U.C Irvine Student Union Bans "Offensive" U.S. Flag From "Inclusive" Lobby

A U.C. Irvine student association decided that flags were offensive -especially the U.S. flag- was offensive, so out they go.

The Associated Students of University of California, Irvine (ASUCI) voted Tuesday to remove all flags, including American flags, from an inclusive space on campus because of their offensive nature.

The bill, R50-70, was authored by Social Ecology Representative Matthew Guevara, and accuses all flags, especially, the American flag, of being “symbols of patriotism or weapons for nationalism.”

"[F]lags construct paradigms of conformity and sets [sic] homogenized standards for others to obtain which in this country typically are idolized as freedom, equality, and democracY." Tweet This

“[F]lags construct paradigms of conformity and sets [sic] homogenized standards for others to obtain which in this country typically are idolized as freedom, equality, and democracy,” the bill reads.

The legislation argues that flags may be interpreted differently; the American flag, for example, can represent “American exceptionalism and superiority,” as well as oppression.

“[T]he American flag has been flown in instances of colonialism and imperialism,” the bill continues, arguing that “symbolism has negative and positive aspects that are interpreted differently by individuals.”

The anti-flag hanging bill adds that free speech, such as flags in inclusive spaces, can be interpreted as hate speech.

“[F]reedom of speech, in a space that aims to be as inclusive as possible[,] can be interpreted as hate speech,” the bill reads.

“Let it be resolved that ASUCI make every effort to make the Associated Students main lobby space as inclusive as possible.”

“Let it further be resolved that no flag, of any nation, may be hanged on the walls of the Associate Student main lobby space.”

“Let it be further be resolved that if a decorative item is in the Associate student lobby space and issues arise, the solution will be to remove the item if there is considerable request to do so.
Flags are hate speech? Six people voted for the ban, four voted against, and two abstained.

This from a U.S. University, in the United States of America.

Illegals Who Did Not Pay Back Taxes Can Claim Back-Refunds

What?  Illegal immigrants who have not paid taxes will be eligible to apply for back-refunds?  Apparently so!

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen told Congress on Wednesday that even illegal immigrants who didn’t pay taxes will be able to claim back-refunds once they get Social Security numbers under President Obama’s temporary deportation amnesty.

[snip]

On Wednesday, he said even illegal immigrants who didn’t pay taxes will be able to apply for back-credits once they get Social Security numbers.

The EITC is a refundable tax credit, which means those who don’t have any tax liability can still get money back from the government.

“Under the new program, if you get a Social Security number and you work, you’ll be eligible to apply for the Earned Income Tax Credit,” Mr. Koskinen said.

He said that would apply even “if you did not file” taxes, as long as the illegal immigrant could demonstrate having worked off-the-books during those years.

That expands the universe of people eligible for the tax credit by millions. He said only about 700,000 illegal immigrants currently work and pay taxes using an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, but as many as 4 million illegal immigrants could get a stay of deportation and work permits under the temporary amnesty, which would mean they would be eligible to claim back-refunds if they worked those years.
This is outrageous!

The whole thing here.

Compare George W. Bush With Hitler- DC Teacher Asks 6th Grade Students

So a teacher at McKinley Middle School in Washington DC gave his class an assignment: compare and contrast Hitler with George W. Bush with Venn diagrams.

It seems the class was studying war and peace, and the unidentified instructor at McKinley Middle School sent the class home to pore over the histories of "both men who abused their powers."
Parents got wind of it, and the district issued a quick mea culpa, the Washington Post reports. "The teacher deeply regrets this mistake, and any suggestion to malign the presidency or make any comparison in this egregious way," says a spokeswoman for DC schools. The teacher, she adds, acknowledges "extremely poor judgment" and will apologize to his students.

Now, imagine if this teacher had asked them to compare and contrast Hitler with Barack Obama? What do you think would have happened to the teacher.  Pink-slipped. Yeah, I know he's a sitting president, but still. An apology would not have sufficed.

TN Student Suspended For Telling Classmate "Bless You" After Sneeze

Tennessee high school student Kendra Turner claims she was suspended for telling a classmate "bless you" after they sneezed. According to the Dyer County High School student certain phrases and words have been banned by her computer teacher-  "stupid", "my bad", "hang out", and the offending phrase "bless you" are verboten.

