children to give evidence against their attackers has been rightly commended, but the challenges cannot be underestimated.

“Many children refused to give evidence, or withdrew statements as a direct result of threats, intimidation and assaults against them or their families.

“Overall, the small number of prosecutions is disproportionate to the numbers of children abused and the seriousness of the offences committed against them.”

Shameful. And all because they were afraid of being called racists, or what they really mean by that- Islamophobes.

Race Played Part In Rotherham Sex Abuse Scandal, Muslims Outraged

Remember the Rotherham sex abuse scandal?  Where 1,400 white girls- in a town of 250,00- including some as young as 12,  were groomed and sexually exploited by mainly Pakistani Muslim males?  This had been going on for 16 years (between 1997 and 2103) and there are now reports that the authorities did little about it because they were afraid of being called racists. Only five men were convicted in 2010, with jail terms ranging from a mere 4 to 9 years, even though it turns out many more were not investigated or prosecuted.  In other words, it was far more widespread than officials were willing to admit- because the "crimes had 'cultural characteristics...which are locally sensitive in terms of diversity'"

Woah, so does this mean that because they believe some ethnic groups find it "culturally" okay to rape young girls, nothing should be done about it in the name of diversity? They didn't want to ruffle feathers?

Well, apparently the Pakistani community is outraged, and rightfully so.

Muhbeen Hussain, founder of Rotherham Muslim Youth Group, told the Daily Mirror on Wednesday that Muslims are disgusted that justice was not done — leading to some 1,400 children being sexually exploited over a 16-year period, mostly by Pakistani men.

"Race, religion or political correctness should never provide a cloak of invisibility to such grotesque crimes."

The woman who released the report, Alexis Jay, claims it's a global problem:

"..demand for this kind of sexual activity with children is on the increase and that is validated across not just the UK but Europe and worldwide."

And it's not just Muslims, though one would think that since Muslims hold themselves to a higher moral authority there would be fewer cases involving child sex abuse.

Javed Khan, head of a children's organization dealing with vulnerable kids, had this to say:

"No one should ever be frightened to act decisively because of fear of being seen as racist or politically incorrect."

That's all well and good, however, if the U.K. is anything like the U.S., organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations have forced people to say and do nothing for fear of being labeled racists or Islamophobes.

They should be outraged, not just by the inaction of Rotherham officials, but the fact that there are so many members of their community who are pedophiles.  But it's another good start.

No Burkinis Allowed In Some Moroccan Resort Private Pools

Wow. This is pretty darn amazing.  Several private resorts in Marrakesh, Morocco are banning burkinis in the private pools. You know those bathing suits that cover pretty much everything other than a woman's face.  They claim "hygiene reasons", and only your run-of-the-mill bathing suits are allowed.

Mazagan Beach and Golf Resort in al-Jadida near Casablanca is one of those hotels that is banning burkinis and requiring "ordinary swimsuits."

Of course, it's not sitting well with some in that country.

Abdelaziz Aftati, an MP of the ruling Moderate Islamist Justice and Development Party, sent a complaint to Tourism Minister Lahcen Haddad, after a woman wearing a burkini was reportedly banned from a swimming pool in al-Jadida, according to Morocco World News.

Aftati told the press that it is unacceptable to restrict people’s freedom and their beliefs, saying the move signified the “rudeness of the new colonization.”

A little like Islamists and fundamentalists requiring women to wear hijab, or burqas in certain countries in that region? Typical double standards of conservative Muslims.

And, of course, if that happened in this country, you'd have CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) on the case in a snap. There would be threats of law suits and people would cave.

I hope the resorts stay firm.

ISIS Forces Out The Last Christians In Mosul, Iraq With Their Jizya Or Convert Demands

After living there for centuries, there are no more Christians in Mosul.  ISIS/ISIL gave them an ultimatum after gaining control of the northern Iraqi city- Convert to Islam, retain Dhimma status and pay the jizya (infidel tax), or death by the sword. They had until yesterday, July 19th to decide. The few remaining families left on the eve of the deadline, most with just the clothes on their back. Apparently, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the appointed Caliph of the Islamic State, announced that those who chose to leave would not be allowed to take any of their possessions. The few who tried, claim they were robbed.

