Man Made Global Climate Change Is A Myth- Says Weather Channel Co-Founder

Here's the interview with John Coleman, the Weather Channel co-founder. He claims man made global climate change is a myth, so there is nothing to worry about.

So there.

Professor Claims Climate Change Created ISIS

Global warming (and overpopulation) is responsible for the creation of the Islamic State (ISIS), according to a professor at an American college.

Charles Strozier, Professor of History and the founding Director of the John Jay College Center on Terrorism and Kelly Berkell, research assistant at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, wrote a blog piece in the Huffington Post called “ How Climate Change Helped ISIS,” where they argue that a four-year drought in Syria, from 2006 through 2010, “devastated the livelihoods of 800,000 farmers and herders; and knocked two to three million people into extreme poverty.”

"If more Americans knew how glacial melt contributes to catastrophic weather in Afghanistan—potentially strengthening the Taliban and imperiling Afghan girls who want to attend school—would we drive more hybrids and use millions fewer plastic bags? How would elections and legislation be influenced?" Tweet This

“As the Obama administration undertakes a highly public, multilateral campaign to degrade and destroy the militant jihadists known as ISIS, ISIL and the Islamic State,” the two write, “many in the West remain unaware that climate played a significant role in the rise of Syria's extremists.”

“Many became climate refugees,” Strozier and Berkell write.

He believes Climate Change is also is contributing to the strengthening of the Taliban in Afghanistan.

In other words, extreme weather causes extremism.  Yep.

Hypocrisy Of The People's Climate March- Tons Of Trash Left On Streets

@chelsea_elisa is a young conservative Wisconsin girl who received a huge leftist backlash after she posted a photo of trash on the streets and tweeted the following  regarding the hypocrisy of the climate change fanatics who left a huge mess after their New York "People's Climate March" this past weekend.

"Their love for the Earth is so real, they couldn’t even use a trash can."

Twitchy posts some of the nasty mentions she received including this:

Embedded image permalink

Carry your own trash bag, dude.

Some removed their nasty Tweets, but really not surprising they reacted that way.

Apparently, the New York Post referenced her Tweet and it was picked up by other news outlets including the UK Daily Mail and link to the Drudge Report, and after that she received a deluge of responses.

She wasn't the only one calling out the hypocrites, and Think Progress blasted the "right-wing's trashy response" including Breitbart and Gateway Pundit for their criticism.

Lonely Leftist Global Warming Dissenter Calls Obama "Delusional"

There aren't many of them on the left who would dare oppose the ruling thought with respect to climate change, but scientist Dr. Caleb Rossiter takes it a step further by calling Barack Obama "delusional" regarding his global warming claims.

As President Obama attends the UN Summit climate summit in New York City, a fellow member of his Democratic Party, who is also a scientist, is publicity [sic] renouncing the Presidents climate change claims as “delusional.” Rossiter reversed his view on man-made climate change and now says belief in a climate catastrophe is “simply not logical.”
Climate Statistics Professor Dr. Caleb Rossiter of American University, is an outspoken anti-war activist, has a flawless progressive record on a range of political issues – and he is a climate skeptic. Rossiter is a former Democratic congressional candidate and he campaigned against U.S. backed wars in Central America and Southern Africa.
In an exclusive interview for the upcoming documentary Climate Hustle, Rossiter, an adjunct professor in American University’s Department of Mathematics and Statistics, explained how he converted his views from accepting to challenging the so-called “consensus” on climate change after examining the scientific evidence. Rossiter has taught courses in climate statistics and holds a PhD in policy analysis and a masters degree in mathematics.

Some of Rossiter's quotes:

Climate Statistics Professor Dr. Caleb Rossiter of American University: 'Obama has long been delusional on this issue. Anyone who believes we are in a climate catastrophe I think is deluding themselves.'

Rossiter on his conversion to a climate skeptic: 'You are very isolated on the Democratic Party on the left — one is, I am — for having this conclusion of analysis...I would say since 2004 I’ve been very lonely. I’ve been lonely working on the Hill for the Democratic Party.'

Rossiter on Gore's film: 'I think it’s a wonderful teaching tool because it shows how we don't do science. Gore’s irresponsible.'

On Gore winning the Nobel: 'Worst Nobel Prize for peace since Henry Kissinger.'

Rossiter: 'My blood simply boils too hot when I read the blather, daily, about climate catastrophe. It boggles the mind that I could be certain that I know what caused a half degree rise in the last hundred fifty years. It’s simply not large enough to find a physical cause.'