Believing her consitutionatl rights were violated, she took to social media to share what happened. Apparently, the teacher told her "We do not do Godly speaking in my class." As far as I know she left God out of it. Simply saying "bless you" shouldn't be offensive, unless you're a liberal or atheist or both.

"I stood up for my belief and said I have a constitutional right to speak about My God!!" the teen wrote on Facebook.
"So if any other teacher wants to get on to me for sticking up for my religion then go right ahead [because] in the end I will win [because] I'm doing what God wants me to do!!!"

Though they won't get into it, the school administration says it has nothing to do with religion.

"We can't discuss discipline issues because of right to privacy of students, but I can say there are two sides to every story," Assistant Principal Lynn Garner told the Dyersburg State Gazette.
"Sometimes people spin things and turn them to make them seem one way, but I cannot discuss anything specific in order to protect the child."
Fox news said the teacher claims the girl shouted "bless you" and disrupted class. She might have, who knows, but bottom line, what right does a teacher have to tell someone what they can or can not say?

More details here.

Jon Stewart Gets It Wrong On Gaza

Jon Stewart launched a verbal attack against Israel during his July 14 show regarding the Israel/Gaza conflict. He lambastes Israel for notifying the Gazans about an imminent air strike by exploding a small mortar on the roof of some building, while they use a high tech smartphone alert system. Stewart makes it sound as if this is the only warning that Israelis give Gazan citizens about an impending attack. But that's a blatant lie, or willful ignorance.  Israelis do warn the Palestinians- with leaflets, phone calls and text messages. In fact, Israel just warned the Gazans to evacuate, and Hamas told them to ignore the IDF's warning, even encouraging them to act as human shields, which is something they have a penchant for. The small roof attack is simply a last resort when the other warning systems are ignored.

Then Stewart snarkily asks where are the Gazans supposed to evacuate to, talking about Gaza as if it's a few square blocks, and a shithole.  Let's see how terrible Gaza really is.  This video was filmed by a Palestinian (so you don't think it's Israeli propaganda), titled My Beautiful City- Gaza Palestine. Doesn't look too shabby to me- lots of fresh food and goods in bustling outdoor markets, horseback riding, swimming in the ocean, it even shows one young horseback rider with a fancy Canon DSLR camera. Oh, and they used to have a water park with luxury restaurants, until Hamas burned it down. And here's Gaza's shopping mall.  There are plenty of places to evacuate to Jon. If you would just do some research before you open your mouth.

MidEastTruth has compiled a video rebuttal to Stewart's misinformation, including snippets of an interview back in 2009 with British Commander Richard Kemp who led troops in Afghanistan in 2003 and who claims that in the history of warfare there is no army "that has made more efforts to reduce civilian casualties, and deaths of innocent people than the IDF is doing today in Gaza."  The video then shows a compilation of photos showing the bright, prosperous side of Gaza living. Then there are snippets of an interview with the Palestinian envoy to the UNHRC, who talks about the indiscriminate bombing of Israel by Hamas as a "crime against humanity" because those rockets are targeting civilians, unlike the IDF's retaliatory attacks that are specifically aimed at Hamas targets. And unlike the IDF, there are no warnings from Hamas.

MSNBC'S Hart-Perry Apologizes For Poking Fun At Mitt Romney's Black Grandchild

So the Romney's have an adopted black grandchild, Kieran, and Mitt and Ann had a lovely portrait photographed surrounded by all their grandkids.

In very bad taste, MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry and her co-panelists chose to make Kieran the punch-line of a segment on the show. Video here.

Melissa starts off with:

"Everybody loves a baby picture, and this was one that really a lot of people had emotions about this baby picture this year." "This is the Romney family. "And, of course, there on Gov. Romney's knee is his adopted grandson, who is an African-American, adopted African-American child, Kieran Romney."
You can then hear Pia Glenn in the background singing:

"One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just isn't the same."
The others start laughing and then Glenn then pipes in:

"And that little baby, front and center, would be the one"
The pot-shots continue, and comedian Dean Obeidallah comes in with his oh-so-funny:

"I think this picture is great. It really sums up the diversity of the Republican party, the RNC. At the convention, they find the one black person."

