HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! For all you do, this blog post's for you!

It's Mother's Day in the U.S.A. And even though it's celebrated on different days throughout the year, in different countries, I salute all of you who are mothers! Even though I have no children of my own, I've always had a tremendous amount of admiration for those who do, because I know how challenging Motherhood can be. From birthing to raising children, it takes a lot of energy and commitment and sacrifice.

I've always thought of Mother's Day as a tribute to Moms, without whom none of us would exist. I never bothered to research the origins of this day, until today, and I discovered, as with most holidays, they vary considerably.

Julia Ward Howe (author of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic"), inspired by 'Mothering Sunday' in England, is credited with creating "Mother's Day" in the U.S. In 1870, she wrote the Mother's Day Proclamation (an anti-war screed), in response to the American Civil War and the Franco-Prussian War, and although it's evolved into something quite different these days, it actually began as a cry for peace.

So, whether you've already celebrated, are celebrating it today, or will celebrate it sometime in the future, I send you my love and good wishes for a Happy Mum's Day!

Thanks, Incognito, she is well, was glad to see the family and everyone commented on how good she looked. She was very animated today, heard a good story about my Grandpa and brown sugar sandwiches, the moral of which is, despite our best intentions never assume we know whats best for another or don't mess with my lunch.
