Sheehan threatens Pelosi: Impeach Bush or else!

Sheehan and Pelosi in better days

Did anyone really think Cindy Sheehan would fade so easily into oblivion? I knew the pull of 'fame' was far too intoxicating and addictive for her to ride off into the sunset of obscurity so quickly. Once a media ho, always a media ho. After she resigned, in a huff, from the Democratic Party and as poster-loon for the anti-war movement back in May, within a few days she jumped on the wacko 9/11 Conspiracy Theory bandwagon and now, she's baaaaaaack, even wackier than ever.

Sheehan's madder than heck and ain't gonna take it anymore. She's issued an ultimatum to Nancy Pelosi: Impeach Bush by July 23rd or she'll run against Madame Pelosi as an Independent in 2008! Says Sheehan:
"I would give her a run for her money." Although Sheehan has never held public office, she said she already has the name recognition and would not have to run against Pelosi in a primary."
Oooooooohhhhh scary, scary. Pelosi must be quaking in her boots. Then again, she could win. Stranger things have happened.Queen Sheehan and her minions will be arriving on July 23rd
"in Washington, D.C., after a 13-day caravan and walking tour starting from the group's war protest site near Bush's Crawford ranch."
If Pelosi has not filed impeachment articles by the time they arrive in D.C., she will announce her candidacy at that time.
"Sheehan, who turns 50 on Tuesday, said Bush should be impeached because she believes he misled the public about the reasons for going to war, [good grief, not this again!] violated the Geneva Convention by torturing detainees [but it's okay for the insurgents to torture, behead etc. soldiers AND civilians] and crossed the line by commuting the prison sentence of former vice presidential aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby. [as if Bush is the only President to ever pardon or commute a prison sentence] She said other grounds for impeachment are the domestic spying program and the "inadequate and tragic" response to Hurricane Katrina." [Oh yes, and Nagle and Blanco were not at fault, in any way]
She blames the Libby commutation for dragging her "kicking and screaming back in" to political activism. It doesn't take much, does it? Look, I can understand the woman's grief at losing a son, and my heart breaks for every person who has lost someone in this global war on terrorism, but her "peace-mom" motives are far from honorable. It seems Ms. Sheehan might be a tad anti-Israel, and I truly believe that it has become more about the glory of celebrity and not being validated in the way she sees fit, than a grieving mom's wish for an end to the Iraq War. She wrote a letter, in response to an episode of Nightline where she felt she was unfairly treated:
"Imagine my distress when I turned Night Line on last night and I was confronted with the gory details of my son's murder in Sadr City, Baghdad, Iraq on 04/04/04. Imagine, also, my sorrow and rage at the side of the story that you presented to the American public...........I was
on the Night Line Townhall Meeting in Washington, DC on 01/27/05. After I spoke (which I think was a fluke), Ted Koppel dismissed me as being "emotional." First of all, how can I approach this discussion without emotions, MY SON WAS KILLED, AND KILLED FOR LIES? Second of all, that show was not fair and balanced and I think the conclusion "Should we stay" was foregone."
Although she claims the person who forwarded this email to Nightline doctored her words, and denies that she ever said the following about Israel, there are leftist, anti-semitic sites that claim she did. And they would have no reason to lie.
"Am I emotional? Yes, my first born was murdered. Am I angry? Yes, he was killed for lies and for a PNAC Neo-Con agenda to benefit Israel.[huh? Guess that's another Conspiracy Theory] My son joined the Army to protect America, not Israel. Am I stupid? [yes! you are] No, I know full-well that my son, my family, this nation, and this world were betrayed by a George Bush who was influenced by the neo-con PNAC agenda after 9/11. We were told that we were attacked on 9/11 because the terrorists hate our freedoms and democracy...not for the real reason, becuase the Arab-Muslims who attacked us hate our middle-eastern foreign policy. [I assume she means our support of Israel] That hasn't changed since America invaded and occupied Iraq...in fact it has gotten worse."
So, would it have been okay if her son Casey had died had she not believed that Israel was a factor? The problem with most anti-Israel/anti-Semitic stooges is that they fail to realize that without democratic Israel in the midst of raging, Muslim-dominated territories that whole region would become an enclave of fundamentalist, hardline Islamic rule. Israel is a stabilizing force in that part of the world.

So, it looks like Cindy Sheehan is here for the long term, as I had predicted. She will always find some cause to glom onto to keep her in the media spotlight. For now, it looks like she's ready to duke it out with Pelosi. This should be fun!

Mama Cindy seems to have a pattern of claiming 'others' doctored or tweaked her computer entries. She's done that before when she's been caught expressing her true feelings. She's an anti-Semite and she's a loon.