How's that for racism. And using a baby boy as political fodder is shameful. Even CNN was outraged, and Harris-Perry has since apologized. Big deal.

Kieran was adopted by Mitt's son Ben and daughter-in-law Andelynne.

Imagine had the same thing happened on a FOX show.

Harris-Perry was the stupid woman who claimed that the Boston Bomber's Muslim faith was irrelevant. Right.

Kissing 'Girlfriend's' Hand Gets 6-Year-Old Colorado Boy Suspension and 'Sexual Harassment Label

This is for the good grief file.

6 year-old Hunter Yelton is a cute young kid from Colorado who has a little girlfriend. As young lads are wont to do, he gave his little girlfriend an innocent kiss on her hand at school one day. It seems some fellow young 'uns tattled to the music teacher at a Cañon City school and Hunter landed a two day suspension for 'sexual harrassment'. That's right, sexual harassment!  The school planned on keeping that label on his school record- forever- but have since dropped the sexual harassment angle to 'misconduct', but still.  The little girl likes Hunter, so why would this qualify as sexual harassment? And a kiss on the hand?  Yes, he kissed her on the cheek on another occasion, but so what.

Hunter explains what happened:

"It was during class, yeah. We were doing reading group and I leaned over and kissed her on the hand. That's what happened."
Now the boy thinks he's done something wrong, and that a kiss on the hand is something terrible:

"They sent me to the office, fair and square. I did something wrong and I feel sorry."
Where are they, Saudi Arabia?

Hunter's mama, Jennifer Saunders, was furious that her son was labeled a sexual harasser, and that he's now questioning her about sex when those kinds of things should be far from his mind at that age.

"This is taking it to an extreme that doesn't need to be met with a 6-year-old. Now my son is asking questions -- 'what is sex, Mommy?' That should not ever be said, sex. Not in a sentence with a 6-year-old."
If he groped her in inappropriate places, or if she told him to stop and he didn't, sure, go ahead and punish the kid, but that wasn't the case.

What is happening to this country?!

According to this psychologist kissing is normal behaviour for kids that age, and that the suspension could have a negative impact on the child.

You can read more on Hunter, with video footage of the cutie here.

La Senator Refuses To Address Her Claims Of Republican Racism Over Obamacare

Democratic Senator Karen Carter Peterson from Louisiana claimed, on the Senate floor, that Republican opposition to Obamacare is because Barack Obama is black. But when a local TV station reporter tried to get her to talk about her accusations of racism, she refused to speak.

Sen. Elbert Guillory, who also happens to be black and a Democrat and also opposes Obamacare, said of Peterson's comments:

"some decks only have one card in it, and that's the race card. And I'm so sick of hearing it..."
I think we all are. But good for Guillory.

No Tacos Or Tequila For Gringo Northwestern Students On Cinco De Mayo

Here's one for the 'what next' file.

Northwestern University students were told how to celebrate Cinco De Mayo this year: no tacos,  tequila or sombreros, because it “offends, marginalizes, and isolates many of our friends, classmates, and community members, and casts our entire community in poor light.”

That demand came from several sources including an Hispanic student organization.

A Latino student group, Alianza, and the school’s Associated Student Government (ASG) sent a letter to students warning them to be “respectful” in celebrating Cinco de Mayo, an occasion in which Mexico commemorates its defeat of French forces on May 5, 1862, in the Battle of Puebla. In the U.S. it is seen as a celebration of Mexican pride and freedom.

Alianza held a Cinco de Mayo celebration Saturday by roasting marshmallows.

“Unfortunately, instead of partaking in these cultural celebrations and enriching their Northwestern experiences, some of our peers choose to throw ‘Mexican-themed’ parties that are culturally insensitive, offensive, and detrimental to the Northwestern community,” the letter said.
However, international students at the Illinois University who actually hail from Mexico did not share those same sentiments.