The rest on Climate Depot.  Lots of interesting info.

Don't Go See Noah- From a Conservative Perspective

To be fair, it's not just Muslims who are dead-set against  anyone seeing Russell Crowe's latest movie "Noah."  Here are the reasons why you should not go from the perspective of a conservative non-Muslim woman.

Kira Davis writes:

Imagine an atheist with serious daddy issues writes a retelling of the Biblical story of Noah. Imagine that story is then adapted for the screen by L.Ron Hubbard and Oprah Winfrey and co-directed by Michael Bay and Spike Jonze. Now imagine the entire set and wardrobe of ‘Waterworld’ has also been repurposed for that movie.

Now imagine paying $11 to see said movie. That’s basically ‘Noah’ in a nutshell.

[snip]

I won’t beat around the bush – everything you feared about this movie is true. If you are a Christian or Jewish and hold dear the tale of Noah and his Ark you will barely recognize the story as told in this film. You will most certainly not recognize God, who is not mentioned by name one time in throughout the entire film (not odd, considering that is a Jewish custom) and is portrayed exactly as Bill Maher described Him – a narcissistic murderer.

[snip]

There is no joy to be found in this film. This is a movie about how mankind ruins everything and how much God hates that. It is the very opposite of the Biblical message. The Bible is the story of God’s desire to be a Father, and how even when his children became wicked and strayed He has always been in pursuit of our hearts. He has always valued us. The story of Noah is a story of mercy, not vigilante justice.
Aronofsky’s Noah hates mankind. He believes the “creator” has ordered him to let humanity die out with his own family, even going so far as to attempt to kill his own grandchildren rather than let his line continue. When he changes his mind it is direct defiance to the “creator”. God=evil, distant and uncaring. Man=flawed, loving and just.

This is what a commenter on the conservative lJReview had to say about the film:

Saw it yesterday. This review is correct. What I saw it as is basically an anti capitalism/climate change movie most likely written by the current head of the EPA.. It was far more loaded with liberal political themes then anything from the bible. This was the work of a Hollywood liberal attempting to co-opt the bible as a vehicle for his left wing political views. Liberals like this guy and a lot of others in Hollywood are always attempting to make movies that further the socialist/Marxist/anti capitalistic views most of them hold. Most of them fail miserably. Advice to Hollywood. If you want to further your political views, go ahead, it's free country. Just don't warp the messages in the bible to do it. It will fail every time.

I won't see it, but decide for yourselves whether it's worth supporting.

Greenpeace's Over-the-top Global Warming Message From Santa

Greenpeace has an over-the-top 'global warming' warning for kids (well, world leaders, really) from Santa (played by Brit actor Jim Carter of 'Downton Abbey" fame) who looks more like a character from the horror film "The Hills Have Eyes" than jolly Santa. Yeah, I know the point is it's supposed to look dire, but at least cast someone you who you can sympathize with. But that's not really the point, the point is it's rather ironic, that right now every state save south Florida is in the deep freeze, and even the Middle East is experiencing the wrath of an historic snow storm called Alexa, the heaviest snow fall in some 60 years.

Anyway, Santa has this to say:
“Dear children, regrettably I bring bad tidings." “For some time now, melting nice here in the North Pole has made our operations and our day to day life intolerable and impossible. And there may be no alternative but to cancel Christmas.”
Bah Humbug!

Baby It's Cold Outside- Or, What Happened To Global Warming?

It's the second year in a row, where I live, that we've had the coldest pre-winter ever, and I'm loving every minute of having to bundle up, since it's not something we've enjoyed very often. I've been here for 15 plus years, and although we experienced some cold spells the first few Decembers and Januaries after moving here, all those other years I've had to dust off the sweaters and coats only a few days here and there during the winter months. But it seems that the winters are getting colder, harsher and snowier- not just in this country, but all over the world.

Europe has recently experienced terrible weather. So have we, with record amounts of snow, and the first white Christmas in Atlanta, GA since 1898. All this coldness begs the question:

what happened to Global Warming?

Yes, I know that there are scientists and other eco-types who claim that global warming has caused the increase in snow fall, but what about the record cold temps? Florida had record cold weather in January of this year, and again in December, and they're in for another freeze before year-end. Temps have been so frigid this year that record numbers of Manatees have died in Florida waters. And this hasn't been the coldest year to date. The winter of 2009/2010 also saw record-breaking cold weather across our planet. I was reading a comment from a woman in the Netherlands in a forum on a website that I sell my photography and she said the winters have been getting progressively colder and that they were finally skating on natural ice again after years.

