A school in Switzerland has caved to the religious demands of two Muslim male students who refuse to shake hands with their female teachers.
What next, demands for segregated classrooms?

Male Muslim students at a school in northern Switzerland will no longer have to shake hands with their female teachers, following a ruling that has caused an uproar across the country. A school in the northern municipality of Therwil, in the canton of Basel, reached the controversial decision after two male students, aged 14 and 15, complained that the Swiss custom of shaking hands with the teacher is counter to their religious beliefs if the teacher is a woman. They argued that Islam does not permit physical contact with a person of the opposite sex, with the exception of certain immediate family members. The local Therwil council did not support the school's decision, but said it "will not intervene as [it] is the responsibility of the school to set the rules," spokeswoman Monika Wyss said. The decision triggered an outcry across Switzerland, with the Justice Minister Simonetta Sommaruga insisting on Swiss public television Monday that "shaking hands is part of our culture".
Think Islamic shariah isn't already creeping into the United States, think again. It's alive and well and operating in Texas.

An Islamic Tribunal using Sharia law in Texas has been confirmed by Breitbart Texas. The tribunal is operating as a non-profit organization in Dallas. One of the attorneys for the tribunal said participation and acceptance of the tribunal’s decisions are “voluntary.” Breitbart Texas spoke with one of the “judges,” Dr. Taher El-badawi. He said the tribunal operates under Sharia law as a form of “non-binding dispute resolution.” El-badawi said their organization is “a tribunal, not arbitration.” A tribunal is defined by Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary as “a court or forum of justice.” The four Islamic attorneys call themselves “judges” not “arbitrators.” El-badawi said the tribunal follows Sharia law to resolve civil disputes in family and business matters. He said they also resolve workplace disputes. In matters of divorce, El-badawi said that “while participation in the tribunal is voluntary, a married couple cannot be considered divorced by the Islamic community unless it is granted by the tribunal.” He compared their divorce, known as “Talaq,” as something similar to the Catholic practice of annulment in that the church does not recognize civil divorce proceedings as ending a marriage.
[snip] El-badawi said they follow Texas family law when it comes to child support, visitation, and custody. He said that in most cases, custody of children is awarded to the mother. Breitbart Texas asked what happens when there is a conflict between Sharia law and Texas law. El-badawi said most of the time, the laws are in agreement. When pushed further he admitted that, “we follow Sharia law.” However, he explained, “If the parties are not satisfied with the tribunal’s decision, they do not have to accept it and they can take the matter to Texas civil courts.” He did not say what the social ramifications of rejecting the “judge’s” decision would be. The website for the Islamic Tribunal states, “The courts of the United States of America are costly and consist of ineffective lawyers. Discontent with the legal system leads many Muslims in America to postpone justice in this world and opt for an audience on the Day of Judgment.” It goes on to state, “It is with this issue that Muslims here in America are obligated to find a way to solve conflicts and disputes according to the principles of Islamic Law and its legal heritage of fairness and justice in a manner that is reasonable and cost effective.”
Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, has decided that all students Muslims and non-Muslims alike will get to listen to the Friday call to prayer. They'll get that pleasure commencing this Friday.
Members of the Duke Muslim Students Association will chant the call, known as adhan or azan, from the Duke Chapel bell tower each Friday at 1 p.m. The call to prayer will last about three minutes and be “moderately amplified,” officials said in a statement Tuesday.
“The adhan is the call to prayer that brings Muslims back to their purpose in life, which is to worship God, and serves as a reminder to serve our brothers and sisters in humanity,” said Imam Adeel Zeb, Muslim chaplain at Duke. “The collective Muslim community is truly grateful and excited about Duke’s intentionality toward religious and cultural diversity.”

More proof that Turkey is hiking the road to Islamization: there has been a huge increase in Islamic religious schooling. This has secular Turks very upset, considering the country was once proudly secular, until President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's Islamist AK party came into power.
Almost a million students are enrolled in “imam hatip” schools this year, up from just 65,000 in 2002 when Erdogan’s Islamist-rooted AK Party first came to power, he told the opening of one of the schools in Ankara last month. The schools teach boys and girls separately, and give around 13 hours a week of Islamic instruction on top of the regular curriculum, including study of Arabic, the Quran and the life of the Prophet Mohammad. “When there is no such thing as religious culture and moral education, serious social problems such as drug addiction and racism fill the gap,” Erdogan told a symposium on drug policy and public health earlier this year. But in the drive to create more imam hatip places, parts of schools have been requisitioned, prompting protests from parents who want secular education for their children. “We are against the governance of education by religious rules,” said Ilknur Birol, spokeswoman for the “Don’t Touch My School” initiative, an umbrella grouping for angry parents. “This system is not rooted in youth with a forward-looking perspective enlightened by science, but in a generation that values obedience.”