“I’d like to say that I proudly embrace my tacos, tequila and sombreros,” wrote Ruben Antonio Marcos Bours, a Northwestern student, in a statement. “To me, they are a key part of my childhood, growing up in Monterrey, Mexico.”

“People think Alianza is representing Mexican culture on campus,” student Garcia Romero said. “I see them as representing U.S. hispanic culture. Very few of them have actually been to Mexico. (Mexican international students) don’t have an official student group, but that doesn’t mean we are represented by Alianza.”

Interesting to note, two of the writers of the email that was sent to Northwestern students are not Mexican, but you can bet they're liberal.

One would think that those who are ethnically diverse would appreciate sharing their cultural heritage with others. I guess not. Maybe we should just ban Cinco De Mayo altogether, so we don't offend the Chicanos.

Bill Maher: "Liberal Bullsh*t" Comparing Islamic Violence To Christianity

The only thing that liberal Bill Maher can be lauded for:  his views on radical Islam. He knows the danger and isn't afraid to discuss it.

On his HBO's "Real Time", Maher gets into it with fellow liberal CSU-San Bernardino professor Brian Levin- of the Center for Study of Hate and Extremism.

Since Levin studies "crazy people who do terrible things", Maher wondered how people like the eldest Boston terrorist bomber could hold two  contradictory mindsets, citing his Internet profile that stated his world view as Islam, and his personal priorities as career and money.  He then mentioned the 9/11 hijackers who visited strip clubs the night before they boarded the plane. Cutting him off, Levin launched into a diatribe about it not being just an Islamic issue.  Maher then called Levin's contention that it's not only Muslims who are hypocritical and do "wacky things"- "liberal bullshit."

“You know what, yeah, yeah,” Maher said. “You know what — that’s liberal bullshit right there … they’re not as dangerous. I mean there’s only one faith, for example, that kills you or wants to kill you if you draw a bad cartoon of the prophet. There’s only one faith that kills you or wants to kill you if you renounce the faith. An ex-Muslim is a very dangerous thing. Talk to Salman Rushdie after the show about Christian versus Islam. So you know, I’m just saying let’s keep it real.”
In comparing religions, Maher asked could they do "The Book of Islam" -referring to the play "The Book of Mormon" currently running on Broadway. We all know the answer to that question, Levin does not.

Bill Maher was the clear winner in that debate.

Here's the full interview.

LGBT Community Center To Allow Talk By Anti-Israel Writer

Most gays (at least the leftists) get it totally wrong when it comes to Israel and Palestine. They're the first to bemoan the lot of the Palestinian people- criticizing Israel in the process- and yet it's definitely not a reciprocated sentiment. The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community doesn't seem at all fazed that in some Muslim countries being homosexual can get them jailed or even sentenced to death. Iran hangs them. Gaza jails them.  Israel, on the other hand, is very progressive when it comes to gays, but that doesn't matter, they've chosen the side that would rather see them dead or jailed.

The following is part of the Penal Code in Gaza.

Criminal Code Ordinance of 1936 54 Section 152 Unnatural offences “(2) Anyone who: (a) commits sexual intercourse with another person against the order of nature, or (b) commits sexual intercourse with an animal, or (c) permits or allows the above mentioned acts is considered to have committed a felony punishable by imprisonment for a term of ten years.”
In 2012, Tel Aviv, Israel, was voted best gay city.

But that doesn't seem to matter to gay writer and professor Sarah Schulman. In fact, she's as anti-Israel as you can get and a leading proponent of "pinkwashing":

...a deliberate strategy to conceal the continuing violations of Palestinians’ human rights behind an image of modernity signified by Israeli gay life. Aeyal Gross, a professor of law at Tel Aviv University, argues that “gay rights have essentially become a public-relations tool,” even though “conservative and especially religious politicians remain fiercely homophobic.”

Camera.org has an interesting article discussing the whole issue of  those in the LGBT community who put their anti-Israel bias above gay rights in Palestine, and how an  LGBT Community center in New York reversed its moratorium an all things Israel to allow Schulman to talk about her latest anti-Israel book.