Just as there are those who continue to claim the world is heating up at an alarming rate and that we are at fault, there are others (scientists included) who believe that we are actually entering what they believe is another little ice age.

More opinions from those who believe the ice age is coming, here and here.

Enough With The Snow: Minnesotans For Global Warming Sing "Frozen Wasteland"

Amidst all the recent scandals that have emerged, and as both red and blue states turn white under record breaking amounts of snow- our thoughts turn to Global Warming.

Anyone know where Al Gore is? Maybe we should send out an amber alert.

The following is a brilliant video by Minnesotans For Global Warming, entitled "Frozen Wasteland", sung to the tune of The Who's "Teenage Wasteland".

Going too far- Environmentalists want to nix plush toilet paper

Remember back in 2007 when wacky Sheryl Crow called for using 1 square of toilet paper per sitting? Well, the environmentalists are back at it again calling for the elimination of plush-type toilet paper because it's un-green to use anything softer than wax paper to wipe our butts.

Although toilet paper and tissues account for only 5 percent of the U.S. paper industry, to environmentalists 5 percent is more than they can bear. I suppose they'd be happiest if we used corn cobs or newspapers to do our business, but they'll settle for recycled toilet paper instead, it seems. So they've been lobbying manufacturers to go green and make their t.p. more environmentally friendly by using recycled materials. Apparently Green peace has been doing their bit to put pressure on the paper industry:

Last month, Greenpeace announced an agreement that it said would change this industry from the inside. The environmental group had spent 4 1/2 years attacking Kimberly-Clark, the makers of Kleenex and Cottonelle toilet paper, for getting wood from old-growth forests in Canada. But the group said it is calling off the "Kleercut" campaign: Kimberly-Clark had agreed to make its practices greener. By 2011, the company said, 40 percent of the fiber in all its tissue products will come from recycled paper or sustainable forests.

One manufacturer of recycled t.p., Marcal, is trying to convince people that strength is better than soft.

"Strength of toilet paper is more important, for obvious reasons," said Spring, the chief executive, guiding a golf cart among the machinery that whizzes up vast stacks of old paper, whips it into a slurry, and dries it into rolls of toilet paper big enough for King Kong. He said his final product is as strong as any of the big-name brands. "If the paper breaks during your use of toilet paper, obviously, that's very, very important."

Don't get me wrong, although I don't buy into the global warming hysteria, I think recycling is extremely important, and trashing our earth is a crime, but anyone who wants to do away with soft toilet paper needs to experience a bout of dysentery or know what it feels like to have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) or any of the Inflammatory Bowel Diseases before they decide to nix plush toilet paper. I think they would sing a very different tune.

Al Gore's "Recount" 2000 Sob Story to Shoot in Jacksonville

So, not only does big 'ol Al (Gore that is) win an Oscar for his sham of a film "An Inconvenient Truth", he also receives (undeservedly so) the Nobel Peace prize for his Global Warming scare-mongering tactics. The Peace prize, mind you, for a subject that has the scientific community and the rest of the world at odds. And now, he can add one more thing to his list of accolades -- something else to further stroke his ever-expanding ego. Yes indeedy, HBO is actually set to shoot a film in Florida about big 'ol Al Gore's "stolen presidency."

Directed by Kevin Pollack and starring Kevin Spacey and Laura Dern (as Katherine Harris), "Recount" will explore the aftermath of election 2000 and the highly criticized recount. Colin Callendar, HBO Films Prez said "
It's a very compelling piece that takes a well-known event and deconstructs it from the point of view of the people involved."

Claiming it doesn't take sides Callendar said :
"It's a fascinating look at democracy where the rubber meets the road -- a look at the election process like we have never seen it before."

Doesn't take sides, eh? Hmmm. An event that polarized the American people, half of whom still firmly believe the election was outright stolen? Produced by a bunch of liberal, Hollywood-types who have donated generously to various elected officials who happen to be members of the Democratic Party? I sincerely doubt that. I'd like to say I'll wait to make judgement until it's released in the Spring of 2008, but I have no intention of watching it. Not because of its potentially liberal, biased political agenda, but because it sounds like a bore of a film, like Gore himself. What makes HBO think anyone will be interested in watching several hours worth of hanging chads and butterfly ballots? Snooze. Well, maybe the Dems and Gore and co. will enjoy watching it. You know, a collective fetch-the-Kleenex-box sob-fest. No thank you! I have better things to do with my time.

