10th Anniversary Of 9/11- We Must Never Forget

1

It's hard to believe that ten years have passed since that infamous day on September 11, 2001, when the world changed forever.  It also amazes me that there are those who would like the rest of us to forget that 3,000 plus people were murdered in the name of religion.  Worse yet, there are the fools who still believe in the ludicrous notion that it was actually some major, nefarious government conspiracy that was at the root of 9/11.  Sadly, I personally know both of these types, seemingly intelligent people who obviously have no mental capacity to discern truth from fiction.

The past few days I  noticed people posting certain comments and linking to articles on FaceBook that took me completely by surprise.  I realize that most of my colleagues in the entertainment industry are die-hard liberals, but I had no clue that some of them were  delusional '9/11 Truthers'; 'friends' who actually believe that 'al Qaeda' is a "fictional enemy created by the Bush administration  to justify the 'war on terror'."  And they're not alone. There are many who share those paranoiac beliefs.   Those same people believe Osama Bin Laden was killed years ago, and that his death was kept secret for various reasons that make no sense. In fact, none of their theories make sense, but still people are drawn towards the conspiracy conceit.

As for those who would like to 'forget', I remind them of the George Santayana quote:
 "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it".
There are certain historical events that should never be forgotten, and 9/11 happens to be one of those. When we forget, we become complacent, when we become complacent, history can and will repeat itself.  Never forget!

Islam can be destroyed non-violently.

"truthexcavator"? Haven't you noticed yet that any intertubes site that has "truth" in its name is usually full of excrement and conspiracy theories?

Sad people, really.

There will always be people who want to believe it was a government conspiracy.. it gives them somewhere to belong.. we shouldn't forget the suffering of the people on that day and the the daily sacrifice of our troops!

@trencherbone: some interesting insights, but not sure they won't go without a fight. The more you try to marginalize them (MoToons etc) the more they will dig in their heels for the long haul. We shall see.

@ Snoopy: yes, very sad, especially how they have hijacked the word and the true meaning. It still baffles my mind that there are actually people who believe that crock.And there are many of them!

@George: Indeed.