Bloggers Retaliate- Post Addresses of Staff Of Paper That Published Gun Owners Map

The latest issue to polarize this country is the right to bear arms. Gun control has always been a bone of contention for the American people, but more so since the recent spate of mass murders left movie-goers in Aurora and 20 young ones in Sandy Hook dead. Yes, it's an issue that has many people angered, on both sides, but what New York's The Journal News did by publishing an interactive map along with the names AND addresses of gun owners in Westchester and Rockland counties was unconscionable.  The newspaper has effectively made every single resident in both counties a target for criminals: they now know which houses they can steal from to add to their arsenal of weapons, and the ones which will make easy targets with no guns for protection.

But back to the Journal News: piss off enough people and someone is going to retaliate, which is what a former Connecticut attorney and blogger Christopher Fountain did. Fountain published on his blog the names, addresses and phone numbers of all 50 employees of The Journal news including the publisher  Janet Hasson, including a Google Maps shot of her house:

I don’t know whether the Journal’s publisher Janet Hasson is a permit holder herself, but here’s how to find her to ask..

Another blogger, Robert Cox, published an interactive Google Map of his own pinpointing where some of the employees live, along with some email addresses and other personal information.

Whether you believe two wrongs don't make a right, as one commenter on Fountain's blog pointed out, this is what happens when you push the envelope too far to further your agenda. The News Journal should never have published those names and addresses. Now all these people, including the News Journal staff, will be potential targets for all the criminals and crazies in the world.

Obama Should "Work Like A Third World Dictator" and Jail Opponents- Says Harry Belafonte

Lefty Harry Belafonte thinks that Barack Obama needs to act like third world dictators and jail opponents. He could have been joking, but given his penchant for left-wing leaders, like his BFF Hugo Chavez, there could well be truth in the comment he made to Al Sharpton on MSNBC.

“What fascinates me is that in the face of millions of Americans expressing their desire, the whole political establishment defining its game, that there should be this lingering infestation of really corrupt people, who’re still trying to dismantle the wishes of the people, the mandate that has been given to Barack Obama, and I don’t know what more they want. The only thing left for Barack Obama to do is to work like a third world dictator and put all these people in jail. They’re violating the American desire!”
Ever heard of the Arab Spring, Harry? They got rid of their dictators, although they foolishly replaced them with something worse. We wouldn't make that mistake.

"Useful Idiots For Palestine" Video by Pat Condell

Proud (and happy) atheist Pat Condell socks it to the leftist tools who support Hamas and Palestine in this video he taped last year. As always, he does not hold back his contempt for the idiots who have no clue what actually is going on over there.

PB & J Sandwich- Banned At 2 Schools

The poor PB & J (peanut butter and jelly) has been getting a raw deal recently. In the past week the much maligned sandwich has made the news- twice. Once for its racist connotation (really), and the other for its ability to send some people into severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), even if they aren't the ones eating it.

Let's see how it came to be considered racist:

A lunchtime staple of students for years, the peanut butter and jelly sandwich could be considered one of the more popular items found in the sack lunches of school children.
But in conjunction with recent equity training in local Portland schools, one principal is raising questions about the mention of the sandwich, arguing it has broader implications about race, the Portland Tribune reports.
The sandwich was reportedly mentioned in a lesson plan last year. Verenice Gutierrez from the Harvey Scott K-8 School used it as an example of a subtle form of racism in language, according to the report.
“What about Somali or Hispanic students, who might not eat sandwiches?” Gutierrez said, according to the Tribune. “Another way would be to say: ‘Americans eat peanut butter and jelly, do you have anything like that?’ Let them tell you. Maybe they eat torta. Or pita.”

 Read the rest here.

Then it was banned at an Arkansas school for a totally different reason, and some people are hopping mad about that.  Apparently, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich was snatched from a hungry child's hand because it might cause an allergic reaction in other students sitting nearby. Well, maybe not quite snatched- and the kid was given other options from the school cafeteria- but same thing. The school has a "nut" ban in place, that the parents obviously had no clue about, so the kid was sent home with a note explaining the ban.