Many fled to Iraqi Kurdistan, others to Hamdaniya, a predominately Christian town southeast of Mosul protected by Kurdish forces. One 60-year-old woman had this to say about leaving:

"We have lived in this city and we have had a civilisation for thousands of years - and suddenly some strangers came and expelled us from our homes."

Another man spoke about being robbed:

"The Islamic State stopped my relatives at a checkpoint when they were fleeing and when they found out they were Christians, they took everything they were carrying, including their mobile phones. They left them only with the clothes they were wearing."

But the Christians aren't the only ones ISIL has targeted, the Sunni radicals have forced Kurdish Yazidis, and Turkmen and Shabak Shi'ites to flee as well. Those they haven't captured or killed.

And that area was once considered the "cradle of civilization."

Saudi Arabia To Unban Movie Theatres?

Saudis are banned from watching movies and have been for about three decades or so. I suppose viewing them is un-Islamic because, you know, movies existed back in Mohammad's day, and it explicitly states in the Quran: "Thou shalt not watch movies. They are very evil."  Actually, Saudis are allowed to rent films and watch television, though I would assume in an extremely censored manner.  It's movie theatres that the hardliners have a problem with. I mean, God forbid genders should mix.

But Saudis really love their movies, so even though it's banned in the Kingdom, Saudis will actually travel hundreds of miles to neighbouring Dubai, Bahrain and Kuwait to watch films there. They will even buy a plane ticket and fly there, spending around 1 billion per annum in Bahrain alone. How's that for idiocy or hypocrisy or whatever you want to call it. That's 1 billion that's not being spent in Saudi Arabia.

Apparently 85% of moviegoers in Bahrain are Saudis.

I remember reading an article several years ago (no longer online), that stated that some of those who were most fiercely opposed to opening cinemas in Saudi Arabia because it "contributes to the rise of violence, encourages promiscuity and moral depravity," could be found sitting in the front row of cinemas in Bahrain.  And according to that article by Al-Riyadh,  one of those bearded Saudi critics, that same conservative who complained about the negative influence of films, loves the violent ones. He was about to watch Saw VI, "..because there are many sequences of endless violence and blood!"

There is change in the wind, however. Saudis might not have to drive to another country to watch the latest film.  According to Al Arabiya:

An investor has officially requested a license from the Saudi General Commission of Audiovisual Media to establish cinemas in the country, a local business website reported Tuesday.

The commission did not object to the idea in principle, and asked the investor to submit a study of the planned project, Maaal reported. [snip]

If the commission thinks the investment is feasible, it could ask higher authorities to clear the way for movie theaters nationwide, sources reportedly said.

“The commission is communicating with the investor about this issue. It’s in itself a big step forward,” Mutlaq al-Buqami, editor-in-chief at Maaal, told Al Arabiya News.

Of course, it probably will take another three decades before it actually happens, but there is hope for the Saudi cinemaphiles.

Iranian Men Post Bizarre Photos In Response To Women Posting Photos Without Hijab

It didn't take long for  Muslim males to respond to those brave Iranian women who have been posting photos of themselves hijab-free on the Facebook page My Stealthy Freedom.  With 374 thousand likes, the page was created by Masih Alinejad, an Iranian journalist living in London, to "give voice" to thousands of women in that country who have no choice in the matter.

Some media sites, including Al Arabiya and Telegraph UK, are claiming that there's been a conservative backlash, and that men have created their own Men's Stealthy Freedom Facebook page where they too are posting photos of themselves. In their case, many of the photos posted are of silly men wearing various makeshift head coverings.

Along with other truly bizarre pics including men picking their noses (who knows what that represents), and a man licking whipped cream off the face of another male. Uhuh. Doesn't look too conservative to me.

Whether it's a mockery of the women or not, and whether the men are conservative or not is difficult to determine, since the page is not in English.  Those pics have to be seen, though.

In protest, there have been several small rallies by those conservatives happy with the compulsory hijab laws.  And conservatives have created another Facebook page: Real Freedom of Iranian Women. Those enlightened souls have no problem demanding freedom to wear hijab, but condemn those who would like the choice not to.  They posted the following:

Members write that the hijab is freeing and women should not be given the right to choose whether to wear it. Others posting on the page say they should be compulsory to protect women's modesty.

In one post, the word rape has been written over the photos of three prominent Iranian journalist who work abroad and appear unveiled in their broadcasts. It was accompanied with a message warning that women who do not wear the hijab are more likely to get raped.

