Egypt To Ban Full-Face Veil

While the U.S. would be too PC to ever propose banning the niqab, Egypt is poised to do just that. The full-face veil will not be allowed in public places and government buildings.

MP Amna Nosseir, professor of comparative jurisprudence at Al-Azhar University, who has backed the ban, said that wearing the veil is not a requirement of Islam and in fact has non-Islamic origins. She has argued that it is a Jewish tradition which appeared in the Arabian Peninsula prior to Islam and that a variety of Quran passages contradict its use. Instead, she has advocated that the Quran calls for modest clothing and covered hair, but does not require facial covering.
Apparently, there is already a ban in the medical school and teaching hospitals affiliated with Cairo University, along with the academic staff on campus.

Good on them.

Egyptian Doctor- Palestinian Suffering A Result Of Palestinian Leadership

Egyptian Islamic thinker and reformer Dr Tawfik Hamid claims Palestinian suffering is a result of Palestinian leadership- most notably Hamas, not Israel.  And it's up to Palestinians to change that.

BDS (Boycott Israel) toads, take note,

He also happens to be a former jihadist.

Egypt Bans Exodus: Gods and Kings Movie

Egypt has now joined Morocco in banning the just released movie Exodus: Gods and Kings. The reason? Historical inaccuracies, including the fact the movie claims 'Moses and the Jews built the pyramids'. And it's Zionist, to boot, according to Gaber Asfour, Egypt's culture minister. The Ridley Scott epic historical drama stars Christian Bale as Moses who helped 600,000 Israelite slaves escape the clutches of Egyptian Pharoah Ramses.

“This totally contradicts proven historical facts,” Asfour said.

“It is a Zionist film,” he said. “It gives a Zionist view of history and contains historical inaccuracies and that’s why we have decided to ban it.”

The ban was decided by a committee comprising the head of the supreme council for culture, Mohammed Afifi, the head of the censorship committee and two history professors, Asfour said.
And the parting of the sea scene in this movie- not cool, says Afifi.

Afifi said he took issue with the scene showing the parting of the Red Sea in which Moses – a prophet revered by Jews, Christians and Muslims alike – is seen holding a “sword” like a warrior, instead of a “stick”. Furthermore, he said, the parting of the Red Sea was explained in the movie as a “tidal phenomenon” rather than a divine miracle.
The rest here.

Egyptian Muslim Writer To Be Tried For Insulting Islam

Muslim Egyptian writer Fatima Naoot, 50,  criticized the ritual sacrifice of animals that occurs during Eid Al-Adha every year, and now she's in hot water for "insulting Islam."   Back in October she posted on Facebook:

"Happy massacre." " Massacre committed by men over the past 10 centuries and followed by men each year with a smile." "Annual massacre observed because of a nightmare of one (prophet) about his son." "Although the nightmare has passed for the prophet and his son, each year helpless animals pay with their lives the price of this sacred nightmare."
Eid Al-Adha (aka Feast of the Sacrifice) marks the end of the annual Hajj (trek) to Mecca, and commemorates Abraham's willingness to sacrifice his son at God's behest. Muslims usually sacrifice a cow, or a sheep, goat, camel or buffalo. As many as 10 million animals are slaughtered on Eid,

Naoot, who is Muslim, deleted her posts from Facebook after controversy erupted about them. But a judicial official said on Saturday that she admitted during questioning that she had written them.

The 50-year-old columnist denied she had any intention to insult Islam, the official told AFP, adding she had also been charged with "making fun of the right to sacrifice".

"It is the price paid by those who carry torches of enlightenment at every age," Naoot wrote on Friday after having been informed of her trial which is due to start on Jan. 28.

She said that in October she had posted messages on Facebook to congratulate Muslims for Eid Al-Adha but "urged them to respect the offering and not humiliate it by flooding the ground with animal blood".
One of her "friends" must have ratted her out.

In Egypt, you're not allowed to insult and of the three major state-sanctioned religions: Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

Those who have been convicted have received up to 6 months of jail time.