But I do find it terribly interesting that they decided, 7 years after the fact, to shoot and air this film during an election year. Trying to show American voters how evil the Republicans are?

Good timing HBO.

JOKE OF THE DAY: Al Gore and U.N. Panel win Nobel Peace Prize

Forced to wake up ultra early, for a student matinee this a.m, I thought my overly tired brain and eyes were playing tricks on me when I saw that the illustrious Al Gore and a U.N. panel had actually won the Nobel Peace Prize for their work on, of all things, Global warming! Al Gore?! The U.N.?! Sigh. Excuse me while I bang my head against the wall.....repeatedly. Just what Gore needs to inflate his already humongous ego: another wholly undeserved award. All this glory, however, might satisfy his ego enough to deter him from making a bid for the ultimate prize: Prez of the U.S. of A., but I'm not so sure, although others are convinced it will. Then again, garnering kudos for 'saving our planet' is far less stressful than trying to save the western world from marauding religious fanatics intent on dragging us back into the dark ages, or into the ground if we refuse to submit. Or whacked-out foreign leaders armed with nuclear weapons, ready, willing and poised to strike. Why would anyone, frankly, want to take on that responsibility?! Then again, power is an aphrodisiac.

And can someone please explain why the Global Warming issue is worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize? What has Global Warming to do with Peace, pray tell? There was a petition submitted to the Nobel Committee requesting that the Peace Prize be awarded to the Burmese Buddhist monastic order (Sangha), for their peaceful attempts to bring democracy to their country which would have been a far more deserving group than Gore and the useless U.N. Particularly in light of the fact that there are very differing views, in the scientific community, on the whole Global Warming issue. Apparently, Stewart Dimmock, truck driver and father of 2, sued the British government for distributing to 3,500 schools Global Warming packages which included Gore's film, claiming that

"the former U.S. Vice-President's documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, is unfit for schools because it is politically biased and contains serious scientific inaccuracies and 'sentimental mush'."
Although it wasn't outright banned, a U.K. court recently ruled that there are, indeed, 9 inaccuracies in Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" that must be addressed when showing the video to the school kids, along with a disclaimer stating that the film is politically biased:

1. The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government’s expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.

2. The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.

3. The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that it was “not possible” to attribute one-off events to global warming.

4. The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that this was not the case.

5. The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.

6. The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant’s evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.

7. The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.

8. The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.

9. The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

UPDATE:

Here's a great commentary in the UK Daily Telegraph

"So Al Gore is the joint winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Admittedly, he has to share it with the United Nations’ climate change panel - but, even so, I think we need to declare an international smugness alert. The former US Vice-President has already taken over from Michael Moore as the most sanctimonious lardbutt Yank on the planet. Can you imagine what he'll be like now that the Norwegian Nobel committee has given him the prize? More to the point, can you imagine how enormous his already massive carbon footprint will become once he starts jetting around the world bragging about his new title?"

Mass defections from the Global Warming Hysterics Society

Move over Al!  It seems more and more prominent scientists are beginning to trade in their alarmism for skepticism regarding the whole contentious, man-made Global Warming issue. It should be interesting to see what happens when more of them defect to the 'other side' of the GW "we're gonna fry" doomsday scenario. Many of these scientists are doing so at risk to their careers and reputations. Defectors are never kindly looked upon, so it could get nasty, particularly when there is so much at stake for those who have invested so much in 'climate hysteria'.

The U.S. Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works (EPW) has compiled a list of scientists who have recently changed positions regarding the man-made Global Warming argument.  It's by no means a comprehensive list, and there are other scientists not yet listed, but I have added snippets from some of those scientists that are listed, below. For more comprehensive information and a full list of scientists, go to EPW.

Geophysicist Dr. Claude Allegre, a top geophysicist and French Socialist who has authored more than 100 scientific articles, written 11 books and received numerous scientific awards, converted from climate alarmist to skeptic in 2006. Allegre, who was one of the first scientists to sound global warming fears 20 years ago, now says the cause of climate change is "unknown" and accused the “prophets of doom of global warming” of being motivated by money, noting that "the ecology of helpless protesting has become a very lucrative business for some people!"

Geologist Bruno Wiskel of the University of Alberta was once such a big believer in man-made global warming that he set out to build a “Kyoto house” in honor of the UN sanctioned Kyoto Protocol which was signed in 1997. Instead, he said he realized global warming theory was full of holes and ‘red flags,’ and became convinced that humans are not responsible for rising temperatures.   Noting that the Earth has been warming for 18,000 years, Wiskel told the Canadian newspaper, “If this happened once and we were the cause of it, that would be cause for concern. But glaciers have been coming and going for billions of years."  Wiskel also said that global warming has gone "from a science to a religion” and noted that research money is being funneled into promoting climate alarmism instead of funding areas he considers more worthy.