Pelosi won re-election last time with over 80% of the vote. I don't think she's too nervous.

In the paper here over the weekend was the story that Sheehan's 'peace ranch' in Crawford has been purchased by Bree Walker, the anti war liberal from California. Walker knows she overpaid for the property but just couldn't bear the thought that a Bush supporter might buy the property. Lovely.

I'm shocked, shocked that you would claim Ms. Sheehan's intentions other than honourable! Our Cindy an anti-semite? Our Peace-Mama a whacked-out conspiracy nut? Our Cindy an overblown wind-bag and publicity seeking attention hound?

OK I'll grant you she's all that and worse but...what was my point again???

Cindy Sheehan has serious emotional problems. She doesnt need to save the country, she needs therapy.

Instead of aggravating her illness she needs to talk about her adjustment to her son's passing.

Becoming an "anti-war" activist is no way to mourn such a loss. She has destroyed her marriage and alienated her children. Someone needs to bring Cindy back home, for her own good.

I agree, she has serious problems. I don't know if she was this way before her son died or not, probably she was.

When asked where she got the idea to run against Pelosi, Sheehan answered, "The little voices in my head."

That pretty much says it all.

She's a NUT!

Maybe we can use those little voices in her head to get her the help she so desperately needs!

You knew it was too good to be true and she has to put herself back in the spotlight!

The woman is nuts but it could be fun watching Nancy Pelosi deal with her now!

I'm neither here nor there about Cindy Sheehan. I think she is a sincere, not really sophisticated person in politics.

I do appreciate she exposed the hypocracy of the Democratic Party "antiwar" candidates.

Pelosi is the real ho.

Ah shucks! I almost believed Cindy when she said she wanted to slink off and just be a mama to her children. Te he!! HA! HA! HA! I'm sorry, I just can't stop laughing! What a boob Miss Sheehan is! But, I will say, I really, no joke, think Miss Sheehan will give Nancy Pelosi a run for congress. Although I think Mrs. Pelosi would win, I think it will be a lot closer than the Dinosaur, Drive-by, mainstream media thinks. I do not see how Miss Sheehan would not be able to get at least 40% in the general election. Remember, Mrs. Pelosi's district is. . .San Francisco! We will see in November 2008!

Can I ask what the process with impeaching the President is? I am not up to date with the US procedure.

I do remember an attempt to do this with a previous President and if he had shagged a intern or not? (sarcasm)

The war issue is of course more serious and either there are grounds to start the process or there is not.

I'd really like for this to get determined so this endless talk/threat/flyers/posters can be over and done with.

Lizzie,

Check out Wikipedia for impeachment proceedings. Basically, the House indicts (my word) and the Senate tries on impeachment cases. Indictment requires simple majority vote and impeachment (guilty vote in Senate) requires two thirds vote.

Pelosi is your typical, cowardly Democrat. She and several posters on this site dismiss and/or underestimate the degree of anger many Americans feel about Bush and Cheney and their actions over the past six years. In my opinion, both men should be removed from office, Cheney first, so as to avoid his replacing Bush should we ever have luck to remove that man.

one of your best posts yet incog. i found myself chuckling quite frequently. i think you should interpret miss sheehan more often for us, you know her well. weren't we teased before by cindy with the threat of her running against dianne feinstein. i wished for that then and i wish for her run against miss pelosi now. as you so well put it, i doubt if "the media ho" will back up her threat though as ahe simply graves that attention.

p.s. pelosi doesn't look to thrilled to be sitting next to cindy in the snapshot. who could blame her.

Now it's politicial blackmail ... she won't stop at anything ... words fail me where Sheehan is concerned.
Actually as a European I'd like to express my shock at seeing the 'myth' of the closed circuit leftism in the American creative industry affirmed by somebody in the know. I think it is totally sad and a measure of the West's dictatorship of Liberalism that a person is denied the freedom of speech!
You have my sympathy and I'll link up (a small consolation - all we can do is blog, blog, blog against the rage, rage, rage).
Best, Cassandra.

If anyone needs to get impeached it is Congress.

As our country ramps up its commitment to the Iraqi people, Congress has been ramping up its efforts to derail our foreign policy.

It is the biggest betrayal of our country in our entire history and a huge embarrassment that Americans are not willing to live up to our commitments to the Iraqi people.

Michael Yon, who of course is actually embedded with U.S. troops, reports that Iraqis are moving back to their homes because they are confident that U.S. troops in the Surge are actually going to stay to protect them. Congress would rather watch these Iraqis get slaughtered. Shame on them!