Filiz Gurlu, a parent at the Kadir Rezan Has school in Istanbul where two buildings were converted to imam hatip facilities, said primary students were now cramped in a single building.
“The library, laboratory, computer and music rooms were in the confiscated part, so the kids don’t have access anymore."
Radical Muslim hate preacher Anjem Choudary, who was arrested and then released on bail from police custody after a counter-terroism sweep in the UK, is now back on London streets spewing his hate.
Even though he's on bail, district judge Howard Riddle decided that Choudary and 6 others who were arrested can go back to preaching because it was in violation of religious freedom. Apparently, as part of their bail conditions, they were not allowed to set up their little 'dawah' (Islamic proselytizing) stalls. That's now changed. Riddle said:
“The dawah stalls are a significant part of the current investigation."
“However, it is accepted that the dawah stall has an ostensible purpose to spread the word of Islam and to proselytise. Religious freedom is of considerable significance.”
The others that were arrested:
Choudary and his brother Yazandi were arrested on 25 September along with Shakil Chapra, Siddartha Dhar, Abdul Muhid, Mohammed Rahman, Mohammed Shamsuddin and Anthony Small.
Anthony Small is a Muslim convert and former boxer with his own YouTube channel. He has also calls for Muslims to take over England.
Dhar supposedly took off for Syria with his wife and 4 kids.
Choudary claims he never stopped preaching anyway.
“It’s a nonsense anyway. I never stopped my dawah, I never stopped doing my work online and in cafes. Street dawah is just one way of doing this."
“It’s an abuse of process. It’s an abuse of what you would call human rights, they should remove the other conditions. I’ve been raided four or five times and they’ve never found anything – I’ve got less now than I had then.”
Muslim radicals do not deserve the right to freedom of speech or religion.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is now conducting 'cultural awareness training" to companies like Home Depot. Yes, indeed, they provided training to a Home Depot in Dearborn, Michigan recently. Granted, Dearborn, Michigan could be considered the Muslim capital of the United States, housing the largest Mosque in North America, but why have they not assimilated into American culture? Should other religions follow suit? How about Hindu or Buddhist awareness sessions.

The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations yesterday provided cultural awareness training to employees at a Home Depot store in Dearborn, Mich. CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid and CAIR-MI Safe Spaces Coordinator Warda Kalim discussed issues relating to customer interactions and modesty in Islam and highlighted religious accommodations concerns of Muslim employees. CAIR-MI has provided similar trainings in the past to other Home Depot locations in Southeastern Michigan. "We welcome such opportunities to engage Home Depot and other business establishments to better serve their Muslim customers and accommodate the cultural competency of their Muslim employees," said CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid. CAIR has helped resolve a number of similar cases involving prayer in the workplace and offers a booklet, called "An Employer's Guide to Islamic Religious Practices," to help corporate managers gain a better understanding of Islam and Muslims.
There is even a link to that detailed employer's guide to Islamic religious practices, which includes information on religious holidays, food, clothing, demeanour , and prayer. It's worth a peek. They're demanding a bucket load of concessions. And it's only going to get worse.
At a conference of so-called 'moderate Muslims' the moderator asks the audience of males if they are "normal Muslims" not extremists. They all raise their hands. He then asks how many agree that men and women should "sit separate." They all raise their hands. He then asks how many agree that the punishments set forth in the Quran and Sunnah, like death by stoning, death for homosexuality etc, is "the best punishment for humankind," and that it should be applied throughout the world. All raise their hands. He then asks if they are all radical extremists. They laugh.
In other words, they do not think differently than extremists, and this should worry us.
Looks like Australia caved on a plan to segregate visiting Muslim women- donning burqas and niqabs- at Parliament House. It was proposed, citing obvious security concerns, but too many people balked, and so, boom, it's gone. They were to be seated in glassed enclosures where rambunctious school kids usually sit during parliament visits.
One would think the women would be happy to be separated from potential contact with males, after all, they are segregated in their mosques, why should they care. This really isn't very different from the segregation they already encounter, but human rights and race discrimination activists thought differently.
Race discrimination commissioner Tim Soutphommasane told Fairfax Media the original ruling meant Muslim women were being treated differently to non-Muslim women.
"No-one should be treated like a second-class citizen, not least in the parliament,” he said.
“I have yet to see any expert opinion or analysis to date which indicates that the burqa or the niqab represents an additional or special security threat.”
What? They want to be treated differently than non-Muslim women, that's why they wear burqas and niqabs in a Western society in the first place. And if they're wearing burqas, they're already being treated as second-class citizens, so what's the difference. And burqas and niqabs are most definitely a security threat. Lot's of space under that garb to hide any manner of explosives or weapons.