Islamic State Has Established A "Sinai Caliphate"

According to Saffad.com, the Islamic State is now on the doorstep of both Israel and Egypt and has established the "Sinai Caliphate"- calling itself the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant and Egypt (ISILE).  In a statement by ISILE, they have demanded that tribes and other terrorists in the Sinai  ambush and attack the Egyptian Army and police.

More on this on Alegmeiner.

Sadly all the anti-Israel, anti-Semites of the world- and there are plenty who are not even Muslim- will not care one whit that Israel is being threatened by an even deadlier force than Hamas/

Men Can Spy On Future Wife While Bathing, Per Egyptian Fatwa

Here's the latest wacky fatwa out of Egypt. Salafist preacher Usama al-Qawsi says it's okay to spy on your future wife while she's bathing.

In a video, Salafist preacher Usama al-Qawsi said that the man can “hide" while watching the woman he “intends to marry” bathe.

“If you were really honest and wanted to marry that woman, and you were able to hide and watch her in secret, see the things that she wouldn’t usually let you see before marrying her, then it is acceptable as long as your intentions are pure,” Qawsi said in a video.

“One of the Prophet’s companions did that. Some disapproved and told him: ‘How do you do that when you’re one of the Prophet’s companions?’ The Prophet answered: ‘If you can see something that would make you want to marry her then go ahead and do it.’”
That fatwa was struck down by Egyptian religious authorities.

Hahaha. Oh those dirty Salafists.

Egyptian Cleric- U.S. Trying To Divide Islamic World Per Evil Bernard Lewis Plan

More Egyptian anti-Semitism.

Egyptian cleric Mustafa al-Aqsari (can't find him on google, though the name might have been misspelled)  talks about the Jews being eternal enemies of the Muslims. "Judgement day will not come until the Muslims fight the Jews."  War with the Jews has been raging from the time of Mohammed, and will continue until Judgement day.

He then likens Bernard Lewis to a modern day Huyayy Ibn Akhtab, a Jewish leader in pre-Islamic Arabia who opposed Mohammed, and was eventually beheaded.

Brit born Lewis is a scholar of Orientalism and Islamic Studies, who also happens to be a Jew and a naturalized U.S. citizen. He was also an advisor to both Presidents George W and George H Bush.

Al-Aqsari claims that Lewis "combines all that is evil."  Ideologically a Zionist, a Jew and an American citizen. And that he is responsible for "the plan to divide the Islamic world into mini-states," that the U.S. is implementing.

There's an interesting article on American Thinker critical of Lewis for his belief that Islam is compatible with a democratic world.

Note, he talks about all Jews.

Arab Voice Of Donald Duck Proud He Was Fired For Anti-Israel Tweets

The Arabic voice of Donald Duck used to be Egyptian Wael Mansour until he started tweeting anti-Israel posts which resulted in a big fat pink slip. And he's dang proud of the fact that he was fired. He posted that on Twitter too.

“Disney decided I am no longer the official voice of Donald Duck in its middle-east dubbed cartoons because of an anti-Zionism tweet. Proud!”

He told al-Arabiya:

“I am proud of what happened, I do not regret it at all as it was exactly how I felt at that time.”

“I am against Zionism and Israel but I love the Jews,” He highlighted several times during the conversation clarifying that he even got text messages from Jews telling him that they respected his opinion.

He loves the Jews?  Doubt that very much, but he does respect and understand Disney's decision to fire him.
“Now, I understand what they come from especially that it is an International organization which cares about its image.”
The Twitter post that led to the firing was:

“I truly wish #Israel is demolished, I hate Zionism, I have so much hate inside me with every single child they murder or land they seize!”
Yes we are free to say whatever we like, but we will suffer the consequences for that freedom.

Acid Attack On Unveiled Egyptian Woman - Young Activist Discusses

Here's an interesting article by a young Egyptian woman, Reem Abdel-Razek, regarding Egypt's horrendous problem with sexual harassment. Apparently what they are now doing is throwing acid on girls from behind, so she is initially unaware of what happened to her. It happened to the sister of a friend of hers in Cairo, in broad daylight.

Esraa [Mohamed] was walking in her own neighborhood at 3 p.m. when she realized she was being followed by a well-dressed, respectable looking stranger. He said, “I am not harassing you but don’t forget to wipe off your pants.”