A Facebook page called "School Nut Ban Discussion" was created by the parents who were at odds with the school's policy.
In a Friday post on the FB page, one parent alleged that the Arkansas school created a "no-peanut-policy" on its own and only shared the rule verbally with a few parents at a meeting.
The post read:
"The Nut Ban is an Administrative Policy, not a School Board Policy. It is not in the Student Handbook, nor in the School Board Policies Handbook. Parents that were unable to attend Viola's Open House did not hear the verbal made at the Kindergarten meeting. I can speak for the packet sent home with one 1st grade class that there was no information about the Nut Ban."
Peanut butter and jelly sandwich bans are nothing new in many schools across America. However, this recent case gives rise to concerns parents have over nut allergies and school intervention.

As per usual, you have the parents who are happy about the decision, and others who are not.  Supposedly the only thing some children with autism will eat is peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.  Who knew.

Read the rest of the story here.

I can understand the concern of the parents of kids with allergies, but banning the mention of the word because it's racist?  Good grief.  What next?

Banning Words: State Dept and NYC Dept Of Education Want To Ban Words and Phrases That Are "Racist"

Every once in a while someone gets a p.c. bug up their proverbial posterior and decides certain words or phrases need to be banned for some asinine reason or other. The New York City Department of Education thinks it would be a great idea to do away with certain words used in standardized tests like, dinosaur, birthday and dancing; in fact there are 50 or so similar and totally innocuous words they want to ban because they might somehow make a kid or two feel bad.

The word “dinosaur” made the hit list because dinosaurs suggest evolution which creationists might not like, WCBS 880′s Marla Diamond reported. “Halloween” is targeted because it suggests paganism; a “birthday” might not be happy to all because it isn’t celebrated by Jehovah’s Witnesses.
You won't believe some of the others they would like removed.

And then you have Scotland Yard that banned the word "blacklist" because it's racist.

Now the U.S. State Department is calling for a ban on certain words and phrases it deems racist, like "holding down the fort", because according to the Department's Chief Diversity Officer, John M. Robinson, "holding down the fort" is actually:

.. the linguistic equivalent of scalping a Cherokee? According to Robinson, the phrase dates back to American soldiers on the western frontier who wanted to “hold down” all that land they stole.
Well, who knew.

And here's more words and phrases Robinson would like to see eliminated:

“Handicap” and “rule of thumb” are two more figures of speech that Robinson, in his wisdom, has decreed offensive. The latter, Robinson says, refers to the width of a stick a man could once use to legally beat his wife.

But, get this, according to the Daily Caller Robinson hasn't a clue if any of the "etymologies" are based on truth.
“Much has been written about whether the etymologies below are true or merely folklore, but this isn’t about their historical validity,” Robinson writes. “[I]nstead, it is an opportunity to remember that our choice of wording affects our professional environment.”
Okay.

Some other phrases that he feels should be verboten:

“going Dutch” is a reference to Netherlanders’ apparently well-known parsimoniousness, and that your widowed neighbor, sweet old Mrs. Rasmussen, cries every time she hears you use it?

Pretty soon there will be no words or phrases left in the English language that are non-offensible. Maybe we should all just grunt, but then someone would come along and ban grunting because it's offensive to pigs.

This p.c. b.s. really needs to stop.

Fired! Liberal Chik-fil-A Bully Loses Job As CFO

Adam  Smith, who mercilessly harassed a Chik-fil-A employee (and stupidly taped himself doing so)  has been fired from his job as CFO and Treasurer of Vante, a medical equipment company in Tucson, Arizona.

Vante regrets the unfortunate events that transpired yesterday in Tucson between our former CFO/Treasurer Adam Smith and an employee at Chick-fil-A. Effective immediately, Mr. Smith is no longer an employee of our company.

The actions of Mr. Smith do not reflect our corporate values in any manner. Vante is an equal opportunity company with a diverse workforce, which holds diverse opinions. We respect the right of our employees and all Americans to hold and express their personal opinions, however, we also expect our company officers to behave in a manner commensurate with their position and in a respectful fashion that conveys these values of civility with others.

We hope that the general population does not hold Mr. Smith’s actions against Vante and its employees.

Also an adjunct professor at Eller College in Tucson, it looks like he's no longer working there either.

Oops.

He could have made his 'statement' without being nasty and disparaging.