But it wasn't just activists who were opposed.
..Labor opposition frontbencher Tony Burke welcomed the backdown but said the initial decision should never have been made.
“What possessed them to think that segregation was a good idea?” he said.
“Segregation was previously introduced, apparently, with no security advice attached to it and no security reason attached to it.”
Apparently, they have now changed the rules.
The Department of Parliamentary Services said in a statement that the rules had been changed and all visitors must now “temporarily remove any coverings” that prevent the recognition of facial features.
“This will enable security staff to identify anyone who may have been banned from entering the building or who may be known to be a security risk,” it said.
“Once this process has taken place visitors are free to move about the public spaces of the building, including all chamber galleries, with facial coverings in place”.
A Commerce City, California, Muslim woman is complaining about not being allowed to swim with her kids at a public pool because she was wearing full Islamic dress- which included a head scarf, and a long dress over pants and a top. But it's pool policy. Certain attire is not allowed by the Commerce City Recreation Center because of safety concerns, including street clothes. There's even a brochure that illustrates what is and isn't allowed in the pool.
But Sabah Ali was having none of it. The tearful Ali said about the ban:
“Why do I have to be half naked to swim? To enjoy my time with my kids?" “I want to have the same rights as every citizen.”
“I told them I would take off the long dress, if that was their concern, and that I had clothes on underneath." “But they said if they let me, everyone would ask, ‘Why did you let them and not us?'”
What part of 'no street clothes allowed' does she not understand? If certain Muslims are unwilling to conform, then maybe they should build pools for their overly modest selves.
The spokeswoman for the city, Michelle Halsted, said:
“The city routinely turns away people who don’t have appropriate swimwear — jean shorts, sport shorts, not wearing swim diapers." “We turn all those individuals away because the No. 1 focus for us is safety.”
Let's see how long it takes for CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) to get involved, and have those rules change to accomodate Muslims.
"Sharia police" in Germany. More radicals roaming the streets of European cities. This time in Wuppertal- a small city in North Rhine-Westphalia.
A group of radical young Islamists has recently caused concern on the streets of a German city. The "Sharia police" have been observed trying to deter young Muslims from doing things like drinking or gambling.
Police in Wuppertal are seeking ways to stop the group of men who have been seen patrolling the area around the western city's main train station on several evenings recently. The bearded fundamentalists have declared the sleazy nightlife area of the city of 340,000 to be a "Sharia Controlled Zone."
The young men, who are followers of Salafism, a puritanical form of Islam, walked around the area in orange traffic safety vests with the words "Sharia police" written in English on the back.
They have also been observed distributing leaflets urging people to refrain from alcohol, drugs, gambling, attending concerts, watching pornography or visiting prostitutes.
But the government is striking back. Apparently, the 33-year-old who is behind the patrols, though he claims they're not actually patrols, is Muslim convert, ex-firefighter Sven Lau aka Abu Adam. More on that here.
Apparently, the most popular name for males in Oslo, Norway is ..... Mohammad. And Jørgen Ouren of Statistics Norway is very excited about that.
And for the last four years, Mohammad surpassed Jan and Per in popularity.
As of 2013, 8.4% of the population in Oslo is Muslim, or 2.4% of the Norwegian population. There are over 150,000 Muslims now living in Norway, most of them from Iraq, Morocco, Pakistan and Somalia.
A decade ago, who would have thought that department stores in the West would be selling hijabs as part of their back-to-school uniform sales. U.K. department store John Lewis is doing just that.
John Lewis, which is due to sell the Islamic headscarf in its London and Liverpool stores, said it was responding to school demands. “We provide uniforms for 350 schools across the country,” a spokesperson for John Lewis said. “The school informs us of the items they want us to sell as part of their uniform list,” he added. The store, which signed contracts with two schools, will sell a hijab for approximately $15 (£9). John Lewis won the contract to supply uniforms to the Islamia Girls’ School in north-west London and Belvedere Academy in Liverpool.
Referring to the Trojan Horse plot to Islamize British public schools, ex-boxer-turned-radical Muslim Anthony Small, aka Abdul-Haqq, claims they don't want to just take over British schools, they want to take over "your whole country."
The dolt is part of Anjem Choudary's gang Al-Muhajiroun/Islam4UK.

Like Choudary, he's probably on the dole. But if the Brits aren't careful, those supremacist goals will likely come to fruition.
There's an alleged plot by Muslim extremists to take over public schools in Birmingham, England, and even some Muslim parents are concerned.
The plot came to light after a document was anonymously sent to teaching unions and the Birmingham City Council that shared tactics on how to take over school leadership, and how the Islamists had already managed to do that at four of the targeted schools. Former staff and parents have been complaining about anti-Western teachings, segregation of boys and girls, and banning of sex education at many Birmingham schools. Non-Muslim staff have also complained about being bullied.
