Call For Conservative Playwrights- Philly Republican Theatre Fest In November

Any conservative writers out there? Would-be writers? Here's your chance to possibly get your work produced at a Republican Theatre Festival in November, 2012. The fest is being produced by Philadelphia director/producer Cara Blouin of Forearmed Productions, November 12th through 14th, at the Plays and Players Theatre in Philly.

Cara emailed me through this blog in search of conservative voices. As I have oft mentioned, there is a dearth of people in the entertainment industry willing to make their politics known, especially in the theatre world. So, here's your chance. The more the merrier. And good luck! You have a little over a month to create your short masterpiece, either a one-act or a 10 minute play.  Any questions, see the contact info below.
Call for Submissions - Republican Theater Festival, Philadelphia, PA

Forearmed Productions seeks one act plays for the Republican Theater Festival, November 2012, which aims to create a forum for a perspective not usually heard in theater.

Forearmed will select 3 new one-act or 10 minute plays by living playwrights that represent ideas related to social or fiscal conservatism, issues considered part of the Republican Party, Libertarian or Tea Party platforms, or concerns of people of faith. Plays which have the ultimate aim of criticizing or satirizing conservative ideas will not be considered.

Deadline for submission is August 30th. The plays will be dramaturged, developed and rehearsed for a showing on November 12th, 13th and 14th.

Contact forearmed@gmail.com with scripts or questions.

Martin Luther King Day, 2012

"Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity"
Martin Luther King, Jr., registered Republican

It's rather amusing to hear liberals claim MLK as one of their own. But he was a Republican not a Democrat.

Frances Rice, of NBRA wrote this about MLK.

MLK FOUGHT FOR CIVIL RIGHTS AND AGAINST DEMOCRATS

By Frances Rice

As we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., let us pause to reflect on who he was and why his struggle to obtain civil rights for black Americans was necessary.

First, Dr. King was a Republican until the day he died because he knew that the Republican Party, from its founding in 1854 as the anti-slavery party, championed freedom and civil rights for blacks. For details on the history of civil rights, see the NBRA Civil Rights Newsletter posted on the NBRA's website.

Second, the nemesis of Dr. King's valiant and historic campaign to end discrimination and gain equality for blacks was the Democratic Party, the party of slavery, segregation and the Ku Klux Klan. Led by the former Senator and Klansman Robert Byrd, Democrats launched a despicable crusade to smear and undermine Dr. King. This relentless disparagement of Dr. King resulted in his being physically assaulted and ultimately to his tragic death.

When Dr. King left Memphis, Tennessee in March of 1968 after riots broke out where a teenager was killed, Byrd called Dr. King a "trouble-maker" who starts trouble, but runs like a coward after trouble is ignited. A few weeks later, Dr. King returned to Memphis and was assassinated on April 4, 1968.

Prior to his death, Democrats bombed Dr. King's home several times. The scurrilous efforts by the Democrats to harm Dr. King included spreading rumors that he was a Communist and accusing him of being a womanizer and a plagiarist.

An egregious act against Dr. King occurred on October 10, 1963. Democrat President John F. Kennedy authorized his brother, Democrat Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, to wiretap Dr. King's telephone using the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Wiretaps were placed by the FBI on Dr. King's telephones in his home and office. The FBI also bugged Dr. King's hotel rooms when he traveled around the country.

The trigger for this unsavory wiretapping was apparently Dr. Kings' criticism of President Kennedy for ignoring civil rights issues, according to the author David Garrow in his book, "Bearing the Cross". As was pointed out in the book by Wayne Perryman "Whites, Blacks and Racist Democrats", Kennedy voted against the 1957 Civil Rights Act while he was a senator. After Kennedy became president, he was opposed to the 1963 March on Washington by Dr. King.

The justification given by the Kennedy Administration publicly for wiretapping Dr. King was that two of Dr. King's associates, including David Levinson, had ended their association with the Communist Party in order to work undercover and influence Dr. King. However, after years of continuous and extensive wiretapping, the FBI found no direct links of Dr. King to the Communist Party.