Karma's a b$#tch, as they say.

Pompous Liberal Lays Into Chik-fil-A Employee- Video

Your typical pompous liberal ass, Adam M. Smith, tries to give a Chik-fil-A employee Rachel a lesson in morality.
"I don't know how you live with yourself and work here. I don't understand it.  This is a horrible corporation, with horrible values."

Well, Adam, this is still a free country, and right or wrong everyone is entitled to his/her own set of
values. And in case you didn't know, every corporation donates to causes and organizations that probably half of its employees oppose. I guess that means that those people should quit their jobs too? I assume that's what you wanted poor Rachel to do. And in case you didn't know, it's not that easy getting a job in today's economy.  Maybe you'd like to support Rachel and all the other Chik-fil-A employees you think should quit their jobs?   My unions donate to liberal causes, guess I should quit my unions? And as far as fast food corporations go, most are into selling franchises.  Maybe, just maybe, those owners don't donate to the same organizations that the corporate heads do.

It's not nice to pick on Chik-fil-A employees. If you have a beef with Dan Cathy, the president- who was the one who sounded off on gay marriage- send him all your hate-filled invective. For all you know one of those employees you are harassing could be gay. And there are gay people working at Chik-fil-As.

And, believe it or not, there are gays who don't support the boycott, just like there are gays who couldn't care less about the whole gay marriage issue.

Apparently, Adam realized his stupidity and pulled his video from YouTube, and then removed his LinkedIn profile. Smart move.  Thankfully it was saved by some bloggers since it's a  great demonstration on how nasty liberals can get.

Rachel is to be commended for her composure.

UPDATE:  The video has no been removed, but here's an interview on Fox where Smith talks about his apology. There are snippets of his harassment here.

Mass. Dem Gov Patrick Vetoes Bill To Ban Buying Guns, Tattoos, Manicures With Food Stamp Card

Massachusetts's current DEMOCRATIC Governor Deval Patrick has just vetoed a bill to prevent welfare fraud in his state.  It has to do with their EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) card that welfare recipients are supposed to use for food. Their food stamp monthly allotment is electronically wired into their EBT account and they use the card (like a debit card) to purchase food. The operative word is "food". But do they use it for food? No. Many use it to buy anything from guns to tattoos to those nifty bejeweled acrylic nails. Well, I'm not sure about the acrylic nails, but I assume they do since the bill wanted to ban manicures, as well. Oh, and let's not forget porn. All of this, of course, courtesy of the taxpayer.

Instead of welcoming a bill that would clean up the welfare system, Patrick blasted those politicos behind the ban for "political grandstanding". Attempting to get people to use money designated for FOOD, to use for, uh, food is political grandstanding?

Republican Senator Robert Hedlund fired back:

“A lot of people in the Legislature, and a lot of taxpayers for that matter, believe there are a lot of problems with our EBT system. Some of us have worked hard to try to address those problems. Some of us actually take our jobs seriously, and to be accused of political grandstanding, I think it’s irresponsible and immature of the governor to speak that way.”

And from Republican House Minority Leader Brad Jones:

“He’s accusing us of political grandstanding. Well, I think he’s pandering to a political clientele who are in support of him and he wants to maintain that support. ... It would seem to indicate to me this isn’t something he wants to go forward.”

Ironically, the bill was cobbled together by both Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate, and "spearheaded" by Democratic House Speaker Robert DeLeo. DeLeo had nothing to say about Patrick's veto, but Democratic State Rep Russell Holmes still has faith.

“It is still something that’s very much a priority for the Legislature. Clearly we’ve gotten this far."

This is the odd thing:

His veto rejected bans on the use of EBT cards for tattoos, guns, porn, body piercings, jewelry, fines and bail. However, he left standing bans of the use of EBT cards in tattoo parlors, gun shops, casinos, cruise ships, strip clubs and adult entertainment centers, saying the independent EBT Card Commission had ruled out the idea of banning specific products “for reasons of feasibility, enforceability (and) cost.” The proposed ban on EBT use in jewelry stores, nail salons and rental centers was vetoed, however, leaving no EBT ban on their products.