So as a result of what is being called Operation Trojan Horse, the former head of the Metropolitan Police's anti-terror unit has been chosen to investigate the alleged plot to Islamize public schools. There are now 25 possibly targeted schools, up from 15. The P.C. folk have naturally balked at the appointment of Clarke, claiming it could send the wrong message to the Muslim community, but when an al-Qaeda-linked preacher is being praised during class, then those schools deserve to be investigated.
There have been at least 200 complaints since the plot to force out head teachers was made public. Mind you, these are secular, public schools.
A Muslim group purchased a century-old Catholic church in Syracuse, NY and are converting it into a mosque/learning center. What has some people upset is the decision to remove 6 crosses from the roof of the historic Gothic church. Now I understand why Muslims wouldn't want crosses on their mosque, but not for the reason given by the center's director, Yusuf Soule. He claims that Islam forbids the worship of symbols and idols, hence the need for removal; as if the Muslim congregants would be actually worshiping a cross. But if this is the case, then why is it okay to have a crescent moon perched on top of the spires of most mosques? Is that not a symbol?
A city board on Thursday gave a Muslim group the go-ahead to remove six crosses from the roof and spires of a century-old former Catholic church so the now-vacant Gothic structure can be used as a mosque. More than 200 people had signed an online petition calling on the Syracuse Landmark Preservation Board to deny an application by North Side Learning Center, the church's new owner, to remove the crosses and build a six-foot chain-link fence. Before the vote to allow the church alterations, Chairman Don Radke said the board cannot interfere with a decision that involves religious freedom.
British students are up in arms about a policy that Universities UK (UUK) is planning on implementing which would allow for gender segregation under certain circumstances in Brit colleges.
So people were out demonstrating yesterday, on what happened to be Human Rights Day. Quite fitting, methinks.
The universities want the option to allow gender segregation during speaking lectures from 'outside' speakers, if those 'ultra-orthodox' speakers happen to request it. 'Ultra-orthodox', of course, is just a p.c. reference to Islamists, because they're pretty much the only ones who would. In fact, University College London had a bit of a controversy back in March, 2013 when a debate between atheist Lawrence Krauss and Hamza Andreas Tzortzis, organized by the Islamic Education and Research Academy (iERA), ended up with Krauss walking out when he noticed the lecture hall had been gender segregated. The organization was banned from any future events, but obviously other universities think it's a grand idea- to separate men and women.
Obviously there are some who think it's a grand idea. Camillia Khan, Head of Communications at FOSIS (Federation of Student Islamic Societies), had this to say about gender segregation:
The term 'segregation' denotes discrimination and isolation - and this couldn't be further from the general reality. There needs to be a linguistic shift in the discourse - but more importantly, the shift must be an ideological one which accepts that there exist differences based on sound spirituality, and these need to be embraced, led by brave and nuanced organisations such as Universities UK. Male and female seating is a simple religious manifestation that has been established for multiple millennia and is one that is still actively implemented today by many churches, synagogues, mosques and other religious communities. Taking away the basic freedom to choose a room arrangement from mature and democratically elected student groups such as Islamic societies will only seek to alienate Muslim students from social engagement by denying their right to religious freedom.
No, they don't need to be embraced. There is a major difference between public education institutions and religious institutions. If you want to sit in the back of the mosque (or synagogue) by all means do so, we have no say over what happens on private religious property. But universities, forget it. If they want segregation go to Al Azhar in Egypt or universities in Iran or Saudi Arabia where that's common practice, those universities will be happy to accommodate them. They should feel right at home. Stay out of Western, secular universities.
Apparently, the St Paul, Minnesota YMCA (with the help of the St. Paul police department) is accommodating the large Somali Muslim population, and making the swimming pools Shariah compliant. According to the Star Tribune the YMCA has created a swim group for Somali girls from 5-17:
According to the report, during the hourlong swim practice, all other swimmers are cleared out of the pool. The men’s locker room is locked and female life guards are brought in. “I think this is just a great opportunity for them to learn basic skills that we take for granted,” said Sgt. Jennifer O’Donnell, who has worked with the Somali community regularly during her time with the department.
The mother of Rayan Dhamuke (12) believes they "have to have privacy, and the poor little thing had to swim at 5 a.m. during the summer because, God forbid, any male should see her swimming.
Allen West puts it succinctly:
You can only imagine the outcry from the ACLU and atheist organizations if a Christian group were advocating for “private” swim time. I thought our country struck down the concept of “separate but equal?”
Why would Somalis come to America if they wanted to maintain their discriminatory cultural and religious beliefs?