Kennedy's disdain for blacks further manifested itself when the King family sought help with getting Dr. King out of a Birmingham jail. Kennedy's civil rights advisor, Harris Wofford who was a personal friend of Dr. King, made a telephone call on behalf of Kennedy without Kennedy's knowledge. That call resulted in Dr. King's release. Kennedy was angry about the call because he feared he would lose the Southern vote. History shows, though, that the call by Wofford eventually worked in Kennedy's favor and is the primary reason so many blacks today wrongly venerate Kennedy.

The unrelenting efforts by Democrats to tarnish Dr. King's reputation continued for years after his death. To his credit, Republican President Ronald Reagan ignored the Democrats' smear campaign and made Dr. King's birthday a holiday.

Today, while professing to revere Dr. King, Democrats are still attempting to sully his image by claiming that he was a socialist. In reality, Dr. King was a Christian, guided by his faith and Republican Party principles as he struggled to gain equality for blacks. He did not embrace the type of socialist agenda that is promoted by the Democratic Party today, which includes fostering dependency on government handouts that trap blacks in generational poverty.

Syrian protesters in Kafrandel miss George 'Dubya' Bush and the Republicans

Like many here and around the world, the Syrians in Kafrandel miss George W. Bush and the Republicans. Their president Bashar al-Assad, ranked number 4 in Parade Magazine's 2011 top 10 worst dictators, has been systematically killing thousands of his people (including allegations of rape, torture and murder of children), as he struggles to hang on to his power.

However, I'm not quite sure what they would have expected Bush to do, other than scare the bejesus out of the bad guys with his so-called cowboy tactics. He was criticized for his cowboy diplomacy, but in many ways it worked.

Bill Whittle, conservative editor, screenwriter and director, has put together a great little 'Voter's Guide to Republicans' for all those liberals out there who are convinced we are all evil Greedy, Fascist, Racist pigs.

He sets the record straight with historical facts.  But, as one commenter on YouTube put it, liberals won't have the stomach or attention span to watch this.

Ron Paul Groupies As Clueless As Ron Paul

I just spent precious time (that I will sadly never regain) responding to a Ron Paul devotee who also happens to be a mega asshole.  Unrighteousfury, who is obviously  as enamored of Ron Paul as Chris *tingles* Matthews was of Barack Obama (back in the day before his recent disillusionment), stumbled upon my blog post about clueless Ron Paul's naive belief that we can reach out and befriend the Iranians. Like Paul, unrighteousfury is under the delusional assumption that we can actually engage Iranians through "offering friendship and open trade", as if a little kumbaya and trading some rice and kebabs for some snicker bars will make things all better.

He accuses me in an uber-long, yawn-inducing post on his blog of being a "dolt", a "dumb ass woman" and for not doing my research. Ironically, the man obviously has not done his research because he has absolutely no clue about Islam, let alone the inner workings of ultra religious conservatives like Ahmadinejad and the Iranian Mullahs.  He, like Paul, believes that Iran's nuclear ambitions are overblown. Why? because there's no actual proof.  Unrighteousfury, lets call him UF,  apparently has no idea about the concept of 'taqiya', nor does he have any clue why Ahmadinejad and the Mullahs' belief in the "12th Imam" might be reason enough to conclude their nuclear ambitions are far from innocent.

He can be forgiven for the woeful ignorance he shares with all the other Ron Paul groupies out there, who for some reason are drawn to a wacky former doctor-turned-politician, but UF is a piece of work. This is what he says about women in the piece dedicated to me:

I swear we need to repeal women’s voting rights. They keep writing this crap and I keep debunking it. Women should just stop blogging about politics all together. Stick with what you know. Here are some helpful examples of things you can occupy your time with that are far more productive than your silly ass opinion about politics.

But checking out the rest of his blog, it's quite obvious the man is a misogynist. In an incredibly insensitive post about women and rape, he says all women claim to have been raped and says this:

Look, to all you dumb women out there: We know that rape is a terrible thing and a tragedy. By lying about it over and over again, people literally lose interest in it even being a big deal.

Well, UF, I have never been raped nor do I have any friends who were, so your claims are bogus, as is the whole piece you wrote about it. But if you peruse most of UF's posts, you will find that they are replete with references to his 'manliness', which begs the question- why doth the man protest so much?

Ron Paul groupies are certainly a bizarre bunch, unable to respond to criticism of their guru in a civil manner. But we encountered that back in 2008, during his last bid for Presidency. I'll be glad when this is all over.
