From up north in Canuckistan, here's Blazing Cat Fur's contribution to the "Everybody Draw Mohammad Day", day.
The Seattle artist, Molly Hill, who originally came up with the idea after the whole South Park Mohammad bear fiasco (whereby the producers received death threats and Comedy Central censored the whole thing), eventually backed out after receiving threats herself. She even tried to persuade the creators of a Facebook page entitled, you guessed it "Everybody Draw Mohammad Day", to cease and desist. But it's still going strong with a good 67,800 plus fans, and an unofficial blog to boot. It has even spawned an anti-EDMD day, Facebook page, with some 28,000 plus fans, and you can guess where the majority are from. Pakistan has also blocked access to Facebook until May 31st.
Whether it's disrespectful or not is beside the point. The point is that those of us in the free world believe in freedom of speech and no-one is going to tell us what we can or cannot criticize, mock etc. If you don't like something you see- turn it off, turn the page, walk out or ignore it. In a civilized world you do NOT threaten people with death.
So, here's BCF's video compilation of cartoons, along with a catchy tune to commemorate "Everybody Draw Mohammad Day."
If you think you might be offended, then don't watch. It's as simple as that.