You said she would be back and she' s tried quite a few times.....But this time its going to be fun...I wonder who are backers are ?
She is nuts !!

No, no one underestimates the anger on the left toward Pres Bush or Cheney. Are you kidding? It's all we've heard since 2001.

The problem with impeachment is that the reason alleged by the socialists is that 'Bush lied' and cherry picked intelligence findings. All committees that have investigated these allegations have shown the opposite to be true. All the committees have been bi-partisan, except for the mock hearing held by Conyers in the basement of the House for C-Span purposes, where members of groups like Code Pinko were treated like legitimate witnesses. The 9/11 Commission, and all the rest afterward show that everyone, except a few, agreed with the administration's thoughts on Iraq. And the policy of regime change in Iraq was signed into effect by Clinton in 1998.

Facts, they are such pesky things.

KAREN: I remember Bree Walker from my California days. And it would make sense that she would try and weasel out of laying claim to something she had said. She might have been nice in the past, but now she's just pathetic.

BCF: Uh... hmmm. Not sure why we even bother to give her the attention she so craves.

FREEDOM: And I would agree, she probably needs serious therapy. I find it terribly sad that she essentially abandoned her marriage and family for something as ephemeral and unimportant as fame.

DEBBIE: Who knows if she was Deb, but it looks like it became much more prevalent after he died. There's an interesting photo out there (after his death) of Bush kissing her on the cheek. Boy did things change. since. Little Voices inside my head. Hmmmmmmm.

STRAWB: It will be very fun to watch the Pelosi/Sheehan match.

REN: I would agree about Pelosi, but probably for not the same reasons as you..;-) But Sheehan has gotten the taste of celebrity and now that she has no family left, to speak of, fame has become her drug of choice.

RIGHTY: I feel terrible for her family. And, as I said, stranger things have happened so she could even win. Doubt it, but you never know.

LIZZE: I'm not really either.. but wikipedia is a good source, as Tambopaxi said. There are no grounds for impeachment. One might hate the man for whatever reason, but no grounds. If he lied, then almost every other leader of every European country plus Russia and China lied as well. Everyone was led to believe that there were WMDs. I still believe they are somewhere.. probably in Syria.

TAMBOPAXI: as I mentioned above.. there are no grounds for impeachment. And yes, there are many americans who are angry, but there are many others who aren't. And if you are referring to the war.. you will find that there are still many people who believe it was the right thing to do.

PAT J: Thank you PJ. Yes, she did threaten that.. but I guess Pelosi is a bigger fish to fry. Actually neither of them look too happy. And Sheehan is here to stay.

CASSANDRA: It is sort of political blackmail. And thank you! It is frustrating that you can't be open about your politics... but that's the way it is. Maybe some day that will change.

ANGEL: Yep.. and better than ever.

PAN: Watch, in 10 years she'll run for prez.

FREEDOM: Yes, Congress indeed. There needs to be some major shifts there.
As for Iraq.. it's not just the Dems the Repubs are shifting positions. That region is going to fall, big time, if we pull out too soon. But they do need to make a greater effort to take control of their country.. and is that possible? Michael Yon is very cool! I've seen some of his stuff.

FRASY: Probably other anti-war activists. ANd it should be fun. We'll see what happens on the 23rd.

KAREN: Everyone plus all the other world leaders.

Code Pink "testified" at Conyer's witch trial? Thats a laugh.

What testimony could they give?

Did the Cuban government pass any intel on to them that we havent already seen?

lizze said...

Tambopaxi - Thank you, that is a good idea.

Incognito - I do think that issue to impeach or not should be tested, for both sides sake. This would either deal with any misgivings or it will clear the slate and people can move on.

UK went to war on WMDs a 100% I thought that US went to war more to remove Saddam Hussein but I have to say at the time I was more focus on UK politics since I was living there then.

Dr Pat has cracked the Sheehan psychology. For the analysis, see here:

LIZZE: It was a little of both.

CASSANDRA: Thanks for the link to drsanity. will check it out.

When I first started reading stuff about this I cracked up when I realized she had only made it 36 days out of the media spotlight. It made me think that she is suffering from media whore syndrome or a severe addiction to the media spotlight. So, she could only make it 36 days before the withdrawal pains became too severe.

This is just beyond pathetic, another person who needs to some serious therapy. But as we have both mentioned it will be entertaining to see Sheehan and Pelosi duke it out.

Wouldn't it be ironic if they split the liberal vote and the Republican won as a result?????

Yes, it would be poetic justice.. LMC! :-) Can't wait.