She suddenly began to feel a burning pain in her backside and rushed into a cafe to see what was wrong. It was then that she realized she couldn’t remove her pants and took a cab home. By that time the pain was so excruciating that she almost fainted; her buttocks and the back of her thighs had been burned by acid that had eaten into her flesh. The doctor who examined her said she had second and third-degree burns, with cell necrosis in some areas. The diagnosis was “chemical burn by an unidentified corrosive.”

According to Abdel-Razek, this has also happened to others, most have just been too embarrassed to tell anyone.

Esraa does not wear a veil, and they think this might have been the reason she was attacked, at least that's what some Facebook users told her was the reason.

Abdel-Razek also talks about how sexual harassment was virtually unheard of in the 50s and 60s, during the time when very few women wore the veil. The harassment, she believes, has escalated (out of control) with the growing influence of Islamists.

The role of Islamist propaganda in promoting the acceptance of violence against women often gets overlooked by those who are afraid of appearing “Islamophobic” or racist. But addressing the roots of violence against women is one of the most important steps in eradicating it.

During the 1950s and ’60s, this level of sexual persecution was unheard of in Egypt. At that time, hardly anyone in cities wore the veil and Islamist groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood, had virtually disappeared due to the Gamal Abdel Nasser regime’s systematic attempts to eradicate them. When Anwar Sadat became president in 1970, he eased up on the Islamists because he wanted their support against leftist groups. Thus the 1970s witnessed a religious revival. By the 1980s and ’90s, the Brotherhood’s influence and the social services it provided were entrenched in many villages and neighborhoods, and the number of women wearing the veil rose significantly as a mark of the influence of political Islam.

I remember a conversation about the hijab between my mother and a woman who belonged to the Brotherhood. She said, “Every time I think about how uncomfortable it is, I remember that by wearing it I am promoting our ideology.”

Islamists launched campaigns pushing the veil. One showed a picture of a three legged chair and said it was like a woman without a veil. Another showed a lollipop wrapped in paper next to an unwrapped lollipop covered with flies, which it compared to a woman who does not veil. These campaigns objectified women by comparing them to chairs and candy, and dehumanizing women is the first step in justifying violence against them.

Radio and TV channels that catered to Islamist agendas (most of which have been shut down in the past few months) endlessly justified wife beating, female genital mutilation, marital rape, and other forms of violence against women. They also promoted the idea that women are inferior to men and in need of constant monitoring and disciplining. Those on the receiving end of these messages aren’t just orthodox Muslims or Muslim Brotherhood members, but a much wider demographic.

And talking to the police about sexual harassment is futile because the police think the same way as the harassers.

Not to say that women wearing hijab don't get harassed, they do, they probably just don't get acid thrown on them.

Pallywood Went To Egypt: Pro-Morsi Protests Staged For The Camera

Not sure if this source can be trusted, but it allegedly shows pro-Morsi Muslim Brotherhood actor types staging a "demonstration" in Egypt for the camera- fake blood and all- back in August. It just shows how common Pallywood staging is, even outside of Palestine.

For more on Pallywood Richard Landes in late 2012 posted info and photos over at The Augean Stables, and the UK Telegraph.  And here's a history.

Sick Baby Named Al-Sisi Denied Care By Islamist Egyptian Doctor?

Maybe Arab Muslim doctors don't take the Hippocratic Oath when they embark on their healing careers, if an Egyptian doctor at the Kafr el-Sheikh General Hospital near Cairo is any indication. Senior physician Ezzat Abdulaziz refused to treat a three-month old baby with a high temp because the little boy's name was al-Sisi.  He's apparently an Islamist Muslim Brother supporter, and obviously took offense to the fact the child was named after General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the savior of anti-Islamist Egyptians.

“I took my baby to the hospital, but the doctor expelled me out of the room refusing to treat the baby after learning that his name is al-Sisi,” the baby’s mother told the private Dream TV.
“I took my baby, who had a high temperature, to another woman doctor who examined him and issued a prescription for him,” the mother added.

The governor of Kafr el-Sheikh called the doctor's inaction negligent.