Charming.

The Decadent, Hedonistic Lives Of The Sultan Of Brunei And His Bro Prince Jefri

The Sultan of Brunei, who just instituted uber strict Sharia law for his country- which then prompted a celebrity boycott of his L.A. hotels- is a prime example of "do as I say, not as I do."

As per Sharia, the citizens of Brunei (both Muslim and infidels alike) may be subject to fines, jail time, public lashings, amputation of limbs and death by stoning for the following:

.. absence from Friday prayer services; becoming pregnant out of wedlock; wearing indecent clothing, and for women, refusal to wear a hijab; employing a non-Muslim baby sitter; the use of the word “Allah” by Christians and the discussion of faith by any non-Muslims; publicly eating or drinking during Ramadan; theft; homosexuality; and adultery.

Granted it's the New York Post, but there's an interesting article about just how un-Islamic the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and his brother Prince Jefri are.

One religious scholar, Reza Aslan, claims the turn towards Sharia has nothing to do with "religious devotion, since the Sultan himself is in violation of every single rule of Sharia law you could possibly imagine.”

Decadent, hedonists, are just some of the words used to describe the two men.

Indeed, the Sultan and his equally decadent brother, Prince Jefri, were dubbed “constant companions in hedonism” in 2011 by Vanity Fair. He lives in a palace with 1,788 rooms, 257 bathrooms, five swimming pools, a mosque, a banquet hall that holds 5,000 people and a 110-car garage. When he turned 50, the Sultan built a stadium, invited Michael Jackson to perform in it and paid him $17 million for three concerts.

Jefri, 59, maintains a separate pleasure palace and once owned a 152-foot yacht called Tits; he named its tenders Nipple 1 and Nipple 2, and could never understand why others often found that juvenile and crass. Here and abroad, the brothers are infamous for their sex parties and their harems composed mainly of underage girls."

Typically hypocritical.

Female 'Marriage Mediator" Gets Jail And Lashes In Saudi Arabia

"Temporary marriages" are popular in the Muslim world as a means of legitimizing sexual relations between men and women in the eyes of Allah. It really is nothing more than a form of prostitution, but heck, they don't see it that way. Most, anyway. In Saudi Arabia, however, a foreign woman who was allowing meetings between men and woman on her premises, and claiming she was arranging misya marriages, has been handed a 6 month jail sentence, 50 lashes, and will be deported when released. She was charged with "immoral and unlawful activities and acting as a pimp."

She wasn't the only one arrested and sentenced to jail time.

Three other women were arrested at her house were also sentenced. One of the women was found to be in possession of hashish.

All three were sentenced to four months in prison and 50 lashes because they agreed to meet men for marriage without the presence of their male guardians. According to Saudi law, women are not allowed to marry without a legal marriage contract and they also cannot meet strange men even for discussing a marriage relationship.

They were caught after someone tipped off the police about the woman's little business venture.

A police officer called the woman mediator and claimed that he wanted to marry two women at the same time.

The mediator allegedly told him that she could accommodate his request, even if he wanted three women at the same time.

She then gave him the number of another marriage mediator who asked him to visit her house to see the women.

When he arrived at her house, she brought four women for him to choose from and told him that their dowry was between SR15,000 and SR20,000. Her commission was SR1,000 for each woman. The officer then signaled a security team waiting outside and they arrested everyone.

One of the women was married and was a legal resident, while the other women were illegals.

It's hard to tell if they were arrested simply because there was gender mixing, which is illegal in backwards Saudi Arabia, because temporary marriages are sanctioned under Islam, or whether she really was acting as a pimp for a bunch of prostitutes.

Joke of the day: Bangladeshi Rapist Claims Deportation Violates His Human Rights

So 47-year-old Mohammed Hasan gets a 16-year-old British girl drunk on vodka, rapes her in his car while she's unconscious, serves 3 years of a six-year jail sentence, and now the U.K. apparently wants to deport him. But Mo says deporting him is a violation of his human rights, because he doesn't want to go. You see he likes his "peaceful life," and his wife refuses to accompany her rapist hubby to Bangladesh. Besides, she wants to raise the kids in England.

The tribunal in Bradford heard Hasan, of Scarborough, North Yorks, raped the girl in his car before dumping her “like a piece of meat” on the pavement. The tribunal judgement was reserved.

Violation of his human rights?