Astrophysicist Dr. Nir Shaviv, one of Israel's top young award winning scientists, recanted his belief that manmade emissions were driving climate change. "Like many others, I was personally sure that CO2 is the bad culprit in the story of global warming. But after carefully digging into the evidence, I realized that things are far more complicated than the story sold to us by many climate scientists or the stories regurgitated by the media. In fact, there is much more than meets the eye.” According to Shaviv, the C02 temperature link is only “incriminating circumstantial evidence. Solar activity can explain a large part of the 20th-century global warming...it is unlikely that [the solar climate link] does not exist.”

Botanist Dr. David Bellamy, a famed UK environmental campaigner, former lecturer at Durham University and host of a popular UK TV series on wildlife, recently converted into a skeptic after reviewing the science and now calls global warming fears "poppycock." According to a May 15, 2005 article in the UK Sunday Times, Bellamy said “global warming is largely a natural phenomenon.  The world is wasting stupendous amounts of money on trying to fix something that can’t be fixed. The climate-change people have no proof for their claims. They have computer models which do not prove anything.”

Climate scientist Dr. Chris de Freitas of The University of Auckland, N.Z., also converted from a believer in man-made global warming to a skeptic. “At first I accepted that increases in human caused additions of carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere would trigger changes in water vapor etc. and lead to dangerous ‘global warming,’ But with time and with the results of research, I formed the view that, although it makes for a good story, it is unlikely that the man-made changes are drivers of significant climate variation.”

Meteorologist Dr. Reid Bryson, the founding chairman of the Department of Meteorology at University of Wisconsin (now the Department of Oceanic and Atmospheric Sciences, was pivotal in promoting the coming ice age scare of the 1970’s ( See Time Magazine’s 1974 article “Another Ice Age” citing Bryson: & see Newsweek’s 1975 article “The Cooling World” citing Bryson) has now converted into a leading global warming skeptic. In February 8, 2007 Bryson dismissed what he terms "sky is falling" man-made global warming fears.  “Before there were enough people to make any difference at all, two million years ago, nobody was changing the climate, yet the climate was changing, okay?” Bryson told the May 2007 issue of Energy Cooperative News. “All this argument is the temperature going up or not, it’s absurd. Of course it’s going up. It has gone up since the early 1800s, before the Industrial Revolution, because we’re coming out of the Little Ice Age, not because we’re putting more carbon dioxide into the air,” Bryson said. “You can go outside and spit and have the same effect as doubling carbon dioxide,”

Global warming author and economist Hans H.J. Labohm  was one of the 60 scientists who wrote an April 6, 2006 letter urging withdrawal of Kyoto to Canadian prime minister Stephen Harper which stated in part, “’Climate change is real’ is a meaningless phrase used repeatedly by activists to convince the public that a climate catastrophe is looming and humanity is the cause. Neither of these fears is justified. Global climate changes all the time due to natural causes and the human impact still remains impossible to distinguish from this natural ‘noise.’”

Paleoclimatologist Dr. Ian D. Clark, professor of the Department of Earth Sciences at University of Ottawa, reversed his views on man-made climate change after further examining the evidence. “I used to agree with these dramatic warnings of climate disaster. I taught my students that most of the increase in temperature of the past century was due to human contribution of C02...... However, a few years ago, I decided to look more closely at the science and it astonished me. In fact there is no evidence of humans being the cause. There is, however, overwhelming evidence of natural causes such as changes in the output of the sun. This has completely reversed my views on the Kyoto protocol.”

Test your knowledge on global warming.  Take a short test here.  I only got 9 out 10.  Oops.

Liberal Idiocy- Sheryl Crow and her 1 "square" per

Sheryl Crow is the talk of the radio talk shows with her oh-so innovative ways to help curb the impending global warming crisis. Sheryl and Laurie David (whoever the heck she is) are on a 2 week "global warming college tour", scaring the doodoo out of impressionable young minds, and blogging their way across America in their bio-diesel bus. In her own words:

"I have spent the better part of this tour trying to come up with easy ways for us all to become a part of the solution to global warming. Although my ideas are in the earliest stages of development, they are, in my mind, worth investigating. One of my favorites is in the area of conserving trees which we heavily rely on for oxygen. I propose a limitation be put on how many sqares {sic} of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting. Now, I don't want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights, but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required. "

Yup, that's right. 1 piece 'o "t.p." per person, except for those special "pesky" occasions. One square, that's about the size of the palm of my hand. I don't even want to think about the health implications of one square. I'm taking rubber gloves when I go to public restrooms!