Egypt Ranks Worst For Women In Arab World In Thomson Reuter Poll

Believe it or not, Egypt tops the list as the worst Arab country for women, with Comoros coming in as the best, at least according to a Thomson Reuters Foundation survey.  I would have thought Saudi Arabia or Yemen would have taken top honors, but no, it's Egypt because of various factors including rampant and excessive sexual harassment, female genital mutilation (FGM), trafficking, the rise of Islamism (and the violence that has ensued) as a result of the Arab Spring,

The poll by Thomson Reuters' philanthropic arm surveyed 336 gender experts in August and September in 21 Arab League states and Syria, which was a founding member of the Arab League but was suspended in 2011.
[snip]
The poll assessed violence against women, reproductive rights, treatment of women within the family, their integration into society and attitudes towards a woman’s role in politics and the economy.

99.3 percent of Egyptian women have experienced some form of sexual harassment, per a UN report in April. At the height of the anti-Morsi protests in June, 91 women were reported as having been raped or sexually assaulted in Tahrir Square, according to Human Rights Watch.

“The social acceptability of everyday sexual harassment affects every woman in Egypt regardless of age, professional or socio-economic background, marriage status, dress or behavior,” said Noora Flinkman, communications manager at HarassMap, a Cairo-based rights group that campaigns against harassment. “It limits women’s participation in public life. It affects their safety and security, their sense of worth, self-confidence and health.”

Then there's the trafficking and forced marriage of women. Zahra Radwan of  Global Fund For Women claims:

“There are whole villages on the outskirts of Cairo and elsewhere where the bulk of economic activity is based on trafficking in women and forced marriages."
As for FGM, UNICEF says that a whopping 27.2 million women and young girls have been cut. That's 91% of the female population. Djibouti, though, beats Egypt by 2%.

Here's a list of how each country ranked (from worst to best):

22. Egypt
21. Iraq
20. Saudi Arabia
19. Syria
18. Yemen
17. Sudan
16. Lebanon
15. Palestinian territories
14. Somalia
13. Djibouti
12. Bahrain
11. Mauritania
10. UAE
9. Libya
8. Morocco
7. Algeria
6. Tunisia
5. Qatar
4. Jordan
3. Kuwait
2. Oman
1. Comoros

Ahram has more on why some of the others ranked worst.

But here's an article that discusses why ranking Egypt as number one is misleading.

They're all pretty pathetic when it comes to women's rights.

Video: Egyptian Lawyer Arrested For Surfing Israeli Websites

Ayman, an Egyptian lawyer, who was surfing Israeli websites in an Internet Cafe was arrested as a Mossad spy after the owner called security forces.

Ayman wants peace with Israel and is learning Hebrew, but according to the woman interviewing Ayman and the man who turned him in, the "people" in the Middle East do not.

Some snippets of the conversation:

Interviewer (no hijab, mind you):

"Are you telling me that you- an intellectual and a lawyer - are not aware that it is written in both the Quran and the New Testament that the (Jews) want a state from the Nile to the Euphrates, and want to divide the Middle East into mini-states, and that America and Israel have devised a global plot to take over the Middle East? [snip] You live according to a far-fetched agenda, talking about peace..."

And the snitch owner scoffs at one of the messages Ayman received:
"You are the State of Israel's eternal ambassador in Egypt."
Claiming that anyone who wants normalization with Israel must be a spy.

Anyone who thinks that peace in the Middle East is possible in the foreseeable future is a fool.

But at least someone is trying.

Pro-Morsi Islamist Tries To Set Colleague On Fire Over Pro-Egyptian Army Ringtone

Don't like your colleague's politics- set them on fire. That's what an Egyptian pro-Morsi Islamist tried to do to a female co-worker after he heard the pro-army ringtone blaring from her cell phone.

The newspaper said the 23-year-old woman had told the police that her colleague started insulting her after he heard the ringtone. He then attempted to set her on fire by dousing her in petrol.

The suspect reportedly works in a pharmaceutical company and frequently got into big arguments with his coworker for using a ringtone praising the Egyptian army.

The song “Tislam al-Ayade” or “May God Reward the hands” gained massive popularity among Egyptians after the army, led by Egypt's army chief General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, toppled Mursi on July 3, sparking a violent crackdown on Muslim Brotherhood supporters and officials.

