Pakistan Pulls "Immoral" Josh Condom Ad

A commercial for Josh condoms, aimed at preventing HIV/Aids and promoting family planning and airing on Pakistani television, is being pulled per PEMRA (the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority). Apparently it has offended too many people in that country. According to PEMRA the .50 sec spot is being "perceived as indecent, immoral, and in sheer disregard to our socio-cultural and religious values," and is therefore "unconstitutional."

The ad, which stars Pakistani actress/model Mathira, has caused quite a furor. Some think there is definitely a need for population control:

It is estimated that by the year 2050, our population will be 300 million strong. Every day, a whopping 14,000 babies are born. That is 14,000 more mouths to feed, 14,000 more children to educate and 14,000 children that need to be provided for. An average woman in Pakistan has 5 to 6 babies during her lifetime.
But find the ad disgusting for objectifying women.

You be the judge.

More on the story.
