Egyptian Wrestler Suspended For Biting Her Israeli Opponent

How's this for bad sportsmanship, among other things: female Egyptian wrestler Enas Moustafa Youssef Khourshid bit Ilana Kartysh (from Israel) during a wrestling match in Sassari, Italy.  She also refused to shake her Israeli opponent's hand, before and after the match, which is a no-no in wrestling.  As a result she has been suspended by the International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles (FILA).

FILA President Nenad Lalovic writes in an email to The Associated Press that “the Egyptian female wrestler was immediately suspended.” The sanction prevented her competing at the Mediterranean Games which finished Sunday in Turkey.
Lalovic says “our legal commission will soon decide about the final fine” for Moustafa.

And the beauty of it all- Kartysh won the tournament. She now ranks #2 in the FILA world ranking.

Ah, poetic justice! There is no place for politics in sports.