She does now, however, claim it was all a joke. Uhuh! That's what Keith Richards said about snorting his Dad, several days after people balked at that comment! Who knows what she was snorting when she wrote that, but I have a nasty suspicion she more than likely meant what she said. Which just re-affirms how loony the left can be. Her brother ( whose judgement she trusts completely) took it one step further by saying: "how bout just washing the one square out." If anyone was joking it was him. At least I hope to God, he was, because that's certifiable.

Not only is she loony, she (like many libs) is a major hypocrite. Even though she's riding a diesel bus for this particular tour, her normal tour transportation consists of 3 tractor trailers, 4 buses and 6 cars! This is the problem with most of these celebs who cry "global warming", they say one thing and do another. And although many of them drive energy efficient cars at home, they have no qualms about flying their private jets around the world, including John Travolta (who has 5 planes), Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and many others. One trip abroad uses the same amount of fuel that you'd need to run a Hummer for a year. I won't even get into Al Gore's use of more than 20 times the amount of electricity that the average citizen uses in a year.

So that's the poop on Crow. For another interesting earth-saving idea check out her blog. She has a great design idea for detachable "dining" sleeves, to save on paper napkins!

P.S. I googled Laurie David... as many of you probably already know, she's Queen of the Global Warming activists and producer of Gore's "AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH". Who knew.

P.P.S. My Dad says we should grow more corn, use the kernels for ethanol gas and the cobs for... well, you know....., but, I think I'll pass. I'm grabbing my Charmin and using however many squares I darn well choose, thank you very much.

Stop Global Warming- go veggie, Al Gore!

Well, isn't this interesting! It seems not everyone is jumping on the Gore, Saviour-of-the-Environment bandwagon. PETA fired off a letter, several days ago, challenging Al Gore to go veggie, if he truly considers himself a champion of global warming. Apparently, they also criticized his documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, for failing to mention what they consider to be the one, major contributing factor in global warming: raising cattle.

According to the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO): "Cattle-rearing generates MORE global warming greenhouse gases, as measured in CO2 equivalent, than transportation." The FAO report basically states that most of those greenhouses gases are generated from, well... cow poop. "It generates 65 per cent of human-related nitrous oxide, which has 296 times the Global Warming Potential (GWP) of CO2. Most of this comes from manure. And it accounts for respectively 37 per cent of all human-induced methane (23 times as warming as CO2), which is largely produced by the digestive system of ruminants, and 64 per cent of ammonia, which contributes significantly to acid rain." In other words, that burger you're eating is causing more problems for the environment, than that Dodge Ram you're driving.

Though I'm not totally convinced of a global warming crisis, the earth's temps have risen, somewhat, over the years. I remember reading, years ago, that the deforestation of the world's Rain Forests was a major cause of greenhouse gas emissions, particularly in South America, where cattle-raising (and the soy the farmers grow to feed them) is responsible for the destruction of huge chunks of the Amazon. And, we all know that Co2 is absorbed by plants (that's why houseplants are highly recommended), so, you have to wonder what happens to all that Co2 when huge chunks of forest are removed. And how does that naturally affect climate? Then again, I have also read about the cyclical nature of climate change. Extreme weather patterns occur, supposedly, every 15 to 60 years or so, alternating between regular warming and cooling trends. For the Northern Hemisphere, the Atlantic multidecadal oscillation (AMO) cycle has been in the warm phase since the 1990s, which brings with it a wetter than usual period, and an increased frequency of hurricanes. The 1940s through '70s, however, saw what was considered as a global cooling phase, and many people feared another Ice Age. There was also what was termed: a Little Ice Age, which ended around the 1850s, though no-one is quite sure when it started. So, as we can see, there have been periods of warming and cooling that have occurred, naturally, over the centuries. Who knows what the true story is, and only time will tell.

But, we do know that raising cattle for food is a major factor in "land and water degradation", and forests have been destroyed, worldwide, to accommodate the meat-eating habits of humanity. So, I guess, PETA does have a point when they say: if you wanna be an environmentalist, Al, act like one. You know, put your money where your mouth is?! Practice what you preach?! Stop eating meat. I suppose I should stop eating soy burgers, as well, considering much of the deforestation problem is also attributed to soy farming.
