I have always been proud of the inherent freedoms we enjoy in this country- to question, to criticize, to voice our opinions without any fear of negative repercussions. People have been free to criticize and mock presidents and politicians, to condemn government actions (right or wrong) with the express knowledge they wouldn't wind up beheaded or rotting in some jail for decades-
up until now.
In this amazing democracy we call the United States of America, I never thought I would feel fear, particularly from my government, but come Tuesday, if Barack Hussein Obama wins, that's exactly what I will feel. Fear. Why? Because Obama shows little or no tolerance for questioning or criticism, and although not yet president, wields such power and influence, he has already found ways of silencing the voices of opposition.
Look at Joe, The Plumber. He had the audacity to question Obama about the whole "spreading the wealth" ideology, and what happened to him? Obama media minions went after Joe, a private citizen, like a pack of vultures on road kill, and found ways of discrediting him. Had Joe questioned McCain, he would have remained in relative obscurity.
And then we have Barbara West of WFTV, Orlando, FL. The Obama campaign cut off any further interviews with the TV station, after West asked Joe Biden some probing questions they didn't happen to like, including the "spreading the wealth" Marxist connection. Laura K. McGinnis, Obama's Central Florida communications director, stated "This cancellation is non-negotiable, and further opportunities for your station to interview with this campaign are unlikely, at best for the duration of the remaining days until the election." Asinine liberals at democraticunderground are calling for West to be fired, and for people to complain to the station's advertisers. What happened to free speech?! Anyone call for Katie Couric to be fired for her unfair Palin 'gotcha' interview? Doubt it.
And what about Obama's Truth Squads in Missouri? Yes, you heard it Truth Squads! Apparently, Obama has enlisted law enforcement and state prosecutors to make sure no-one smears Obama. The Truth Squad, according to a campaign press release, will “respond quickly, forcefully, and aggressively when John McCain or his allies launch inaccurate claims or character attacks about Barack Obama, or when they distort Barack Obama’s record or plans.” Problem is, who defines what is the truth and what is a lie, considering Obama has lied and about so many things, including his affiliations with Reverend Wright, and other unsavory characters. Governor Matt Blunt said "The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election. Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”
Yes, McCain/Palin have their own truth squads but they are not enlisting law enforcement to intimidate those who might dare criticize them. They established a Palin Truth Squad after hordes of media descended upon Alaskan soil to sift through garbage to find some dirt on Palin, and the smear campaigns began.
Obama's actions smack of Big Brother. What will he do as president?

Good post here. I'm glad I can call Gov. Blunt my governor - not only will he leave office with a budget surplus, he's also still going after these rogue voter "groups" as he has for most of his political career. ACORN and others pose a distinct threat to the democratic process, and way to go Gov. Blunt for standing up to these thugs.
It's been quite an eye-opener, this campaign. Aren't these the same people bitching about the Bush administration's stifling of free speech? The loss of civil rights? And, their friends in the press willingly go right along with them.
Great post, Incog...this is horrid. You don't get more unAmerican than Obama and his henchmen. Boy, I've heard of the Chicago machine, but what they've done to Joe the Plumber is positively FRIGHTENING. And now I wonder what they'll do to Tito Munoz, the guy H&C had on tonight on FOX who spoke even MORE eloquently to that elitist snob Colmes.
What they did to the Plumber, I believe, is resonating with normal Americans. You add Obama's wanting open union voting (Talk about CHICAGO BULLYING!?), his having worked with ACORN, his having said "we're neighbors" about Ayers and then all the truth coming out......and other things (!)and you've got trouble.
I never thought I'd see anything like this in America...God be with us.
JENNISON: Thanks! At least you have someone there who has the guts to call them on it. Few and far between, and I think people will be far less likely to buck the system with a democratic majority.
KAREN: Yes indeed.. but there has always been a liberal double standard.. do as I say..
Z: It truly scares me, Z. Turns out the person who sicked the dogs on Joe the Plumber was an Ohio Stateswoman who is an Obama supporter. Had to be. Hopefully Tito has nothing to hide, so they won't find anything on him. Rush was talking about how we should really be upset about the fact that the went after a citizen.
I hope people start to see through him.. but who knows. Keep praying!
"Had Joe questioned McCain, he would have remained in relative obscurityHad Joe questioned McCain, he would have remained in relative obscurity."
What a total load of rubbish - it was the McCain campaign that brought Joe intot the limelight.
McCain referred to him continually throughout the presidential debate and has paraded him around on stage in fornt of thousands.
And look at what the last eight years have done to your basic rights of freedom.
You must be either, A) Stupid, or B)Sticking your head in the sand.
Thank God the rest of yuor country don't feel the same as way you and have the sense to condemn this old "maverick" to the garbage can.
And as regards the Truth Squads:
"And despite GOP complaints that the mere presence of prosecutors on the "Truth Squad" could intimidate Obama's critics, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and his running mate Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin have used prosecutors on their "Truth Squads" too, prompting no complaints from the GOP at the time."
From the same link.
B.O. now enlists a Truth Squad with which to attack those who would "distort Barack Obama’s record or plans." So is it a "distortion" to point out that in March of last year, the Obama campaign stated that he would "aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election"-- a pledge, of profound implications for the campaign season and for America, which he has so flagrantly broken for all the world to see? As you point out, on top of all else the man is an unconscionable liar.
i will join in saying this was a great post inocg!!!... could not of been better written!! like your examples though you may not be able to keep your critiques up much longer either!!!
TROIKA: "...it was the McCain campaign that brought Joe intot the limelight."
Yawn.. So? what point are you trying to feebly make here, mate? Just because McCain mentioned him does not mean a private citizen should be investigated for merely questioning a candidate? had it been the reverse, Joe would have been left alone.
the last 8 years? what freedoms have been taken away? You're just being silly.
and the 50% voting for Obama (and those like you) are both A and B.
Uh... can you not read..? I mention that yes McCain Palin had their own truth squads in my post.
ZACK: yup... outspending McCain by over 50%. Obscene.
PATJ: Probably not, if the great one wins. snort.