Not that something as bizarre as this hasn't happened in this country. The last presidential election raised the hackles of many a voter on both sides of the fence, including the Arizona woman who ran over her husband for not voting, blaming him for another four years with Barack Obama.

Egyptian Coptic Christians Forced To Pay "Jizya" Tax

According to the Christian Post, Coptic Christians in the town of Dalga, Egypt, are now being forced to pay the "jizya" tax to the Islamists. For those of you who might not now, that's the Islamic "submission" tax that non-Muslims have to pay if they choose not to convert to Islam. As much as $30.00 a day, for some.

Dalga, a city of 120,000 people in southern Egypt, is home to 20,000 Christians and has been under Islamist control since President Mohammed Morsi was forced to step down by the military at the beginning of the summer. After Morsi's was ousted, Islamist attackers descended upon the city's Christian neighborhoods, torching and plundering and establishing themselves as the city's authority. In response, many Coptic families have fled the city.

Father Yunis Shawqi told reporters from El Dostor Daily News yesterday that though the amount varied, the tax had been leveled against all Christian Copts.

"[The] value of the tribute and method of payment differ from one place to another in the village, so that, some are being expected to pay 200 Egyptian pounds per day, others 500 Egyptian pounds per day," Mr. Shawqi said, according to the translator.

Creepy Video- Egyptian Kid Asks People If They Know What The Holocaust Was

Here's a creepy little video of a young Egyptian boy on a show titled "Anybody Knows?" taking his question "What is the Holocaust?" to the streets.

Many of those questioned claim not to know, and most of those who do actually know bring up the fact that there are people who dispute the numbers. Then there's the hijab-clad Holocaust denier with her niqab-clad buddy standing next to her. No surprises there.

Where the creep factor comes in? The chipper musical underscoring, and the cute kid smiling throughout the piece, especially at the end after he explains that "In the Holocaust, lots of people were rounded up and killed."

Video: Anwar Sadat's Daughter Camelia On The Terrorism Within The Muslim Brotherhood

Camelia Sadat, the daughter of the third President of Egypt Anwar Sadat, has some interesting things to say about Islamists and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Regarding the recent bloodshed- she places partial blame on her father for releasing the Islamists from jail back in the day because he believed that "they could join the fabric of Egyptian society again."  As a result he was assassinated.

She talks about the "terrorism within"  which is ultimately destroying them.

"They will never change."

She says it all starts with their pledge to the General Guide which has them with one hand on the Quran and the other on a pistol.

Some history on Camelia, who was married off at 12 by her father, and back in 2002 was practically destitute and living in the U.S. Couldn't find any recent information on her, other than the snippet of an interview below.

"Swan" Detained In Egypt For Spying Not A Swan Or Spy

It's Egypt's turn to roam into the realm of the ridiculous. A few days ago an Egyptian man dragged a "Swan" over to his local police station because he believed it to be a spy. The man lives 280 miles from the capital so I suppose one can excuse his ignorance. The authorities released the bird after they determined that the electronic thingamabob (actually a tracking device) attached to it was harmless. What's even more amusing is the fact that although identified as a swan the alleged spy was actually a stork. From France.

It's not the first time a bird has been accused of spying.  In the past, however, it has always been blamed on the "Zionist" Israelis.

Most recently Turkey detained- and then released- a Kestrel for allegedly spying for Israel, a vulture was caught in Sudan in 2012, and in 2011 Saudi Arabia also arrested a vulture for spying, although it was eventually pardoned and set free.

Photo of the jail "bird" here.

Video: The Destruction Of Christian Churches and Businesses In Egypt By Muslim Brotherhood Activists

Human Rights Watch documents the destruction and looting of Christian churches, businesses, schools, and even an orphanage by Muslim Brotherhood activists and other Islamists all over Egypt. All of this in retaliation after police and security forces tried to break up the Muslim Brotherhood sit-ins in Cairo.

Two employees on a tourist boat restaurant who were hiding when it was attacked, were found dead. One was a Christian, the other was a Muslim.

No-one came to help before or after the attacks.
